여백주의를 이용한 웹사이트 표현연구

Abstract

오늘날 우리는 수없이 많은 양의 지식과 정보를 대하며 살고 있다. 정보의 호수에 떠밀려 때때로 `나 는 어디에 있는지 또 어디로 가야 하는지 방향감을 상실하고 혼돈과 복합적 가치체계에서 끊임없이 새로운 것에 대한 무분별한 수용만을 강요당하는 현실에 놓여 있음을 느낀다. 이런 사회 현상 속에서 인간은 사회의 `기능적 인간 이 되고 사회의 지배를 받는 수동적 위치로 그 가치가 변해간다. 본 논문은 각박한 사회환경 속에서 실체성의 상실로 고민하는 현대인의 고뇌와 그 자신의 얼굴 모습을 통해 뚜렷하고 명백한 삶의 목표를 잃은 채 부유하는 현대인의 초상에 대한 문제의식에서 출발한다. 현대사회에서 오는 현대인의 도덕적 의식결여와 무질서, 타락현상 등은 급속한 사회변화와 대량생산체제에서 오는 인간소외, 즉 인간성의 상실에서 오는 문제이다. 현대인들에게는 여유가 필요하다. 빠르게 변하는 세상에 대처하기 위한 노력도 쉬어가야 할 때인 듯 싶다. 마음의 여유가 필요한 이때에 현대인의 쉼터를 제공하고자 본 논문은 동양화에서의 여백에 그 바탕을 둔 여백주의 사상을 정신적인 배경으로 이용하되, 웹이라는 첨단분야에 그것의 현대적인 해석을 접목시켜 웹에서의 여백이란 무엇인지를 제공하며, 그것을 이용한 작품의 전개를 통하여 컴퓨터라는 첨단 매체에서도 현대인이 쉬어갈 수 있는 공간을 제공하고자 하는 마음에서 작업을 시도하게 되었다. 본 논문의 연구진행을 간략히 살펴보면 다음과 같이 진행된다. 첫째, 동양회화에 나타나는 여백의 개념 및 사상적, 정신적 배경에 관한 연구를 한다. 둘째, 이러한 동양회화의 여백의 표현적인 특성을 연구한다. 셋째, 여백주의란 무엇인지 그 사상적, 정신적 배경과 조형원리를 알아본다. 넷째, 위의 여백주의에 관한 현대적인 해석을 바탕으로 웹에서의 여백이란 무엇인가에 관한 연구를 통한 결론을 제시한다. 다섯째, 위의 과정에서 도출된 웹에서의 여백을 기초로 하여 그것을 시각적으로 제공할 수 있는 웹사이트를 제작한다. 이와 같은 웹사이트의 개발로 인하여 21세기의 각박한 사회에서 누구나 쉽게 이용하는 컴퓨터라는 첨단 매체를 통하여 동양회화에 나타난 여백, 즉 그들이 누렸던 안식과, 여유를 제공하고자 한다. 동양회화가 가지는 여백이 주는 심상의 발견과 한국미의 추구를 그와는 상반된 매체에 있어서도 적용 가능하게 하여 웹디자인에 있어서 새로운 방향성을 제시하고자 한다.; The concept of Blankism is to provide people of the modern world comfort, strength, encouragement. Its purpose hence is to delight the bodies and minds of industrial societies denizens with simplistic and realistic themes. Blankism would provide this delightfulness by appealing to the senses with space and comfort. This is possible because Blankism reinforces the human mind to seek the necessity of humanism and also a desire to return to nature and further, to have reflexivity in one s possibly lost identity. This identity is bring forth by an acute evaluation and interpretation of one s tradition with an attempt to inject the spirit of Blankness into modern arts. It is on this basis that this research started; to apply the spirit of blankness of Korean traditional arts, and Blankism, to Web design. The purpose was to develop a website that would give a sense of comfortableness by using the spirit of Blankism. Overcoming the barriers of two-dimensional expressions of Korean arts and also the cold, mechanistic limitations of the Internet communication medium, this research tried to approach humanness closely with the idea of Blankism. The variety of ways of expression was a challenge in this process, and there seems to be difficulties in defining Blankism with a digitalized viewpoint. However, the shared elements of social constituents do exist and it can be expressed. The ways of life across time and space varies enormously, but the basics of human nature are not ephemeral. Perhaps, we as people in the modern world are not aware of its existence. In this sense, Blankism is an effort to restore one s own identity and revive the weary minds and bodies. In conclusion, it is my hope that the Blankism, as a trend of though that has its deep roots in our traditional culture, would have positive implications in the international societies of arts at large, and furthermore that it would provide the opportunity for individuals to reflected upon their own situations and their being, to restore the identities they may have lost.
