물의 물질적 상상력을 통한 도자조형

Abstract

상상력은 예술적 창조의 원동력이다. 모든 사물들은 각각의 고유한 이미지를 통해 인간의 내면에서 상상을 일으키는 대상이 된다. 자연의 원초적 요소인 물은 생명의 근원을 이루는 존재이다. 물은 다양한 이미지를 통해 예술활동의 독특한 정신적 모티브가 된다. 과거로부터 현재까지 이 소재는 의미 있게 다루어져 왔다. 자연에 내재한 물의 고유한 의미는 충분히 상상적인 이미지로 존재한다. 물은 무형의 형태로 편견 없이 자유로운 상상력에 도움을 준다. 본 연구는 가스 통 바슐라르의 물질적 상상력 이론을 바탕으로 물이 지니는 다양한 이미지를 연구하고, 조형화 시킴으로써 내적 감흥을 지닌 도자조형물의 가능성을 시사하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 물은 대상으로 바슐라르의 물질적 상상력 이론에 입각하여 상상력을 물질적 상상력과 형식적 상상력으로 구분한다. 그리고 물이 물질적으로 파악될 때 그 상상력이 투사하는 이미지는 조형화에 있어 더욱 활발해짐을 이론적으로 제시하고, 조형과정에서 독자적인 조형적 가치를 규명하기 위하여 물에 대한 일반적인 고찰을 통해 물이 지니는 본질을 살펴보고, 물의 이미지의 다양한 표현을 살펴봄으로써 조형원리를 구조적으로 이해하고 물이 미학적 의미를 파악한다. 작품의 디자인 과정에서는 물의 내재된 이미지를 염 두 하여 새로운 아름다움을 지닌 조형 물을 제작한다. 외적인 형태로부터 접근하여 내적인 이미지로 옮아가는 과정 속에서 폭 넓게 작용하는 상상력을 첨가하여 시각적으로 더욱 넉넉한 형상을 재현시킨다. 작품 표현에서는 물이 지니는 이미지와 본질적 특성을 고려하여 작품을 제작하고 내용과 조형적인 측면에서 연구한다. 작품제작 방법에서는 코일 링, 물레성형, 판 성형, 주입성형 등으로 작품을 제작하고, 소지는 백자점토와 석 기질점토 등을 사용한다. 유약은 기물형태에 알맞은 무광택유를 분무시유하고 부분에 따라 유동적인 물의 흐름을 나타내기 위해 용융온도가 1250℃이한인 유약을 사용하여 유약의 흘러내리는 효과를 살린다. 소성은 900℃까지 가스가마에서 1차 소성 후, 산화염으로 1250℃까지 2차 소성한다. 이상과 같은 연구로 물의 이미지에 반영된 내적 본질을 파악함으로써 보다 깊은 물상의 이해를 가능케 하였으며, 그것에 이끌려진 많은 연상작용은 작품과 연결시켜 다양한 작품을 모색하는 계기가 되었다. 자연물에 대한 새로운 이해와 접근의 시도는 자연에 다양한 예술작품의 소재가 있음을 개인식 시키며 앞으로도 깊이 있는 도자조형작업에 기여할 것이다. ; Imagination is motive power of art creation. All things become the object of imagination from the inside of human beings through each unique image. A nature s element, water, is the existence of the source of life. Water becomes a unique spiritual motif of art activities. From the past to now this material has been treated meaningfully. The original meaning of water immanent in nature exists as fully imaginary image. Water helps have free imagination without any prejudice with its abstract form. This study has a purpose to suggest the possibility of pottery modeling object with inner emotions by examining and modeling various images of water based on the materialistic imagination of Gaston Bachelard. The contents of this study divide imagination into materialistic and formal imagination based on Bachelard s L imagination materielle with the object of water. Also, this paper theoretically suggests that the image of imagination becomes more activated in modeling when water is grasped materialistially, examines the essence of water through the general examination on water to identify its unique modeling value in the process of modeling, understands modeling principles by analyzing the precedent art pieces related to the contents of this study. In the process of designing work, remembrance and experience about water image, the movement, direction of the object, the inside and outside, the front and the back are totally grasped. Also, visually rich image is presented by adding imagination widely acting in the process of transforming to the work. In the expression of the work, ten pieces of work are produced considering the natural characteristics of water, and I study them in the aspect of contents and modeling. As a production method, coiling, throwing, slab building, and slip casting are used, and white clay and combined clay as the base clay. Non-glossy glaze is sprayed as a glaze suitable for an object, and the glaze which can expresses the fluid flow of water is used. The first firing is done in 900℃ kiln, and the second one is done at 1250℃ with oxidized firing. A study as above enables us to do better understanding of water image in the passive modeling work limited to the existing surface movement of water, and a lot of connected actions drawn by this can give a chance of coming up with various kinds of work. A new understanding of a natural object and an attempt for approach to it makes us recognize that there are various kinds of materials for an art piece, and it will contribute to deep pottery modeling work.
