인체표현과 공간에 관한 연구

Abstract

현대의 회화는 다양한 주제 선택과 기법 활용의 시도를 통해 끊임없는 변화를 겪고 있다. 특히 인간을 주제로 하는 작업의 경우 더욱 그러한데, 인간의 정신세계를 비롯해 인체에 대한 관심. 그에 따른 신체의 변형, 해체....등의 표현이 그것을 말해준다고 할 수 있다. 이처럼 예술가들은 시대의 변천과 문화의 발전으로 변화되는 인간을 그 시대의 인간상으로 표현하고자 노력하며 작가의 주관적 관점에서 대상을 생각하고 파악하여 작가본인들의 내면세계를 대상을 통하여 자신만의 방법으로 표현하기 위해 끊임없이 노력하고 있다. 본인 역시 대상(인물)을 주관적 관점에서 파악하고 감정의 인식을 중요하게 생각했으며 사람들 마음의 상태, 욕구, 역할, 역할의 변화들, 현대성과 개성(자기만의 세계)을 찾으려 노력하였고 이것들을 어떤 방법으로 표현해야 하는지에 관하여 고민하고 여러 표현기법과 구성을 위해 많은 노력을 기울였다. 그러나 이러한 과정에서 인체에 대한 객관적 사실에 입각한 구체화된 사실표현이 선행되어야 함을 생각을 하게 되었다. 따라서 본인은 인체에 대한 해부학적 분석을 토대로 한 인체의 모습을 직접적으로 드러내는 작업을 해나갔다. 그리고 동시에 이러한 외형에 대한 사실표현으로 인해 자칫 소홀할 수 있는 정신적 내면세계의 표출을 공간을 활용한 표현방법으로 시도하였고 그 공간과 사실적 인체표현의 접목을 통하여 내면세계의 감정이입을 연구하고자 했다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 인체에 대한 표현을 내면세계를 중점으로 접근하였던 동양회화와 명암법과 해부학적 분석에 중점을 두고 접근하였던 서양회화의 비교분석을 통하여 서양회화와 달리 해부학적 인체표현에 많은 비중을 두지 않았던 동양화에서의 표현에 서양의 과학적 분석을 통한 접근을 시도해 인물화의 표현에 대한 설명을 하고자 했다. 즉 이것은 해부학적으로 분석된 인체를 음영법을 통해 표현해 나가는 것에 대한 설명으로 본 논문에 제시되었고 또한 작품에서의 공간에 대한 이론적 정리를 위해 동양화의 餘白에 대한 의미를 제시해 전체 화면에서 이 공간이 지닌 의미에 대해 진술하였다. 그리고 그 공간에 나타난 내면세계의 표출에 대한 정의를 위해서는 동양의 표현 정신과 유사함을 보이는 서양의 추상표현주의를 예로 들어 그 표현을 설명하고자 하였다. 그리고 이것에 따라 본인의 작품 속에서는 인체와 공간이 어떻게 표현되어 졌으며, 그것의 역할과 의미가 무엇인지를 살펴봄으로써 인물화의 사실적 표현을 위한 시도를 설명하고자 했다. 그리고 더 나아가 이러한 연구를 통해 앞으로의 보다 새로운 작업을 위한 기틀을 마련하고자 하였다.; Modern painting has undergone continuous changes with various experiments on the choice of theme and utilization of technique. In particular, when the theme is about humanbeing, this tendency gets strong representing artists great concern about human body and its transformation and deconstruction as well as man s mentality. Like this, artists have made incessant efforts to express the representative human images of each times since man changes by the changes and cultural developments of the times and to reflect their inner world on the object in their own way by thinking and hrasping the object from their subjective point of view. The author of this study too tried to understand the object (human figure) from her subjective viewpoint, regard human emotional perception as important, and find out people s mental states, desires, roles, role changes, modernity and personality [world to his (or her) own]. Also she endeavored to know how she could express such things and to use various expressional technique s and compositional elements. In this explorative process, however, she suddenly realized that concretized realistic expression based on the objective facts about human body must be preceded above all things. Therefore, on the basis of anatomical analysis of human body, the author kept on making works which would directly reveal human body. And at the same time, utilization of space for exposing the inner mental world of hers that would be overlooked while focusing on expressing outer appearance was attempted as an expressional method and inner empathy was also explored by grafting the space with realistic representation of human body. For this study, a comparative analysis of shading in the Eastern painting in which expressions of human body have been approached centering around the inner world of man and the major pictorial techniques in the Western painting which has given much weight on anatomical expressions of human body was conducted to scientifically approach to some Eastern paintings based on the anatomical analyses of the West and to explain unique expressions in the Eastern figure paintings. This was to explain expressing human body analyzed anatomically with Eastern shading, which is described in detail in this study. The meaning of the blank in the Eastern painting was also investigated as a theoretical background to build up the final significance of the blank space in the whole canvas. And to define the concept of exposure of man s inner world on such space, the abstract expressionism of the West that is similar to the expressional spirits of the East was taken as an example to explain inner expressional techniques. And base d on this definition, the author tried to explain her attempts to yield realistic representations of human figure by investigating in what way human body and space expressed themselves in her works and what role and meaning of each of them had in the end. And furthermore, the author tried to prepare a foundation for her future workings through this study.
