변화를 수반하는 다목적 복식디자인 연구

Abstract

복식은 과거와 같이 단순한 하나의 장식적 목적, 기능적 목적에만 존속되지 않는다. 복식의 목적과 동기는 어느 한 면이 부각되거나 강조될 수도 있지만 현대의 복잡화된 사회구조와 생활패턴, 현대인의 빠른 기호감성의 변화로 인해 복합성을 띠게 되었다. 또한 현대디자인의 새로움과 다양성 그리고 기능성에 대한 추구는 현대복식디자인의 한 경향으로서 다목적 복식의 성립을 가져왔다. 다목적 복식은 착용자의 선택에 의해 다양한 시각적 연출이 가능하므로 인간의 심리적·미적 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있을 뿐 아니라 한 벌의 복식으로 다기능적 효과를 얻을 수 있어 실용적 측면에서 관심이 증대되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 다목적 복식은 구조적 접근과 기술적 측면의 어려움으로 인해 국외에 비해 국내에서의 시도는 미진하며 그 사례가 제한적이다. 다목적 복식디자인은 그 방법적 과정에 있어서 복식의 구조와 기능에 관한 연구가 필수적이므로 이에 의해 도출되는 새로운 형태적 요소는 디자인에 있어서 부가가치 창출의 근거가 된다. 따라서 디자인 경쟁력의 향상이라는 측면에서도 실체적 성과가 제시될 수 있는 체계적인 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 다목적성을 추구한 복식디자인을 통하여 복식의 시각적·기능적 다양화를 모색하는 동시에 인체, 의상, 소품의 구조적·기능적 연구를 통하여 현대인의 다양한 감성적·기능적 요구에 부응하고, 디자인에 부가가치를 부여할 수 있는 방법적 모형을 제시함에 목적이 있다. 나아가 복식에 있어서 합목적적 디자인 개발과 표현영역을 확대하고자 한다. 본 연구의 내용과 방법은 이론적 연구로서 문헌을 통해 다목적 복식의 개념과 출현배경, 표현경향, 특성과 의의를 살펴보았으며, 현대패션에 나타난 다목적 복식디자인의 사례를 표집, 분석하여 다목적성의 적용방식과 표현방법적 측면에서 각각 유형분류하여 사례제시와 함께 특징적 면모를 살펴보았다. 상기의 연구를 토대로, 변화를 수반하는 다목적성의 적용방식에 의한 유형별로 디자인을 해 총 8점의 작품을 제작하였고 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다목적 복식은 한 벌로 여러 벌의 시각적 효과가 발생하고, 다양한 조형적 연출이 가능하므로 현대인의 새로움에 대한 감성적 욕구에 부응할 수 있는 측면이 있고, 유희성을 지니므로 수요가 증대될 수 있는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 복식의 다목적성은 인체구조와 치수, 의상/소품의 형태와 기능, 효율적 구성법과 패턴에 관한 연구를 통해 창출될 수 있으며, 이에 의한 디자인 방식은 디자인에 부가가치를 부여할 수 있는 바람직하고 효과적인 방법적 모형이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 셋째, 다목적 복식은 지퍼, 끈, 단추 등의 패스너를 통해 조작에 용이성을 부여할 수 있으며, 각 패스너의 종류에 따라서도 다양한 표현이 가능하였다. 넷째, 다목적 복식은 디테일, 색채, 길이의 변화 등 간단한 조작(개폐, 착용위치의 변경, 디테일의 착탈, 주름잡기, put in & out)을 통해 동일한 아이템 내의 다양한 변화가 가능할 뿐 아니라, 의복 내에서 또는 의복과 소품 간의 아이템 전환이 가능하였다. 다섯째, 폴리코팅 소재는 1.방추성 2.리버시블 3.내구성과 탄성 4.캐주얼한 표면 재질적 특성에 의해 실용적인 다목적 복식디자인의 소재로 적합하였다. 본 연구에서는 리버시블, 레이어드, 디테일의 착탈 등 기존의 단순한 방식에서 벗어나 보다 다양하게 접근하여, 각 유형별로 적절한 표현 방식을 적용해 새로운 다목적 복식디자인을 연구 제시하였다. 앞으로 후속 연구로서 디자인의 구조적, 기능적, 장식적 측면이 완벽하게 조화된 합목적적인 다목적 복식에 관련한 디자인 연구가 체계성 있게 확대 전개되길 기대한다.; These modern times have seen changes in dress and ornament overstepping the boundaries of the past and moving away from simply having one sole functional purpose or one sole decorative purpose. Perhaps it is easy to emboss a single motive and purpose in a particular style of dress however this is changing together with the transformation of our environment and society. The contemporary social structure, life styles and the swift changes in preferences all contribute to today s development in multipurpose dress. Furthermore, the innovations, developments in function and versatility in contemporary design, have also encouraged the development of multipurpose dress in fashion. To some extend, it is possible to state that peoples tastes are shifting towards this new concept of multipurpose dress because it is more practical and economical. One multipurpose dress can portray many different styles depending on how it is worn. At the same time, it shows ones psychological and aesthetical preferences giving character to the person wearing it. However, here in Korea, multipurpose dress is less popular in comparison to the international market. This is because technically and structurally it is difficult to make. There are many limitations in its production because research on structure and function is essential. Consequently, this study endeavors to contribute to the development of multipurpose design in general so that a systematic research can be conducted to gain more interest in the domestic market. This study aims to fulfill the modern preferences in fashion trend by analyzing the contemporary development in fashion design. It observes the diversity in visual and functional effects along with the modern changes in the human body, dress and ornament. The study hopes to contribute to the development of multipurpose trend in contemporary design. Furthermore, it hopes to debate about necessary developments in fashion and also hopes to open new expressions in dress. For the background research work, the study has examined the concept of multipurpose dress, its history and trends. It has also included the different role models in this particular genre. Analysis was made on the existing multipurpose dress designs and they have been compared to examine their special traits. The study also enabled the design of 8 works. The transformation in multipurpose dress has been used as the main subject for these works. Through this study the following result has been attained : 1) Today, people are constantly striving for something new. They continue consuming goods not out of necessity but out of boredom. Therefore the multipurpose dress fulfills such desires. It also gives the person wearing it amusement because it includes the concept of play. Several different visual effects can be created with one piece of dress. Therefore with effective planning, it is possible to attract consumer interest in the domestic market. 2) The human body, size, form and function, details for multipurpose dress have all contributed in creating new structure and patterns in design. Therefore this is an asset to the development of contemporary design. 3) The function of fasteners, such as zippers, buttons, strings and so on, in multipurpose dress, has proven to be very important. Many different effects can be created with these accessories. 4) Color, length and details all enabled changes in one single dress depending on the fabrication (opening and closing, change of wearing position, details to tie tightly or loosely, shirring, putting in and out and so on) within the dress itself many transformations are possible with the use of different small item. 5) The use of poly-coating fabric was most appropriate for this study because this type of fabric 1. prevents crises 2. is reversible 3. is durable and elastic 4. has a casual surface effect , which is very practical. The study has endeavored to move away from the existing methods in multipurpose dress such as using reversible fabrication, layering, details to tie tightly or loosely and so on. It strives to find new initiatives in this genre to contribute to the development of contemporary design. The study hopes that a more systemized research will be conducted to improve the function, structure and decoration of multipurpose dress in the future.
