이집트 예술양식을 응용한 직물디자인 연구 : 능직을 이용한 기하학적 선의 형태를 중심으로

Abstract

직물디자인은 섬유산업의 상품생산과 판매에 관련되어 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 모든 디자인 상품의 부가가치를 실현하려면 제품 디자인의 향상도 중요하지만 이에 사용되는 섬유서재를 비롯한 직물디자인인 제품의 질적 향상이 선행되지 않으면 안된다. 특히 갈수록 감성의 고도화가 강조되는 추세이기 때문에 감성표현의 독창적인 디자인 개발이 요구되고 있다. 이집트의 예술을 생각할 때 우선 나일강과 광대한 사막, 그 위를 비추는 영원한 듯한 태양에서 자연히 우러나올 수밖에 없는 영혼불멸의 종교 관념이 함께 연상되며, 그들의 관습과 신비한 분위기는 고대 이집트 문화를 연구하는 사람들에게 매력을 준다. 지형, 종교, 사회관습 및 가정생활과 오락 그리고 이집트 주위의 민족들 등의 여러 요소들이 혼합되고 밀접하게 통합되어 이런 독특한 분위기를 만들었으며 이는 현대인에게 미적인 영감을 준다. 본 연구는 이 점에 착안하여 이질적인 것 같으면서도 독창적인 조형미를 이루어 응용적 가치가 놓은 이집트 예술양식의 특징을 분석하여, 현대직물에 접목함으로써 새로운 디자인을 시도해 보고자 했다. 이를 위하여 이집트 시대의 문화와 예술의 전반적이 배경에 대해 고찰하고 이집트 예술의 기저에 흐르는 미의식을 이해하고자 한다. 그대 이집트인들의 건축, 회화, 의상, 직물, 장신구 등에서 나타나는 기하학적인 규칙성과 태양의 광선을 형상화한 직선적인 담각, 평면적이고 단순하면서도 균형과 강조의 미를 잃지 않는 이집트의 예술양식의 특징들은 현대직물에 응용될 수 있는 독창적인 요소를 무한히 내포하고 있다. 작품을 제작한 배경으로는 앞에서 분석 연구한 이집트 예술의 미의식과 디자인 요소에서 나타나는 특징을 세 가지로 분류하여 제작하였다. 첫 번째, 이집트 예술의 모든 선과 배열에 있어서 직선과 직각의 기하학적 감각을 기초로 하여 선의 반복, 배열의 변화를 통하여 직선의 시각적인 효과를 연구하였다. 두 번째, 이집트의 대표적인 유물인 피라미드와 의상의 형태 등에서 사선의 기하학적 형태를 분석하여 지그재그의 연속된 사선의 반복, 사선의 방향변화 등을 통해서 다양한 현대 직물디자인의 효과를 연구하였다. 세 번째, 깃털의 문양인 임브리퀀트(Imbriquent) 문양에서 보여지는 곡선의 기하학적 형태를 기초로 하여 여러 가지 곡선의 변형을 직조패턴으로 연구하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과 이집트의 예술 양식은 독특하면서도 다양성을 지니고 있어 디자인 연구에 있어서 응용되어질 수 있는 분야가 넓으리라 본다. 본 연구에서 이집트 예술 양식에 의한 직물디자인을 다음과 같이 연구하였다. 첫 번째, 이집트 예술의 대표적인 기하학적인 감각은 간결하고, 단순화된 형태의 직성, 사선, 곡선이지만 선의 형태와 배열, 방향의 변화를 통하여 강렬함과 강조의 미를 느낄 수 있다. 두 번째, 수직선과 수평선의 반복된 직선변화, 지그재그의 연속된 사선변화, 임브리퀀트 문양의 곡선변화는 능직(Twill Weaves)의 변화직으로 다양하게 표현되어지며, 공간적 입체감을 형성하여 시각적인 표현효과를 확대시킨다. 세 번째, 색상에 있어서 단순한 흰색에서부터, 원색의 화려함까지 다양하게 표현되고 있으며, 균형과 조화의 미를 이루고 있다. 본 연구를 통하여 이집트의 예술양식의 특징이 직물디자인에 있어서 다양한 표현효과를 거둘 수 있도록 응용, 연구되어지기를 바란다. ; Textile design has an important position in fiber industry related to product manufacturing and selling. To realize the added value of each design product, improving product design is important but improving quality of textile design should precede first. Especially, considering the trend of high sensitivity, unique design development of sensitivity expression is needed. When we think of Egyptian art, we are remained of the Nile, vast desert and eternal religious mind derived from the Sun over the desert and their custom and mysterious mood attracts a lot of people who studies ancient Egypt culture. This unique atmosphere is made combined with various elements such as topography, religion, social customs, home life, entertainment and nations around Egypt and gives aesthetic inspiration to modern men. This study has a purpose to try a new design by analyzing Egyptian art and its characteristics which have unique modeling beauty and applicable value and applying them to modern textile. For this purpose, this study examine the overall background of Egyptian art and culture to understand aesthetic thoughts based on it. Egyptian art and its characteristics including geometrical regulating in Egyptian architecture, painting, clothing, textile and accessories, straight-lined sense imaging the sun rays and plane and simple but balanced beauty of emphasis, involve unique factors. As a background of producing a work, the Egyptian aesthetic thoughts analyzed above and characteristics in design components are divided into four an made into a production. First, based on geometrical sense of a straight line and a right angle in every arrangement and line in Egyptian art, the visual effect line through the repetition and arrangements changes is studied. Second, various modern textile design effect is studied through the repetition of biased line and the direction change of a biased line, and the geometrical from of a biased line in Pyramid and clothing from-Egyptian representative heritage is also analyzed. Third, based on the geometrical from of curved lines in Imbriquent pattern, the transformation of various curved lines are studied with weaving pattern. As a result of this study, Egyptian art mode is unique and diversified and expected to be variously applied to design study. Frist, geometrical sense in Egyptian art is simple straight line, biased line and curved line, but its line from, arrangement and direction change makes us feel the beauty of intensity and emphasis. Second, the repeated change of vertical and horizontal lines, consecutive change of zigzag lines, and curved line change of Imbriquent pattern are variously expressed into twill weaves, and their expand visual expression effect forming space cubic sense. Third, colors are variously expressed from white to primary colors, and they make the beauty of balance and harmony. I hope this study will be a good opportunity to bring Egyptian art and its characteristics into textile design for various expression effect.
