환경친화적 공중화장실 디자인 모형사례연구

Abstract

본 연구는 우리나라 공중화장실에 나타난 제반 문제점의 해결방안으로서 환경친화적 접근을 통한 공중화장실의 모형사례연구이다. 본 연구자는 도시환경 평가를 통해 나타나는 공중화장실의 문제점을 지적하고 현재 서울의 공중화장실에 대한 객관적 자료에 근거하여 해결방안을 모색하고자 한다. 도시환경을 이루는 구성요소로서의 화장실 문화에 대한 재고찰과 이용자의 다양한 요구사항을 반영한 인간행태중심의 사고로 공중화장실을 계획하며 새로운 생태학적 패러다임에 입각한 시스템적 관점에서 도시환경을 살펴보고 기존의 공중화장실문화에 대한 새로운 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구는 환경친화적 접근을 통해 기존 수세식 화장실의 비환경적 요소 극복방안을 제시하여 화장실 오수로 인한 수자원의 오염문제를 표면화시킨다. 환경부하 절감을 위한 공장가공재의 활용방안으로 Unit System의 도입에 의한 공중화장실 디자인을 하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 도시환경의 한 요소를 차지하는 도심의 공중화장실의 부정적 요소를 배제할 수 있고 그 지역 주변 환경의 문화적, 예술적 조화를 이루면서도 상징적인 조형물 형태의 자연과 과학이 만나는 환경친화적인 관점에 초점을 두고 그 논리를 전개해 나가고자 한다. 문화의식의 전제이자 결과로서의 삶의 질의 향상은 단순히 물질적이고 경제적인 영역에서 뿐 아니라 정신적인 영역에서 함께 일어나야 한다. 환경을 바꿈으로서 화장실이라는 작은 공간에 대한 의식의 변화를 이룰 수 있는 것이다. 그러므로 본 연구자는 시대적 패러다임의 전환에 따른 시민의식의 재고찰을 통해 다음과 같은 과정으로 연구를 진행하였다. 1장에서는 공중화장실이라는 공간의 연구가치와 범위 및 방향에 대하여 제시한다. 2장에서는 도시환경 구성요소로써의 공중화장실 문화에 대한 전반적인 재고찰을 통해 건조환경에 대한 인식의 전환으로 인한 공중화장실의 문제점을 이용자 행태적 관점에서 지적하며 그에 따른 공중화장실의 문화적 차원의 질적 전환의 필요성을 언급한다. 3장에서는 환경친화적 공중화장실 디자인을 하기위한 이론적 배경에 대하여 알아보고 환경친화적 공중화장실에 대한 디자인적 접근방법으로 Unit System에 따른 디자인과정을 진행함을 밝히고 이러한 접근 방법으로 환경친화적 공중화장실을 디자인하는 것에 대한 타당성과 계획방법에 대하여 제시한다. 4장에서는 공중화장실의 이용자 행태별, 인체공학적 접근, 공간조직 구성에 따른 유형에 대한 분석을 통해 공간 프로그래밍 과정을 진행한다. 이것은 디자인을 위한 전제 과제이며 제5장의 디자인과정과 상호 밀접한 관련성을 가지고 있다. 5장에서는 Unit System을 적용한 공중화장실의 모형사례연구의 과정으로 진행되어지며 디자인 개념을 표면화시키기 위한 시각화 과정과 공간원리의 적용을 통한 평면 도출과정 색채계획등 디자인 과정의 세부적 사항들을 유형별로 정리한다. 6장에서는 새로운 개념의 복합문화적 공중화장실 문화에 대한 자연친화적 공중화장실 모형사례에 대한 평가를 내리고 연구의 전 과정을 통해 내린 결과와 의의를 정리한다. ; This thesis presents a study on the model of public restrooms based on an ecology-friendly approach as a solution to the various problems appeared in the countrys public restrooms. This research points out the problems of the current public restrooms as brought up from urban environmental evaluation and tries to find out a solution based on the objective data of the current public restrooms in Seoul. The proposed planning and design of public restrooms reconsiders the culture of public restroom as a constituent of urban environment and reflects the various needs of users by human behavioral analysis. This study views the urban environment as a system by means of a new ecological paradigm and suggests an alternative idea on the present culture of public restrooms. This research also brings up the matter of water pollution due to the sewage from toilets and presents an alternative solution to the anti-environmental elements of the present flush toilet. The proposed design methodology will introduce the unit system as an application of prefabricated materials in order to reduce environmental loads. This research tries to figure out a solution focused on an ecology-friendly viewpoint where nature and science meet by means of a symbolic piece of formative arts harmonizing the communitys cultures and arts and removing the negative aspects of public restrooms that constitutes an urban environment. The improvement on the quality of life as a premise and a result of cultural consciousness should be achieved not only in the area of economy but also in the area of minds. The change of consciousness about a small space of a public restroom can be achieved by redesigning the environment. Thus, the following studies have been performed through an overall reconsideration of civic consciousness following the transition of paradigms of the times. Chapter 1 presents the value of the research on the space of public restrooms and its scope and direction. Chapter 2 points out the problems of a public restroom due to the change of consciousness about artificial environments from a user behavioral viewpoint through an overall reconsideration of the culture of the public restroom as a constituent of the urban environment and talks about the following needs of the qualitative conversion of public restrooms on a cultural level. Chapter 3 investigates the theoretical background for ecology-friendly public restroom designs, defines the unit system as an ecology-friendly design methodology and presents its propriety and planning methods. Chapter 4 presents the spatial programming process from the analysis of different types of user behaviors, human scales, and spatial organizations. This is a prerequisite for the design and is also closely related to the design process in Chapter 5. Chapter 5 shows a case study on the model of public restrooms that adopted the unit system and presents and categorizes the details of the design process such as the visualization of the design concept, a ground plan induction process through an application of the principle of space, and a color planning, etc. Chapter 6 evaluates the model case of ecology-friendly public restrooms for a new concept of the complex culture of public restrooms and summarizes the results and the significance of this research.
