흔적에 의한 물 이미지 표현 연구

Abstract

우리가 일반적으로 생각하는 물은 직접적으로 접하면서 경험하는 것으로 흔하게 생각되는 존재일 것이다. 그러나, 그러한 물은 예로부터 사상가와 예술가의 많은 은유적 모델로서 생명력을 갖고 있는 존재로 인식되었고, 물이 가지는 모든 다양한 속성을 근거로 하여 물에 정신적 특성과 의미를 부여하여왔다. 논자는 그러한 일반적인 소재인 물을 통하여 시간과 인간의 삶을 생각하게 되었고 물이 갖고 있는 물성(物性)에 색채와 형태로서 주관적이고 감정적인 내적 가치를 부여하여 보는 이로 하여금 물에 대한 일반적인 시각의 변화를 인지하게 하고, 더불어 물이 갖고 있는 순환의 원리를 바탕으로 하여 인간의 삶에 결부시켜서 나타내고자 하였다. 물은 우리가 쉽게 접할 수 있는 만큼 사람마다 물에 대한 생각은 제각기 다를 것이며, 심지어는 물에 대한 인식마저도 잊고 있는 경우도 있을 것이다. 그러나, 우리는 물이 없이는 존재할 수 없을 것이며, 이는 곧 물이 모든 생명체의 근원이며, 필수 불가결한 존재라는 것을 알 수 있다. 물이 가지고 있는 개념에는 여러 가지가 있을 수 있겠지만 가장 대표적인 물질적, 정신적인 개념으로 물에 대한 통념을 좀 더 확장하여 이해하고자 하며, 물의 흐름에는 시간을 반영한다고 보고 그러한 시간의 흐름 속에서 순환하는 물의 개념도 함께 알아보았다. 규칙적으로 반복되는 시간 속에서 여러 형태를 나타내며 순환하는 물은 생성하고 소멸하면서 정화(淨化)의 의미로 창조되는 과정을 되풀이하고 있으며, 이러한 의미를 논자는 화면 안에서 물의 물성(物性)을 이용하는 방법과 단일한 색채를 통하여 정신적인 의미로 환원시키고자 하였다. 물의 물성을 이용함은 곧 표현 방법에 있어서 흔적의 기법을 나타내는 것이며, 단일한 색채를 통하여 나타내는 물의 생성의 원천과 내면 세계를 표현하는 방법들을 모색하여 보았다. 본 논문에서는 물에 대한 개념의 이론적 고찰과 역대 회화에서부터 표현되어 온 물 표현의 다양성을 함께 알아보고, 논자의 작품에서 나타난 물 표현의 방법적 연구를 하였으며, 이를 통하여 논자의 작품 세계를 더욱 심화하여 발전시키고자 하는데 그 의의가 있다.; Our general concept of water will be the one contacted and experienced directly. However, water has been cognized by a lot of philosophers and artists as a metaphorical model which has rich vitality, so they has given spiritual feature and meaning to water on the basis of various properties of water. The present writer thought time and the life of human being through the general matter, water, so endowed physical properties of water with subjective, emotional, and internal value by color & shape to make viewers recognize the change of viewpoint about water, besides, expressed the cycle principle of water related with the life of human being. Since we can contact water very easily, the notion about water could be diverse, even forget the recognition of water. Nevertheless, we can exist without water, so water is an origin of every creature, and an indispensable thing. Though the concepts of water can be several, the general idea of water was understood widely as the most representative concepts, material & spiritual concepts, while the concept of cycling water in time was studied in view of stream of water s reflecting time. Water which cycles in time repeated regularly with various forms has repeated courses of creation as catharsis through formation & extinction, so the present writer represented spiritual meaning using physical properties of water in canvas, and single color. To use physical properties of water was to express the technique of traces, and it was studied that the expressing ways about the formation of water and internal world. This thesis is for the theoretical consideration of the concepts of water, the diversity of water expression since ancient paintings, the methodology of water expression in the present writer s works to deepen and promote my world of art.
