도자조형으로 표현되는 자화상에 관한 연구

Abstract

인간의 예술활동에 대한 끊임없는 욕구는 본능적인 활동이며 이는 표현을 통해 성취·승화되어진다. 진정한 예술활동의 목적은 단순한 사실표현에 그치는 것이 아니라 예술가 자신의 표현욕구와 심원한 정신세계를 형상화시키는 데 있으며 그 근거는 항상 감정에 있다. 따라서 예술가는 감상자가 작품을 통해 감정을 느끼고, 상상하며, 생각하도록 유도한다. 본 논문은 사회적 문화적 상황 속에서 인간적인 것으로의 회복을 추구하여 인간에 대한 근본적인 물음으로 시작한 포스트모더니즘정신의 영향으로 바깥 세상과의 조화와 개인성의 추구를 통한 참다운 인간회복을 통해 도자예술매체를 통해 조형화 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 맥락을 근거로 본인은 자화상을 통해 내면의 다양한 모습을 형상화 시켜 표현해 보고자 하였으며 심상이 반영된 외형의 시대적 변화와 시각에 중점을 두었다. 이러한 표현은 형의 객관적인 재현뿐 아니라 대상의 내적 본질을 파악하는 작업이며 결국 그 대상의 완성을 의미한다. 이론적 배경으로 자화상의 정의와 그것이 시대의 모습을 간접적으로 반영하게 되는 역사적 과정을 고찰하였고, 다양한 작가들이 만들어낸 자화상에 표출된 그 내면의 심리표현에 대해 알아보고자 했다. 본 연구에서의 도자조형작업은 주로 두 갈래로 나뉘어서 표현되었다. 첫번째로는 실크스크린 프린트 된 얼굴 이미지와 내면을 상징하는 크고 작은 형상들이 다양하게 또는 반복, 확대, 축소, 결합 등의 방법으로 제작되었고 이는 인간이 가지고 있는 네 가지 모습 즉, 내가 바라보는 나의 모습, 내가 생각하는 타인이 보는 나의 모습, 타인이 바라보는 나의 모습, 그리고 본래의 나의 모습 등을 담고 있다. 두번째로는 본인이 지나온 삶 속에서 기억되는 시절의 모습, 기억나지 않는 유아기, 소녀의 모습인 유년시절, 고민 많던 청춘시절, 한 아이의 엄마가 된 현재의 모습들이 자화상으로 표현되었다. 내가 바라보는 나의 모습과 내가 희망하는 나의 모습을 혼합하여, 모성애란 감정을 갖을 수 있게 된 현재 본인의 모습을 나의 유아기와 대비시켜 재조명 해 보았다. 유약색채의 선택 및 사용방법에 있어서 다양한 색의 혼합을 배제하고 흑백 대비 효과만을 강조하였는데 이는 흑백 대비 효과가 주는 감정의 절제된 표현을 강조하기 위함이었다. 작업의 재료 선정은 획일화된 재료 이용을 배제하여 투명 아크릴 수지, 실크스크린 프린트등과 같은 타 재료와의 다양한 접근을 시도하여 다각적인 작품표현을 모색하였으며 추상적 감정 표현의 작품성을 높이기 위해 초기 작품활동의 맥락을 벗어나지 않고 그 바탕 위에 한층 성숙된 여자로서의 나, 작가로서의 나를 그리고자 노력했다. 제작기법은 주로 코일링 기법과 핀칭 기법, 판 성형을 이용해 각기 작품에 맞게 다양하게 사용하였다. 작품 소성은 1.5㎥ 도염식 가스가마에서 900。C를 마침온도로 8시간 1차 소성한 후, 2차 소성은 산화염으로 최고온도 1250。C를 마침온도로 10시간 소성 하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 추상적이고 포괄적인 개념을 가진 인간의 내면세계 속의 다양한 심상을 자화상의 구체화된 표현으로 접근하여 도자조형의 미래에 새로운 계기를 마련하고자 하였으며 가깝게는 본 연구자 자신의 자아성찰의 큰 계기가 되고자 하였다. ; Artistic desire in human societies is rather instinctive, and is achieved by manifestation of emotion. The purpose of the art is not to express the facts, but to give shape to how an artist feel about his or her inner world which is based on emotion as well as the real lives they are leading. Post-modernism became to pursue the restoration of humanity in this social, cultural situation. And this particular artistic genre accommodates different forms and materials and is characterized by overriding belief in open minded artistic expression. In this sense, I tried to express inner emotions, features, and a coupling point, where, the both could make invisible contact, through self-portrait which is most commonly used for painters when they are appealing and pouring their inner character or inevitability. We are into some basic aspects of human experience, since it is a feature of all human life to be confronted by boundaries on our choices and limits to our aspirations. Learning to live with frustration and with at least temporary failure of our cherished plans is part what is to be human. In this study, I intend to share my experience, since I was, and am experiencing my own generative as a woman, as an artist, and as a mother. I also describe What am I in various point of views such as Who do I think I am , Who do they think I am , and Who I am . For the working techniques, I chose 3 most commonly used techniques such as coiling technique, pinching techniques, and slab-built techniques to mold various images of face Concerning firing, the first firing was done in 1.5㎥gas kiln reaching a temperature 900℃ for 8hours, and the second firing was set up at 1250℃ for 10 hours. In the conclusion, through the self-portrait, I intended to express the cognition of inner world that contains abstract and comprehensive notion based on one s experience. The meaning of this work lies in realizing the encounter between the feature and emotion through true understanding of myself. And it was an opportunity for me to retrospect, and to realize who really I am .
