호주 원주민 회화을 모티브로한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

인류의 역사를 통해 볼 때 이미 태고(太古) 때 발생하여 오늘에 이르기까지 수많은 변화를 거치면서 항상 새로운 미적(美的) 표현을 이루어 가고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이것은 인간이 윈초(原初)부터 어떤 시대나 어떤 지역을 막론하고 항상 표현의 충동(衝動) 을 갖고 있었음을 의미한다. 이러한 미적 본질(美的本質)과 표현의 세계는 19세기에 접어들어 과학의 발달로 인한 합리주의(合理主義)가 만연(蔓涎)하게 되고, 또한 전쟁이라는 역사의 소용돌이 속에서 인간은 삶의 허무함을 느끼게 되어 종래의 미(美)에 대한 가치관이 변형되는 결과를 낳기도 했다 따라서 새로운 조형예술은 이제까지의 자연주의적(自然主義的) 전통에 대한 거부반응으로 나타나 극도로 주관적인 성격(싻딘)을 강조하는 새로운 조형활동으로 전개되어 나감을 볼 수 있다. 이와 같은 상황 속에서 우리 현대인들은 정신적 만족과 윈시적 회귀심리가 작용하게 되었고 윈시미술이 외부 세계에 알려지게 되면서 시각과 장소를 초월한 디자인을 응용하고 제시함으로써 시각사고(視覺思考)의 혁명적(革命的)인 전환점이 되었으며 전통적인 개념에서 탈피하는데 좋은 자극제가 되었다. 정신적 풍요가치를 중시하고 다양화, 개성화의 욕구가 높아지면서 차별화된 삶과 창조적 예술 가치를 지닌 삶을 지향하게 되므로 의복에 있어서도 인식의 큰 변화를 가져 왔다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 조형예술의 한 분야인 의상을 통해 윈시적인 미의식과 호주윈주민 회화 속에서 무한한 독창성과 디자인 요소들을 현대복식을 통하여 다양한 표현욕구에 부응 할 수 있도록 새로운 의상 디자인의 영역개발 및 확대를 모색해보았다 특히 호주 윈주민 회화는 여러 가지 호주 윈주민 예술 중에서 문양과 색채의 조형성이 뛰어나며 이것을 의상에 적용시키기에 적합하여 더욱 연구 가치가 있다고 본다. 이론적 배경으로는 윈시미술의 발생동기와 정신적 기조를 바탕으로 발달하는 호주윈주민 회화에 대해 문헌을 통해 고찰하였다. 그 중에서도 호주대륙의 윈주민 지역 중 중부지역에 위치한 파푸냐(papunya) 지역의 현대작가 작품들을 모티브로 현대 의상에 응용하였다. 그리고 이것을 표현하는 실제작품의 다양한 소재들을 잉크 젯프린트, 컴퓨터니트 등의 기법을 활용하여 현대적인 감각과 트렌드를 바탕으로 재구성하였으며 색상은 윈주민들의 고유한 색상을 기본으로 하되 부분적인 부분을 재구성 하였다. 이러한 호주윈주민 회화의 이론적 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 윈시미술의 시대적 분류는 구석기, 신석기와 현재의 윈시미술로 나뉘어지며,구석기시대부터 현재의 윈시미술에 이르기까지 대부분이 주술적인 목적 으로 이루어졌으며, 문화사와 민족의 역사로 이루어진 문화의 일부분이고 상징성과 의미를 갖고 있다. 둘째, 호주윈주민 회화의 신념이자 가치체계인 꿈꾸는 것 (The Dreaming)은 호주 윈주민의 문화와 모든 예술의 근윈이다. 이 근윈을 바탕으로 암석회화, X 선도화, 나무껍질 그림, 지면 위의 그림 등 여러 가지 표현방법을 가지고 있다. 셋째, 호주윈주민 회화는 주로 북부와 중부지역의 윈주민들이 복잡한 사회구조나 종교 및 미술을 유지하고 있으며 특히 암햄랜드 지역과 파푸냐 지역에서는 수 천년의 역사를 지니고 있는 전통을 지키면서 현재 작업하고 있는 예술가들이 많다. 넷째, 호주 북부에 위치한 암햄랜드의 나무껍질 그림은 전통적인 윈주민 회화 중 가장 널리 행해지고 있는 형태이며, 중부에 위치한 파푸냐 지역의 지면 위의 그림 (papunya 미술)은 윈주민 회화에서 가장 유명한 그림이자 발명품이다. 파푸냐 예술가들은 고대의 전통에 뿌리를 가지고 있으면서 놀랄 만큼 현대적인 미술작품을 만들어 내고 있다. 또한 이러한 호주윈주민 회화의 특성을 현대의상 디자인에 도입하고 모티브로 응용한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현대의상은 주관적인 것을 표현하여 개성과 감각을 추구한다. 그리고 고 도로 산업화된 사회에 살고있는 현대인들의 과거를 동경하고 되찾으려는 욕구는 점차 강해지고 있다. 이러한 환경속에서 호주윈주민 회화의 다양한 표현방법과 모티브는 표현영역의 확대, 창조적인 의상 디자인 연구에 질적 향상을 도모할 수 있었다. 둘째, 호주윈주민 회화에 자주 등장하는 상징화된 문양들은 잉크젯 프린트, 컴퓨터 니트 등을 이용하여 현대 의상으로 표현하기에 적합하였다. 셋째, 호주윈주민 회화의 조형미는 간결한 실루엣과 현대적인 디자인으로 유도함으로써 실휴성과 예술성이 가미된 디자인이 가능하였다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 윈시미술 중에서 우리에게 아직은 낯설은 호주의 윈주민 회화를 선택함으로써 현대적 표현방법의 가능성을 모색하였다. 오늘날 호주윈주민 회화는 급속한 변화의 시대를 거치고 있다 이는 지나간 세월의 유물이 아니라 아직도 살아서 성장을 계속하고 있는 인간의 관심사로서 이를 통해서 윈주민들은 그들의 신화들을 기념하고 그들의 가치관을 표현하며 앞날을 내다보는 것이다. 특히 다문화주의의 경향속에서 호주 윈주민 회화는 새롭게 제시해 줄 모티브와 조형성을 충분히 가지고 있으며 우리는 이것을 현대적으로 활용함에 있어서 윈주민 미술의 올바른 인식과 체계적인 연구,분석으로 그들의 정신세계와 가치를 이해하고 윈시조형 예술이 가지고 있는 무한한 가능성의 충분한 활용이 이루어 졌으면 하는 바램이다.; It can be seen that new aesthetic expression is always being made through numerous changes up to today since it appeared in the beginning, in seeing through the history of mankind. This means that human beings always had the impulse of expression regardless of any period or any area from the beginning. This world of aestheic essence and expression brought about the result that the sense of value for Jormer beauty is transformed, as rationalism to be caused by the development of science came to prevail since the beginning of the 19th century and also human being came to feel the nihilism of life in the whirlpool of history which is war Thus, it can be seen that new plastic art appeared as the rejusal response against new tradition up to now and then it is unfolded