포스트모더니즘적 영상표현에 관한 연구 : 도시를 주제로 한 본인 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

1960년 미국과 프랑스에서 시작된 포스트모더니즘은 70년대와 80년대를 거치면서 세계적으로 널리 일반화되었다. 포스트모더니즘 이전에는 이성을 도구로 합리성과 효율성을 추구하는 모더니즘이 주된 흐름을 구성하고 있었으나 두 번에 걸친 세계대전을 통한 참혹한 살상의 경험 그리고 대중적인 지지를 받는 인사들의 암살이나 개발에 따른 환경의 무분별한 급속한 파고, 환경 파괴에 기인하는 구지적인 기아의 발생 등 개인적으로는 해결할 수 없는 혼돈과 혼란, 충격이 누적되면서 인류는 기존의 전통적인 가치를 부정하기 시작했으며 그러한 반동으로 탄생한 것이 포스트모더니즘이다. 포스트모더니즘의 역사적인 기원이나 그것의 정의에는 많은 이론과 의견이 있으나 중요한 것은 소위 포스트모더니즘 적인 현상이 알게 모르게 우리 사회에 나타나고 있으며 초기에는 다소 어색하고 생경한 느낌을 갖던 그런 현상들이 이제는 그리 큰 화제가 되지도 않으면서 자연스럽게 우리 사회의 한 문화 형태로 자리잡았다는 점이다. 따라서 포스트모더니즘을 이해하고 그것에 기인한 제반 사회현상을 살펴보는 것은 바로 21세기를 살아갈 우리 자신을 돌아보는 기회를 제공한다고 할 수 있다. 포스트모더니즘을 한두마디로 정의할 수 없지만 포스트모더니즘의 전반적인 특성은 기존의 모더니즘에 대한 반발로부터 찾아볼 수 있으며 탈 합리, 탈 형식, 탈 권위, 탈 논리 등 기존의 가치로부터 탈피하고자 하는, 현존의 질서와 가치를 부정하고 파괴하는 문화 형태로 나타난다. 원래 포스트모더니즘의 시작은 건축으로부터 시작되었으나 이제는 문학, 연극, 영화, 음악, 미술을 비롯한 특정 전문가 영역은 물론 대중의 일상 생활에 큰 영향을 미치는 텔레비전이나 비디오와 같은 영상 매체에서도 쉽게 찾아 볼 수 있다. 텔레비전이나 잡지와 같은 매스미디어에서의 포스트모더니티의 등장은 그런 매체의 선도적인 역할이 있었다기보다는 사회의 전반적인 현상에 대한 반영이라고 볼 수 있으며 그런 관점에서 보면 우리 사회의 포스트모더니티는 별도로 구분할 필요도 없이 생활 그 자체를 형성해가고 볼 수도 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 부지불식간에 우리 생활의 일부가 되어 버린 포스트모더니즘에 대해 탄생의 역사적 배경과 관련 학자들의 견해를 연구하고 기존의 모더니즘과의 차별성, 포스트모더니즘 자체의 특성을 다각도로 정의할 것이다. 또한 현실에 반영된 포스트모더니즘이라는 프리즘을 통해 우리 사회의 새로운 문화 형식을 이해하기 위해 대중이 가장 쉽게 접할 수 있는 TV 광고에 나타난 포스트모더니즘을 살펴보고 뮤직 비디오와 영향에 나타난 포스트모더니즘을 살펴볼 것이다. 작품 진행에 있어서는 20세기 후반 즉, 고도의 테크놀러지가 주도하는 현대의 포스트모더니티를 “도시”라는 주제를 중심으로 애니메이션 화하여 작품으로 구성하였다. 이 작품에서 주제로 삼은 “도시”는 “Technology City"라는 환경적인 파트와 그 환경을 인식하는 주체로서의 ”나“를 표현한 파트로 구성된다. 이 두 프로젝트를 통해 포스트모더니즘 사회와 포스트모더니티를 가진 인간을 압축적으로 표현하고자 했다. 이런 연구를 통해 우리의 시간과 공간을 재 의미함으로써 현재 우리가 역사의 어느 시점쯤에 와 있는가를 재인식할 수 있으며 특히 급변하는 시대 환경 속에 흔히 나타나는 식구 계층간의 심각한 갈등과 몰이해의 봉합 점을 찾을 수 있다고 사료된다. ; The postmodernism has been begun in US and France from 1960 and generalized worldwide through the 70 s and the 80 s. Before the postmodern- ism, the modernism was the main stream that pursues rationality and efficiency with reason. But personally insuperable chaos, confusion and collision - the experience of the miserable killing and wounding during the two times of World War, the assassination of the leading people who were supported by the public, the rapid destruction of the environment, the local starvation caused by the environmental destruction - have been accumulated, human beings has come to deny the traditional merit. The postmodernism is the counteraction against of those. There are lots of theories and opinions of the definition of the postmodernism and its historical origin, but the importance is the fact that the postmodern phenomena are happened to our society and considered a sort of cultural form at present that were regarded odd or strange at first. So to understand postmodernism and to study the general social phenomena owing to the postmodernism could give us chance of looking-back ourselves who live the 21th century. It is difficult to define the postmodernism in one or two words, but its general characteristic can be found as the counteraction against the modernism and tends to be appear as the cultural form pursues irrational, informal, non-authorable and illogical The origin of the postmodernism was the architecture, yet now can be found easily on TV or video that influence the life of the general public as well as the special fields like literature, act, movie, music and art. The appearance of the postmodernity on TV or magazines are the reflection against the general social phenomena rather than their leading role. On this point of view, postmodernism is said to be building up the life itself so it doesn t need to be classified. So this paper, with the postmodernism that has been part of our life unconsciously, is going to show its historical background and the opinions of the associated scholars and define its characters multilaterally. This paper is also going to handle the postmodernism appears on TV advertisings that the public accesses easily and the postmodernism on music vedios and movies. And the processing of the work shows the present postmodernity by the animation with the subject of ‘City’. The ‘City’ of this work is consist of the two part. -‘Technology City’ is the environmental part and ＂I＂ the chief object who recognize the environment - With this two project,the paper intends to describe the postmodern society and the human who possesses the postmodernity. With this study, we could re-recognize where we are in history now through the remeaning of the time and the space. Especially, it also can seek the coordination between the new generation and the old that oftenly appears during the rapidly changing era.
