동성애자에게로의 접근 : 목회상담적 입장에서

Abstract

정신의학계에서는 DSM을 통해 동성애에 대한 입장을 확실히 하고 있고, 심리학계에서도 앞다투어 자신들의 연구결과를 발표하고 있는 반면, 기독교계에서의 동성애에 대한 논의는 아직도 문제제기 차원에 머물러 있다. 근래들어 동성애를 다룬 서적이나 영화를 쉽게 접할 수 있고, 기독교 관련 잡지나 학술지에서까지 동성애에 대한 연구논문을 찾아볼 수 있는 것으로 보아 변화의 바람은 일고 있는 것에는 의심의 여지가 없다. 그러나 주지하다시피 대부분의 신학자들은 별도의 연구와 노력에 의한 것이 아니라 오직 성서의 기록을 토대로 대부분 부정적인 시각에서의 이를 다루고 있다. 이제라도 기독교계에서 동성애가 논의의 대상으로 인정되고 있다는 것 자체만으로 기독교인인 동성애자들의 문제 해결에 도움이 되리라 생각되지만, 열심있는 연구와 정확한 지식이 없는 상태에서의 동성애에 대한 논의는 오히려 위험하기까지 하다. 교회나 동성애자 모두가 침묵을 지키던 과거와는 달리 교회에서는 무조건적인 비판과 정죄로 그들을 예수 그리스도의 품안에서 내몰고 있으며, 동성애자들 자신도 그러한 비판과 정죄에 대해 불편한 마음을 가지고 교회를 떠나가고 있다. 어쩌면 우리는 그 영혼들을 실족케 하는 옳지 못한 도구로 쓰여지고 있는 것은 아닌지 다시 한번 생각해 볼 문제이다. 혹 하나님을 진정으로 사랑하고 그분의 품안에 거하기를 원하지만, 자신의 성향 때문에, 그리고 교회의 비판적인 시각 때문에 어쩔 수 없이 교회를 떠나는 동성애자들이 있다면, 그들의 방황과 아픔에 대해 방관자로만 머물수는 없는 것이다. 본 논문은 크게 네 가지로 나누어진다. 첫째, 동성애의 개념과 논의의 쟁점이 되고 있는 동성애의 원인에 대한 정신의학과 심리학계의 연구결과를 살펴보았고, 두 번째 장에서는 성서에서 동성애에 대해 무엇이라 이야기하고 있는지 구약에 신약의 성서본문을 찾아서 신학자들의 의견을 비교하여 실었다. 셋째, 설문조사를 통하여 기독교인들이 동성애자에 대해 어떠한 시각을 가지고 있는지 조사하였고, 마지막으로 목회상담적 입장에서 우리가 그들을 어떻게 목회적으로 돌볼것인가에 관한 논의를 다루었다. 연구결과 동성애의 정의도 학자들간에 그리고 이성애자와 동성애자들간에 차이가 있음을 알았고, 동성애의 원인에 대한 논의를 통해 아직까지 정확한 원인이 무엇인지 밝혀지지 않았기 때문에 누구도 동성애자 성향 변화의 결과를 예측하고 속단할 수 없음을 알았다. 또한 설문조사를 통하여 기독교인들이 타 종교인들보다 동성애에 대해 부정적인 시각을 보이고 있긴 하지만. 젊은 층으로 갈수록 무조건적인 정죄보다는 이해하고 돌보려는 입장이 늘어가고 있다는 결과를 얻었다. 동성애자 문제에 대한 해답은 어느 곳에도 주어지지 않았다. 그러나 아무런 대책이나 노력없이 목회현장에서 앞으로 그들을 마주하게 될 때 무관심과 비판으로만 일관한다면, 해답의 통로로 향하기는 쉽지 않을 것이다. 따라서 먼저 그들의 아픔과 눈물을 관심어린 눈으로 바라보고, 그들의 목소리를 듣기 위해 노력하는 모습을 그들에게 보인다면 해답의 출구가 보일 것이라 확신한다. 물론 하나님의 도우심의 손길을 기다리면서 말이다.; The psychiatry world takes a determined attitude to homosexuality by DSM and the psychology world also scrambles to present their findings, whereas discussion about homosexuality in the Christianity world still remains in the level of raising a problem. In these days, judging from we can easily come into contact with homosexuality-related books or movies and we can readily find homosexuality-related studies even in magazines or academic journals relating to the Christianity, there is no room for doubt that changes begin blow. But, as is generally known, most theologists handle this problem in the negative viewpoint based not on additional studies and efforts but on the only records of the Bible. It is deemed the fact itself that homosexuality is recognized as a subject of discussion in the Christianity world helps the Christian homosexuals to solve their problems. But, discussion about homosexuality is definitely dangerous without in-depth studies and correct knowledge. We have no choice but to remain indifferent to wandering and pain of homosexuals, who leave church inevitably owing to their propensity and critical eyes of church though they love the God sincerely and hope to be nestled in the God. This study is classified into four (4) chapters as follows; In the first chapter, the researcher examined findings of the psychiatry and psychology world with respect to the concept of homosexuality and the cause of homosexuality being at issue. In the second chapter, the researcher reviewed homosexuality mentioned in the Bible by reading the text of the New and Old Testament and compared theologists opinions. In the third chapter, the researcher investigated Christians s viewpoints toward homosexuals based on questionnaire. In the final chapter, the researcher discussed how the pastor should care for them in the light of pastoral counseling. Findings of this study revealed that no one can forecast and decide hastily changes in homosexual propensity. And, it was revealed that Christians have more negative viewpoint toward homosexuality than believers in other religions whereas younger Christians have tend to understand and care for them increasingly rather than unconditional judgment on them for guiltiness in the questionnaire. There is no definite solution for homosexual problems. Therefore, to find solutions for them, it is required to take an interest in their pain and to show homosexuals our favorable attitude to them. Of course, they should wait relief of the God.
