인체의 이미지를 응용한 도자 화기 디자인 연구

Abstract

인체란 우리들 자신이며 우리가 우리들 자신에게 얘기하고 싶은 온갖 기억들을 불러일으킨다. K.크라크, 『누드의 미술사』. 이 재호(역) (서울: 열화당) 1982. p12 인간의 전체성 표현이 각 시대가 요구하는 방향으로 변해왔듯이 미의 반영이 내적 외적으로 변모되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 인체는 움직이는 표현의 도구인 것처럼 우리가 살고 있는 생활공간 속에 문화 · 양식이 발전하여 왔고 여기서 본 연구자는 인간에게서 인체는 가장 신비스럽고 무한한 미적 가치를 지닌 형상으로 인체를 탐구하고, 그것으로 인한 인체의 자세나 동작의 변화에 따른 단순 · 생략 · 과장 · 확대 등을 응용하여 화기 디자인 연구하고 화기의 변형된 모습이 생활환경에 따라 변화를 주고 공간을 아름답게 장식 할 수 있는 화기로써 꽃과 함께 인간이 보다 실내에서 편안함을 줄 수 있는 기능을 갖춘 화기로 표현하였다. 현대 사회에서 과학문명의 발달과 함께 인간은 새로운 것에 대한 강한 욕구를 가지며 다양한 경험으로 인해 흥미를 얻는다. 현대 도자기가 실용적인 기(器)위주의 작품과 순수 오브제적 추상적인 작품이 공존되어 나타나고 있다. 인체에 관해서 본다면, 고대 · 현대 그리고 미래에도 그 자체를 응용한 많은 예술 작품이 나올 것이다. 인체가 보여주는 다양한 표현과 선의 이미지는 대중에게 가장 쉽게 접근 할 수 있고, 사람들이 보는 시각에 있어서 무한한 생명력을 불러 이를 킬 수 있는 소재가 될 수 있다. 본 연구자는 인체라는 소재를 통하여 기능과 미를 나타낸 도자 화기 디자인을 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 단순히 화기로써 꽃을 꽂는 역할뿐만 아니라 꽂는 사람의 의지에 따라서 공간을 다양하게 연출하여 새로운 화기로 변화 있게 구성하는데 의미를 둔다. 연구 방법으로 인체와 화기에 관한 문헌과 자료조사에서 첫째, 인체는 매우 복잡하고 다양한 구조와 기능을 가진 형상이며, 조각의 역사 자료를 통해 인체미의 변천을 살펴보고, 아름다운 인체의 움직임과 변화에 따라 여러 가지 상호작용을 결합하여 생명력이 있는 현대적인 화기로 재구성해 보다 나은 공간 창출에 기여할 수 있는 도자 화기로 표현해보고자 하였다. 둘째, 화기를 통해 역사적 배경과 종류 그리고 꽃 예술에 관해 살펴보고 일반적인 개념과 용도를 알아보았다. 그리고 인체를 소재로 한 현대 화기의 작품을 제시하고 연구하여 본 연구자의 작품 제작에 참고하였다. 또한 실내 공간을 편안하고 변화 있는 분위기를 조성 시키고자 공간 배치에 따른 시각적인 미와 기능을 갖춘 화기디자인으로 발전시키고자 하였다. 이미지 전개 과정에서는 인체가 가지고 있는 특성을 재해석하고 움직임을 통한 동작 표현 변화 속에 내재된 우연성을 기본으로 디자인하였다. 특히 앉아 있거나, 서있는 기본자세부터 역동적으로 움직이는 댄스나 스포츠의 동세까지 살펴보고, 응용 · 변형시켜 배치하였으며 전개 과정을 그림과 도면으로 제시하였다. 작품 제작은 인체 동세의 변화에 따른 이미지 반복 표현을 위해 다수의 화기를 제작 할 수 있는 이장 주입 성형기법을 사용하였다. 태토로는 실크 소지를 사용하였고, 장식적인 효과가 필요한 작품에는 고온 안료에 실크 소지를 섞어서 색 소지를 만들어 사용했다. 시유는 화기의 기능성을 고려하여 투명유를 안쪽 또는 전체 담금 · 스프레이 시유를 해서 간결하고 깨끗한 이미지표현을 하였다. 소성방법은 가스가마에서 최고 온도 900℃까지 8시간동안 1차 소성 하였으며, 2차 소성은 가스 가마와 전기가마에서 최고 온도 1250℃까지 10시간에 걸쳐 산화염소성과 환원염소성을 각각 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 인체가 가지고 있는 내적 · 외적 이미지 표현이 무한한 변화의 요소와 가능성을 보여준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 인체의 아름다움을 화기의 기능성에 결합하여 아름다운 조화로 생활공간에서 꽃을 꽂는 기능으로써 만족과 편안함을 줄 수 있는 창조적인 대상임을 인식하게 되었고, 또한 소재로서 인체의 변화는 다양한 시각에서 가능성을 가지고 끊임없이 연구하고 표출시켜 작품에 부여할 수 있다는 것을 알게 되었다. 앞으로 본 연구의 바탕으로 인체의 소재를 현대적인 감각으로 잘 조화시킴으로써 좀더 창의적인 작품세계가 되었으면 한다. ; The human figure is a narration of our own self and in it there is the history of individual beings. Just as expressions have changed with time and trend, reflection of external and internal aesthetics have also changed. The human body is a moving tool that expresses our innermost thoughts and this study has concentrated in researching on the human figure with the notion that it is a source of inspiration that provides us with infinite amount of aesthetical information. In this study, the human figure has been simplified, exaggerated, enlarged and experimented to use the imagery and form on ceramic vase designs. Today with such rapid developments in technology, people have become hungry for new information and new phenomenon. Consequently, they are always searching for new experiences to find inspiration. This is also reflected in ceramics. Many modern works have combined function with formative abstract expressions. When we observe this with the human figure in mind, it is true to state that the human figure will continue to be used as a subject of expression in the future. It is the most familiar subject for the public and it provides artists with infinite source of inspiration. The linear and formative aspects of the figure can easily be simplified, exaggerated and so on whilst also giving life to the artist and the observer. Hence this study concentrates to combine function and aesthetics by using the human figure as the main subject to create ceramic vases. The notion of containing flowers in vases creates a whole new atmosphere in an environment. Therefore this study has also researched on this effect. Materials on the human figure and vases were collected. The research proved firstly that the human figure can be observed in either a simple or complex manner for it has both qualities. By examining sculptural works on the human figure, the study has endeavored to discover the best method of translating the human figure on to vase forms. Secondly, vases using the human figure were researched on to understand its functional aspects. Furthermore, the use of space was also taken into consideration to examine how the vase form operates in a given space. The human figure was observed in many different angles. Sitting, standing, moving, dancing and sports actions were carefully examined to translate the image onto vase forms. The forms were made using the slip-casting method in ceramics for repeated production. The porcelain clay body was used and for some of the works high-temperature colored slips were mixed into the clay. A transparent glaze was used on all the pieces. The work was fired in a gas kiln. The first firing was to 900℃ and it took 8 hours. For the second firing, some were fired in a gas kiln and some in an electric kiln. The temperature reached 1250℃ in 10 hours. Some were fired in a reduction firing and some in an oxidation firing. The study showed that the human figure provided infinite possibilities in expressing inner and outer emotions. The objective of the study is to translate pleasing body movements on to vase forms to decorate an interior space. Also, the study hopes to inform that a single subject material is able to provide a whole new diversity in art. This will be the foundation to future research work.
