창조 이미지를 통해 본 삶의 표현

Abstract

예술은 인간의 삶을 표현하는 하나의 방식으로, 인간의 삶의 모습은 사회에 따라 다르며 변화한다. 현대의 새로운 상황의 전개 속에서 현대 예술은 매우 다양하다. 특히 현대예술은 어떤 정해진 기준이 없기 때문에 예술작품을 창조하는 예술가들에게 새로운 자유를 주었다. 그러한 새로운 자유를 통해서 어떻게 작품을 만들어야 할지 고민하게 되었고, 본 논문에서는 그러한 현대예술의 의미를 정리하고, 삶의 모습을 발견하고 의미를 깨닫고자 하였다. 항상 인간은 삶의 의미를 깨달아가면서 성장되어진다. 본인은 일상 가운데 삶과 예술의 관계를 밀접히 연결시키고자 하였으며, 삶과 예술의 가치를 더욱 풍부하게 하고자 하는 순수한 요구로서 표현하고자 하였다. 우리가 어떤 글이나 시에서 자신이 생각하고 있던 것이나 혹은 자신의 모습을 발견할 때 공감하며 즐거워하듯이, 그림에서도 자신의 모습을 볼 때 더욱 즐거워하게 된다. 일기를 쓰는 것과 같이 화판 위에 그림을 그리는 것은 나의 고백이며 목소리인 것이다. 본인의 작품의 내용은 성경의 처음 부분으로, ‘천지창조’의 순서를 표현하며 의미를 파악하고자 하였다. ‘창조이미지’는 성경에서 주제를 찾아서 표현하고자 하는 본인의 의도이다. 현대예술에서 찾고자 하는 이상의 의미를 신을 인식하는 것에서부터 찾고자 하며 일상의 단편적인 사건들을 통해서 본인이 추구하고자 하는 이상을 향하여 더욱 다가가려는 의지를 표현이다. 본인은 종교와 삶, 예술의 관계 속에서 예술작품의 의미를 찾고 표현하고자 한다. 반복되는 삶과 시간의 흐름에 따라 체험 되어지는 단편적인 사건의 흔적들을 표현 하기 위해 먼저 일주일이라는 시간의 반복과 평범한 일상을 특별한 의미를 가진 시간을 의미 부여하고자 하였다. 표현 방법으로는 반복되는 삶과 시간의 흐름을 사각형태를 사용하여 반복 나열하였다. 사각형태는 현대인들에게 익숙하고 안정감을 주는 형태로 현대 사회의 일상이라는 의미를 나타내기에 적절한 형태라고 보았다. 사각형태가 익숙한 현대인의 한 사람으로서 사각형태의 종이에 일기를 쓴다거나 책을 읽어 나가듯이 화면을 가득 채우는 행위의 반복을 통해서 본인의 흔적을 남기고자 하였다. 본인의 작품은 삶을 읽어나가는 과정의 순간이라고 보고 많은 이야기를 하려고 하지만 절제되고 함축되어 있는 표현을 하고자 하였으며, 자신이외의 다른 사람들의 삶을 이해하고자 하는 표출의 장으로 회화 공간을 구성하고자 하였다. ; Art is one of the many tools that depicts lives of human beings which vary and alter depending on a type of society they live in. As today s society undergoes a series of changes, art has become diverse. And since there are no certain standards by which contemporary art are produced and judged, it has offered greater freedom to those who create art, artists. Given such freedom, artists of nowadays have a lot more to think about in terms of what to create. This thesis is written with the intention to perceive aspects and meanings of life, and to sum up the significance of contemporary art. Human beings come to a mental maturity by going through stages of questioning the meaning of life. I seek to build a close connecting link between life and art, through the eyes of everyday life. Moreover, I wish to use my art as a means to enhance the quality of life and art. As discovering ideas similar to those of oneself, or an image of oneself in a piece of writing or a poem arouses sympathy and even a joy, coming across such in paintings have a same effect. Act of painting serves as my mouthpiece and is my confession as if one unveils one s innermost thoughts in a diary. The content of my work deals with the very beginning segment of the Bible. The paintings are intended to express the process of the Creation, giving a new meaning to it. The term "the creation image" is invented with the intention to explore and express the theme from the Bible. It also demonstrates my will to find the meaning of an ideal which I strive to find in contemporary art from having a understanding of God, and to pursue my personal ideal through fragmentary events of everyday life. I wish to search for and express the meaning of a work of art within the relationship among a religion, life, and art. To depict traces of fragmentary events which change and are experienced through everyday life and the flow of time, the time of a week is redefined, not as 7 days of a simple, repetitive, but a special time. As a means of expression, rectangular shaped papers are arranged repeatedly and randomly, describing repetitive aspects of life and the flow of time. Rectangular formats are chosen, for it is the format that is familiar and gives a sense of stability to the constituents of today s society. Therefore, it is a suitable format for representing a daily life. Being a member of today s standardized society who frequently writes a rectangular shaped diary or read a rectangular shaped book, I try to leave traces of myself by using repetitive and random arrangements of shapes. Though it was tempting to tell as many stories as I could, I settled with minimized, implicative expressions. I tried to fill a pictorial space freely, using it as a medium to portray and understand others lives other than mine.