as new plastic activity to emphasize extremely subjective character. In this situation, the mental satisjaction and primitive recurrence psychology oJ our moderns came to act. And, while primitive fine art became known to outside, applying and presenting the design to transcend sight and place became the revolutionary turnin point of visual thinking, and it became the good stimulant to break from traditional concept. Today, in the world of fashion also, as for the conversion of industry, the form of consumers was converted from the period of desire satisjaction to the satisjaction of sensibile desire of consumers. This means that the great change of recognition came to be brought about in clothing also, as consumers came to aim at the differentiated life and the life to have creative art value, while they took serious view of mental richness value and the desire of diversification and indiyidualization increased. Thus, in this study, this researcher tried to grope for the development and expansion of domain of new clothing design, so that infinite originality and design elements in primitive aesthetic sense and Australian aboriginal fine art may meet diverse expression desires through modern dress and its ornaments by the clothing to be one part of plastic art. Especially, Australian aborigin art is an only tradition to be highlighted most recently, but it has not been know yet inland. So, this researcher thinks that study value is great all the more. As for theoretical background, this researcher studied the appearance motive of primitive Jine art and the Australian aboriginal fine art to develop on the basis of mental keynote through literature. Out of it, this researcher made the works of moder artists at Papunya area located at the middle area of aboriginal area in Australian continent oJ motive and applied it to clothing. And, for real works to express this, this researcher reconstituted diverse materials on the basis of modern sense and trend by utilizing the techniques such as intject pnnt and computer knit etc. And, as for color tone, this researcher used the color tone peculiar to aborigines and the color presented to 03 S/S Trend Explanation Meeting(auspice:Samsung Fashion Research Institute) partially. To integrate this Jindings is as follows: First, this researcher could expand the domain of expression method oJ modern dress and its ornaments through the symbolical nature and simplification to be the expression methods of fine art of Australian aborigines. Second this researcher could know that simple silhouette, practical design, material to Junctionality, and sensitive sense are necessary for wearing in modem society which is not the reproduction of image as it is, in expressing the fine art of Australian aborigines in a modern style. Third, the continuity of culture and society of Australian aborigines is being transmitted through their world and generation like the word, dreaming the Jaith to reflect the mental world or value system of Australian aborigines. Therejore, this researcher could know that the clothing that moderns wear which can offer the turning point to be able to enjoy mental richness and visual thinking to the moderns to live in modern civilization is necessary all the more. Fourth, this researcher groped for the possibility of modern expression method by choosing the fine art of Australian aborigines which is unfamiliar to us yet out of primitive fine art, and this researcher thinks that it has the value as developmental element to be able to oer new idea and motive to modern clothing design.
