선을 통한 '현대인의 심리' 시각표현 연구

Abstract

우리 지금까지 탐구하고 생각하며 그려온 모든 행위의 목표는 궁극적으로 자신의 감정을 표출하려는데 있다. 이 사실은 가장 기본적이면서도 우리가 가장 망각하기 쉬운 사실이다. 모든 조형예술은 얽혀지는 것이 아니라, 우선적으로 보여지는 것이고 가장 효과적으로 보여지기 위해서는 자신의 감성의 표현에 설득력이 있어야 한다. 감성 표현의 시각화의 과정에서 작가가 그의 내면세계를 표출하고자 할 때, 표현의 언어로서 조형 요소들을 사용하게 된다. 이 때에 쓰여지는 조형 요소들은 표현자의 독특한 구성력에 의해 결합, 조절, 변용 되는데, 작가의 내면적 의도는 이과 정을 통해 객관화되며 조형 요소들을 객관화하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이 다양한 조형요소 가운데 가장 기본적이면서 표현에 있어서 다양한 가능성을 가진 선에 대한 고찰을 집중적으로, 현대인의 심리를 소재로 택하여 연구하였다. 인간은 그들의 편의와 행복을 위하여 도구를 발전시키고 자연의 정복하여 현대사회와 같은 눈부신 기계문명을 탄생시켰다. 물질의 풍요 속에서, 산업 문명의 중독으로 인간상실과 자아상실 증의 원인 모를 불안감과 무엇인가 잃어버린 것만 같은 공허감, 그리고 한 치의 여유도 없이 쫓기고 있는 삶 속에서 마음의 안정과 정신의 고향을 잃고 방황하고 있는 것이다. 우리가 참된 자아를 찾고 내적인 힘과 안전성의 원천을 찾으려면 우리는 우리 자신의 참된 본질부터 파악하려는 노력을 해야 한다. 우리가 남을 보듯이 우리 자신을 바라볼 수 있을 때 공감할 수 있는 능력으로 참된 인간의 본질에 다가설 수 있는 것이다. 인간의 본질을 표현하는 여러 방법 중 특별히 선을 주도구로 하는 시각표현 연구를 하게 된 이유는, 선이 다른 어떤 기본 요소보다 더 심상의 표현에 자유로울 수 있고 사용하는 사람이나 도구에 의해서 개성적이면서도 불규칙적이고 변화적인 특성으로 인해 다양한 감성의 표현에 설득력을 지니고 있기 때문이다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는, 디자인이 문화의 이해에서부터 시작하는 것을 전제로 하고 본 연구자의 시각표현에서 나타나는 여러 가지 표현 요소를 이해하기 위해 시각언어로서의 선이 문화적인 요소로 달라지는 것을 연구한다. 또, 감정표현을 위해 사용되는 선의 사용법을 연구하고 그것을 현대인의 심리라는 소재에 접목하여 본다. 그 과정에서 본인 작품의 모든 요소가 그 자체로서의 중요성보다는 그것이 지니는 관계에 의해 성질이 파악되는 것임을 알게 되었다. 시각언어를 이해하고 작품과 소통하는 것이 모든 사람의 의무일리는 없겠지만 예술생활을 향유할 자격을 갖추는 것은 현대 인간의 심리를 이해하고 더 나아가서 인간의 삶의 질을 높이게 되는 중요한 일일 것이다. ; The ultimate goal of all the activities we have searched for and contemplated so far is to express our emotion. This is a fact that is the most basic, yet easiest to forget. All the formative arts is not a thing to be read but to be shown. To make your work of arts shown most effectively, you must be highly persuasive in the expression of your emotion. When an artist intends to externalize his internal world in the course of visualizing the emotion. one use formative factors as a language of expression. The formative factors used for this purpose are combined, regulated, and transformed according to the creative power of composition of the artist. The internal intention of the artist as well as the formative factors becomes objectified through this process. This study is mainly focused on the line which is the most fundamental formative factors and which has a diverse possibility in expression, and its effectiveness in expressing solitude among many human emotions. Men have developed tools and conquered nature for their conveniences and happiness, and have succeeded in building the brilliant modern mechanical society. In abundance of materials, however, men come to lose humanity and their self intoxicated by industrial civilization. They feel emptiness and anxiety of being hunted by something dreadful not knowing what it really is. In the suffocating life, they go astray and wander without finding comfort and spiritual home. In order to find the true self, internal power and the source of security, first, we must exert ourselves to see the true substance of ourselves. Only when we can penetrate ourselves as we do others, then we can approach the true nature of men. The reason I chose the visual expression using lines as its among many means of expressing the true nature of men is that lines can be sued more freely in expressing images than any other basic factors. Besides they are more cogent in the expression of diverse emotion according to the person who draw them, or to the tools used on account of their distinctive, and variable characteristics. Thus on the premise that design starts from the understanding of a culture, I will examine how lines when used as a visual language can vary according to the cultural factors and furthermore how they can be used effectively to understand various expressional factors in my visual expression. In addition, I will study how to use line to express emotion, expecially that of solitude of man. During the course, all the factors in my works should preferably understood as a relationship between the factors rather than as a work itself. Of course, it is never the obligation of all the people to understand visual language, and to communicate with works through it. Nevertheless, to be qualified to appreciate a work of art will ultimately enable one to understand the human solitude, and to improve the quality of human life.
