정체성의 표상으로서의 이미지

Abstract

모든 개인은 다양한 형태의 관행에 기초한, 일정한 종류의 존재론적 안전의 틀을 발달시킨다. 상품 자본주의의 현대사회에서 이러한 개인적 자율성, 자기정의, 진정한 삶, 또는 개인적 완성이라는 욕구들은 모두 시장이 제공하는 재화를 소유하고 소비시키려는 욕구로 뒤바뀐다. 이는 본질적으로 자멸적이며, 욕망의 일시적 달램과 욕구의 지속적 좌절을 초래한다. 현대인은 실존적 문제를 위협하는 위기상황에 직면하게 된 것이다. 그로 인한 불안과 혼란한 상황을, 전통적 의미로서의 신의 자리에 수많은 대체물로 자리를 바꿔가며 은폐하려 한다. 대중매체는 이러한 전략을 한층 강화시키는 역할을 한다. 시장지배의 영속에 필수 불가결한 개인적 결핍으로 인한 불안과 공포를 이용하여, 그 생명력을 지속시킨다. 이러한 현상은 가치관의 변화와 함께 최근 예술 경향에서도 예외가 될 수 없었다. 후기 산업사회의 메커니즘 속에서 작품은 제작, 분배, 소비되고 분류되는 사회제도 인 것이다. 다원화된 시대상황을 찬미하건 반대하건 간에, 타자에 대한 관심과 함께 모더니즘에서 금기시하던 영역 간의 경계 허물기가 난무하게 되었다. 표현 방법에 있어서도 전통적인 수공적 제작보다 사진, 컴퓨터, 비디오 등의 매스 미디어 사용이 더 설득력을 지닌다. 본인은 작업에서 이러한 동시대의 위협 받는 시대상황을 반영한다. 그 시도로서, 먼저 현대인들의 획일화 되어 가는, 후기 자본주의적 현실을 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 이를 위협 받고 있는 자아정체성의 문제로 확장 시켜, 자끄 라깡(Jaques Lacan, 1901-1981)의 후기구조주의 정신분석학을 토대로, 본인의 조형 이미지를 풀어 나간다. 본인 자신에 대해 가지고 있는 자화상은 작업에서 ‘군중’과 ‘아버지’로 표상 되듯이, 근원적 자아가 아니라 동일시의 산물이다. 이 사실을 분명히 인정한 후에, 본인 자신으로부터 거리를 둘 수 있게 되었고 어느 정도 자유를 누릴 수 있게 되었다. 이를 실크스크린 기법과 사진, 이미지 복사, 레터링(lettering)이라는 복제방법을 통해 몰개성화, 상투화 되어가는 현대인의 삶의 모습에 대한 비판적 접근을 시도한다. 또한 비닐의 물질성으로 그러한 인간상에 대한 동시대인으로서 본인의 복합적인 견해를 극대화 시킨다. 끝으로 본 논문은 본인의 작업들에 대한 반성과 함께 앞으로의 전개방향을 모색하는 계기로 삼고자 한다. ; Every individual develops certain type of existent safety framework on the basis of a variety of formative convention. In the modern world of capitalism of commodity, these kinds of desire for individualistic freedom, self-definition, real life, or desire for perfection are exchanged for consuming desire, These are all self-destructive and lead to transient solace and consistent breakdown of desire. People tend to conceal by switching places alternatives of traditional position of God. Mass media plays its role of reinforcing these strategies. It uses uneasiness and fear caused by individual lack which is inevitable in continuance of dominance of market. This status quo can not be exceptional on the field of recent work of art in together with change of values. In period of mechanism of late industrial society, work of arts is social institution which manufactures, distribution, consumes and classifies. Whether to agree or disagree on multipolarized time period, destruction of boundaries which have been remained as taboos became common. In the method of expression, the use of mass medias such as photograph, computer, and video rather than traditional hand labor are more persuasive. My self represents in my work the threatened period of contemporary time. In making an attempt, first standardization of modern people which is the reality of late capitalist society will be discussed. Also expend this issue to the problem of identity in order to solve my modeling image on the basis of Jaques Lacan s psycho-analysis o post-structuralism. Therefore, what I have in mind of self-portrait I not fundamental self but production of identity as shown in Crowd and Father , Only after truly recognizing this fact, I could then put distance between myself and enjoy freedom. In using the method of silkscreen, copy, and lettering, critical approach is tried on modernman s pattern of living which is un-individualized and conventionalized. Also by using the materiality of vinyl, my complex opinion can be maximalized as a contemporary bering. Asa conclusion, this thesis will work as am well as searching of personal development destination.
