기하학적 양괴와 공간의 결합을 통한 표현

Abstract

조각에 있어 양괴와 공간에 대한 탐구는 지속적인 관심사이다. 독립적인 물체가 삼차원의 공간에 존재할 때, 전통적인 의미에서 그 공간은 조각이 놓이는 장소로서의 의미를 갖는다. 더 나아가 20세기 조각에서는 작품 그 자체에 내재되어 있는 또 하나의 공간은 외부공간과 작품을 연결하여 주는 역할을 하며, mass와 동일한 가치를 지닌 개념으로 이해된다. 본 연구에서는 공간을 하나의 구성요소로 하요 양괴와 결합된 추상형태를 형상화 함으로써 조각에서 끊임없이 추구되고 있는 量과 空間의 문제와 관련하여 기하학적 추상형태를 표현하는데 의의가 있다. 공간 개념의 확장으로 인하여 공간을 mass와 동일한 가치를 지닌 근본적인 조형요소로 여겨, 실제로 양괴와 공간을 결합시켜 나타나는 대비효과와 전체성의 획들을 문제로 제기한다. 본 연구의 목적은 기하학적인 양괴와 공간의 결합을 통해 전체성이 강조되는 추상형태를 표현하는데 있다. 본 연구의 기본도구는 문헌과 작품표현 및 작품 분석이다. 표현대상은 기하학적인 양괴와 공간의 대비에서 오는 전체성의 획득이다. 표현방법은 기하학적 양괴와 공간을 그 형태에서 변화하고, 여러 가지 방법으로 결함 시킴으로써 전체성을 확보하도록 하여 7점을 표현하였다. 작품분석은 기하학적 양괴와 공간의 대비에서 오는 전체성을 검증하기 위하여 대비의 원리를 관점으로 하여 분석하였다. 기하학적인 양과 공간을 변형하여 다양한 방법으로 결합하고 그에 따라 나타나는 조형적 특성을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양괴는 공간 내부에서 중량감이 극대화되며, 공간 속에 놓이거나 공간을 구획하면서 공간과 대비를 이룬다. 둘째, 양괴와 공간의 frame이 결합되었을 때, 변화의 긴밀 감, 다양성과 더불어 방향성과 역동성을 느낄 수 있다. 셋째, 견고하고 강한 느낌을 주는 철은 부식처리에 의하여 얻어진 따뜻한 색조와 유연한 질감으로 인해 cement의 구축적이고 강한 느낌과 조화를 이루었다. 부식되지 않은 철은 철재 본래의 색감과 질감이 자연스럽게 드러나 중량감을 더하여 주며, 안정감을 이룬다. 괴체적인 image의 나무는 비교적 가는 철 frame과 만나 형의 결합을 효과적으로 이루어 생동감을 나타내었다. 넷째, 반대되는 가치를 지닌 공간과 양괴는 서로 긴밀하게 결합되어 생 동적으로 융화되어 전체성을 이룬다. ; An exploration about mass and space in sculpting becomes the object of lasting interest, the space has meaning as the place where sculpture is located. Furthermore, another space internalized in the work itself plays a role of linking it to the external space. This study has a meaning in that it expresses geometric abstract sculpture related to the mass and space which are continuously pursued in sculpture by imaging an abstract form combined with mass, taking space as a compositional element. This study raises contrasting effect, material effect, change and totality appearing through combination between geometric mass and space as a question. The purpose of this study is to express an abstract form which emphasis totality and uniformity by combining geometric mass with space. The contents of this study include geometric concept in the developing process of impressionism to abstractionism and the developing method of modeling factors are also examined through compositional artists abstractionism. A study method takes literature and work production as a basis tool, and 7 works are suggested as the subject of analysis composed only of cement and steel, wood and steel, and steel each in mass and space. As an analysis of the works, visual characteristics are examined based on the contrast of mass and space, material effect, change and totality. The results of analyzing the contrasting effect and modeling characteristics of combination between geometric mass and space are as follows. First, mass is maximized in space, and makes contrast by occupying space or compositioning. Second, when mass is combined with space, space can have dynamic feeling different from the existing features. Third, in material effect, steel has strong feeling but is expressed into warm color tone by corrosion, and contrasted to the urban and structural feeling of cement not corroded steel reveals its natural color. The simple image of wood makes the combination of forms effective in the space of steel. Fourth, space and mass is stimulated by contrasting value, and each characteristic is harmonized and made into totality at the same time.
