사물을 통한 현대인의 관계성 표현

Abstract

A human s life of morden society is organized with the necessaries of life (food, clothing and shelter) and comunication with others highly developed information society leads the human s relationship with others to the instrumental way rather than emotional way. I regard this absurd social state should be discussed and make this issue as a main subject. As sociaty is getting complexed, people have their relationship by practical needs and regard others as more like consumption than human being . Before industrial society, one person s life is controled by traditonal conditions-family business, neighbors religion, birthplace, social status and gender. These restrict one s life but also give a sense of security, but the times of machine civilization, people lost other substitute authorities. Highly systematized and devided society make people s relationship weak. So, people in modern society are looking the meaning of life and value of existence from other people. In this phenomenon, we realize modern society tend to have instant relationship, but they eager to have the sence of security between people. I would like to express the relationship as emotional exchange with others in modern society with object in this thesis. The purpose of this study is metaphorical expression which is explained as hope to have relationship existentialy based on life instead of instrumental relationship. The theorogical background of this study is relationship in modern society in a view of sociology, and write about various explanation in modern art history and other artists who work with metaphor objects. The contents of my 7 art pieces are about a dual relationship with others and expectancy. In this study, this relationship is expressed with casting of mass products, remaked object and real object which help representation of secured life and emotional exchange instead of instant relationship. This study shows a possibility that each person could share same feelings through an art work. That can be possible by reason that we are contemporaries. Moreover we can expect that life and art cannot be separated because work is represented with ordinary object ; 현대사회속의 한 인간의 삶은 기본적인 의식주 생활뿐만 아니라 타인과의 만남, 사회적 관계가 매우 중요시되고 있다. 테크놀러지 발달에 따른 정보화 사회는 타인과의 관계가 광범위해지고 조직화되어 있지만 유대적인 면이나 감정적 교류보다는 표면적이며 하나의 수단적인 것으로 흐르게 된다. 본 연구는 그 어느 시대보다 인간과 인간과의 관계가 표면화되고 수단화되는 상황 속에서 더더욱 타인을 갈망하고 그리워한다는 현 시대 상황은 다루어 보아야 할 주제라 생각되어 표현동기로 삼았다. 사회가 조직화되고 복잡해질수록 현대인은 점점 더 필요에 의해 관계를 맺게 되었으며, 따라서 타인이라는 존재가 하나의 존재 로서 가치를 존중받는 것이 아니라 필요가 없어지면 등한시되는 하나의 소모품으로 인식되기에 이르렀다. 산업사회 이전의 전근대적 시대에는 한 개인의 삶은 여러 가지 전통적 결속들- 가업, 마을 공동체, 종교, 고향, 사회적 지위와 성별 역할에 이르기까지-에 의해 이루어지고 결정되었다. 이러한 요소들은 한 개인의 삶을 구속시키기도 하였으나 한 개인은 그런 테두리 안에서 타인과 유대적인 관계를 맺으며 심리적 안정감을 가지고 살았다. 그러나 기계문명 중심의 현대사회로 넘어오면서 그 속의 구성원들은 이제 삶의 의미와 안전을 제공해 줄 다른 준거(準據)들을 점점 더 많이 상실하게 된다. 고도로 조직화되고 분업화된 공업사회의 시스템은 타인과의 결속을 약화시켰으며 그 속을 살아가는 현대인들에게 삶의 의미와 안정감을 빼앗아가고 있다. 따라서 현대인들은 변하지 않을 삶의 의미와 자신의 실존적 가치를 그 무엇도 아닌 자신의 열망과 감정적 교류를 나눌 수 있는 곁에 있는 타인에게서 찾기에 이르렀다. 이와 같이 현대사회는 언뜻 보아 타인과의 관계가 아주 일회적이며 수단적인 성격을 지니고 있는 듯 하나 오히려 그렇기 때문에 타인과의 관계 속에서 심리적 안정감과 유대의식을 지향하고 있다는 점을 발견할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 현대인의 타인과의 관계성, 즉 일회적이며 수단적인 성격을 지니는 실질적, 기능적 관계와 반대로 타인과의 내밀한 감정적 교류와 유대의식을 지향하는 실존의 의미로서의 이중적 관계를 은유적 의미를 함축한 오브제를 통하여 표현하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 현대사회의 타인에 대한 일회적이며 수단적인 관계와 반대로 삶의 실존적 준거(準據)가 되어주는 관계를 지향하고자 하는 두 가지 이중적 관계를 은유적 의미가 내포된 오브제를 통하여 표현하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로는 사회학적 측면에서의 현대사회속의 인간존재와 타인과의 관계성을 살펴보고 현대 미술사 속에서 전개된 오브제의 다양한 해석방법을 기술하였으며 은유적 의미가 함축된 오브제를 이용하여 작업하는 작가들의 작품과 그 의미를 설명하였다. 작품의 표현내용으로는 현대인의 타인과의 이중적 관계와 이에 따르는 유대의식의 기대심리를 기술하였고 분석으로 본인의 작품 7점을 대상으로 표현내용과 방법에 근거하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 대량생산되는 사물을 캐스팅 하거나 또는 만들어낸 오브제, 실제 오브제를 사용함으로써 일회적이며 실질적인 관계성과 그 반대로 타인과의 감정적 교류와 유대감, 평온한 안식처와 삶에서 근본적으로 필요한 실존적 가치로서 타인을 은유하여 타인의 의미를 작품으로 표현한다. 본 연구를 통해 이러한 내용을 작품으로 표현함으로써 현 시대를 살아가는 같은 인간으로서 누구나 느낄 수 있는 감정을 미술작품으로서 공유할 수 있다는 가능성을 가지게 되었으며 일상적 사물을 통해 표현함으로써 미술과 일상은 결코 분리되지 않은 하나됨을 기대하게 되었다.
