패러독스 개념에 의한 텍스타일 디자인 연구 : 여성의류용 직물디자인 중심으로

Abstract

20세기 이후 이성과 합리성을 중요시하였던 서구는 자연과학에서의 위대한 발명과 더불어 급속한 산업화를 이룩하였으며 이러한 변화는 인간 생활에 있어 기능성, 실용성, 단순성을 추구하게 되었다. 인구 증가와 격동적인 도시의 발전 및 사회, 문화적 변화는 여성의 사회참여 증대 또는 인간의 가치체계와 행동 구조 등에 큰 변혁을 일으켰다. 한편 소득의 증가는 기계적 산업생산에 의한 대량생산을 가능하게 하였고 기업간의 경쟁은 상품 생산에서 ‘디자인’의 중요성과 새로운 의미를 가지게 되었다. 섬유 디자인에 있어서도 20세기 초반에는 과학 및 산업발달에 의존한 직물의 실용성, 기능성을 추구하였지만 20세기 후기에 와서는 세계화, 다변화에 따른 좋은 디자인에 의한 직물의 고부가가치 추구가 보다 중요한 위치로 대두되었던 것이다. 그러나 아직도 한국의 섬유업계는 OEM 방식 위주로 대량생산 체제를 벗어나지 못하고 있으며 선진국의 디자인 모방에서 탈피하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 앞으로는 기존의 단순한 생산방식을 탈피하여 유행트랜드에 의한 합리적인 기획력이 수반된 독특하고 차별화된 소재 개발이라는 새로운 가치 체계를 구축해야 할 시점이라 하겠다. 더욱이 사라진 국경, 기존의 가치체계, 기득권의 붕괴속에 새로운 천년을 맞이하여 새로운 패러다임이 요구되고 있는 21세기를 위한 글로벌리제이션의 가치를 새로이 정립해야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 먼저 2000～2001 S/S 직물을 기획하기 위해 현재 세기말과 새 천년 사이에 나타나는 사회 가치관의 변화에서 현 시대에 사회 전반적인 현상으로서 대립과 공존이라는 패러독스 현상을 새로운 디자인 개념으로 설정하였다. 본 논문의 이론적 고찰에서 첫째, 사회적 배경으로서 선과 악, 이중정체성, 소비의 양극화, 세기말에 대한 낙관론 & 종말론, 전환기적 개념으로서의 휴머니즘에 대한 패러독스를 분석하였고 둘째, 문화적 배경으로서는 포스트모던 & 이성주의, 대중문화에 있어서 기성세대 & 신세대의 패러독스를 설정하여 분석하였다. 셋째, 섬유패션 배경으로서는 실제 보이는 M.D & 보이지 않는 M.D란 대표적 키워드로 대립과 공존의 패션트랜드로서 패러독스 현상을 제시하였다. 이러한 패러독스 개념을 분석하기 위해 신문, 잡지, 인터넷 등에서 발견되는 시사적 자료와 패션 정보에서 나타나는 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 이러한 자료를 바탕으로 직물을 기획, 실험, 제작하였다. 이러한 패러독스 개념을 통해 텍스타일 디자인을 기획, 개발하는데 있어서 크게 PLAIN & STRUCTURE 및 SOFT RETRO & FUTURE의 대립된 개념을 설정하였다. 아울러 패러독스의 개념을 사회·문화적 현상을 토대로 한 변화되는 라이프스타일에 따른 효율적이고 중요한 텍스타일 디자인 과정으로서 이미지에 부합되기 위해 텍스타일 코디네이션을 제안하였다. ; Since the beginning of the 20th C., various social and cultural events have accelerated modern life style. Great inventions in natural science have increased women s participation in society, population, and dynamic developments of cities, and naturally man s values and behavioral structure have undergone great changes too on the basis of those modern environments. These changes have made people respect reason and rationality and pursue simplicity, functionality, and practicality more and more. Therefore, facing an age of borderless competition, the potentiality of producing high value added holds a more important place in the present fiber design which explores multilateral approaches. Korean fiber industry has not cast off mass production systems centered on OEM and imitation of designs yet, so it should break from the existing production systems and build up a new value system to develop unique and differentiated materials. Now, confronting a new millenium with demands for new paradigms, disappeared borders, collapses of the conventional values and vested rights, it is time for us to correctly establish new values for the 21st century and globalization. To grasp these changes and streams of social value, the author of this study has set up the paradox phenomenon, a prevalent social phenomenon in this age of confrontation and coexistence, as a new design concept. To understand paradox, a social and cultural stream, theoretical investigation has been done mainly around topical data and based on this desirable directions for present industrial textile design have been presented through planning and making experimental textiles. In addition to this, the author has defined the concept of paradox through various channels to examine paradox phenomena more deeply. In this context, the author has also defined concepts of PLAIN, STRUCTURE, SOFT RETRO, and FUTURE within the broad area of textile design development, has tried to represent paradox phenomena effectively in some images, and has emphasized on sophisticated and technological developments of material through earnest working to create both functional and new effects. The importance of textile design as a new coordination will become more invaluable in making propositions about changing life styles in the future fiber industry of the 21st century.
