물 이미지와 큐브를 통한 자아존재성

Abstract

The existence of human being has been researched for long time. It becomes clearer with nature and in the order of nature. Learning the principle of life in the nature and questing the value of our existence in the nature, we realize its importance. The quest for existence of human being begins on the basis of establishing 'clothes, food and shelter', the Three factors of human life. When they are fully satisfied, this can be researched more profoundly. In this dissertation, I focus on 'shelter',namely, house. To research the value of existence, the desire to possess space is instinctive. Then, the concept of space includes both something which is restricted by some matter and invisible area. Generally, space is defined as scope spread physically or psychologically so that some materials or matter can exist or certain affair may occur in it. Moreover, our vague perception on the space is formed by mutual relation that occurs between one matter which can be the target of recognition and human being that perceives it. It must be noted that both time and space are not objective being, but the aspect of human recognition. This dissertation intends to describe the concept of space by dividing it into physical space and psychological space. In simple sense, physical space means the place surrounded by wall or fence to protect human being from diverse external attacks such as rain, wind, etc., namely physically limited place. In addition, the meaning of psychological space is that all human being have their own area which must not be invaded and is invisible Furthermore, staying in the physical space, it means space in the human mentality that pursues and speculates better thing through comfort or isolation felt by human being. In this dissertation, I put more importance on the psychological space and this thought is developed to the question on my 'individual space.' I think that the concept of ‘individual space’ is required in that it reminds the contemporary men who are bound to social role and bindings of the necessity of private time and space as well as prevents them from losing their thought and feeling. Here I use a name, '‘cube’ to explain the 'individual space'. While cube means visible and physical space in the form of regular hexahedron and cube, this is cube in the mind and invisible space that has the boundary with physical space. While the space made by surrounding lines of cube means the space owned by the himself, the space acquires the uniqueness that it needs. Then, taking rest in the physical and psychological cube, the person researches the existence and value of self-ego. The concept of securing space through cube moves with water image from 3-dimensional concept to 2-dimensional concept, namely, the plane work. As the concept of ‘individual space’ is transmitted to the concept of 'securing space' in the 2-dimensional plane painting, the 'water image' was used as tools that communicate with the reaction in the person himself. Contained in the space, water means material volume of space and it signifies the size of secured individual space. The water image in the work is not mere water, but it is expression means for spiritual world, target of meditation and media toward spiritual world. Thus, water becomes material that implies artistic emotion and provides ground as target of expression. Resulting in spiritual relax and speculation for contemporary men, the space that contains water as psychological symbol wishes to feel their existence and to be discovery for incessant self-research.;인간의 존재에 대한 탐구는 오래 전부터 이어져 왔다. 그것은 자연과 함께 자연의 질서 속에서 더욱 분명해진다. 우리는 자연 속에서 삶의 원리를 알아가고 우리의 존재 가치를 탐구하고 그것의 중요함을 깨닫게 된다. 인간의 존재가치 탐구를 위한 것으로써 공간을 소유하고자 하는 욕구는 본능적인 것이다. 이때 공간의 개념은 어떠한 것으로 제한된 것이나, 보이지 않는 영역을 포함한다. 일반적으로 공간이란 어떤 물질이나 물체가 존재할 수 있거나 어떤일이 일어날 수 있는, 물리적 연구나 심리적으로 널리 퍼져 있는 범위로 정의된다. 또한 공간에 대한 우리의 막연한 지각은 인지의 대상이 될 수 있는 하나의 물체와 그것을 지각하는 인간 사이에서 발생하는 상호관계에 의하여 형성된다. 여기서 짚고 넘어갈 것은 결국, 시간이나 공간이나 하는 것은 객관적인 존재가 아니라 모두 인간의 인식의 측면인 것이다. 본 논문에서는 공간의 개념을 물리적 공간과 심리적 공간으로 나누어 서술하고자 한다. 물리적 공간은 단순한 의미에서 비, 바람 등 외부의 여러 공격으로부터 인간을 보호하는 벽, 울타리 등으로 둘러싸인 장소이며, 물리적으로 제한된 장소를 의미한다. 나아가 심리적 공간의 의미는 모든 인간은 침범되지 말아야할 고유의 영역이 있으며, 그것은 보이지 않는다. 또한, 물리적 공간 속에 있음으로 인간이 느끼는 안락함, 또는 고립감을 통해 더 나은 것을 추구하고 사색하는 인간의 마음속 공간을 의미하기도 한다. 본 논문에서 본인은 심리적 공간에 더 초점을 맞추고 있으며 이러한 생각은 본인의 ‘개인 공간’에 대한 물음으로 발전한다. ‘개인공간’의 개념은 사회적 역할과 굴레에 얽매여 있는 현대인에게 사적인 시간과 공간의 필요성을 일깨워주며 그들이 자신의 생각과 느낌을 잃어 가는 것에 대한 방어막으로써 필요한 것이라고 본다. 여기서 본인은 ‘개인 공간‘을 설명하는데 있어, ‘cube’라는 명칭을 사용한다. cube는 ‘정육면체, 입방꼴을 한 것’으로 육안으로 보이는 공간, 물리적 공간을 의미하나 이것은 마음속의 입방체이며 동시에 보이지 않으나, 물리적 공간과의 경계를 가진 공간이다. 큐브의 둘러싸는 선들에 의해서 생기는 공간은 본인에게 소유된 공간의 의미를 지니며, 그 공간은 자신이 필요로 하는 유일성을 획득하게 된다. 그 때 본인은 물리적 , 심리적 큐브 속에서 휴식을 취하고 자아의 존재와 가치를 탐구한다. ‘cube를 통한 공간 확보의 개념’은 물 이미지와 함께 3차원적 개념에서 2차원, 즉 평면작업으로 이동하게 된다. ‘개인 공간’에 대한 개념이 2차원적 평면 회화에서의 ‘공간 확보‘의 개념으로 전달됨에 따라 본인 내면의 반응들과 소통하는 도구로 ’물이미지’가 사용되었으며 동시에 물은 공간 속에 담겨짐으로서 공간의 물리적 부피를 의미하고 그것은 즉, 확보된 개인공간의 크기를 말한다. 작품 속의 물 이미지는 단순한 물이 아닌 정신세계의 표현수단이자 명상의 대상이며, 정신세계로 향하는 매개체이다. 따라서 물은 예술적 정서를 함축하며 표현대상으로서의 근거를 제공해주는 소재가 된다. 심리적 상징으로서의 물을 담은 공간은 현대인들에게 정신적인 이완과 사색을 불러일으킴으로 그들의 존재를 느끼고, 끊임없는 자아탐구를 위한 발견이 되고자 한다.
