Rug 직물디자인 연구 : 한국의 기와 이미지 표현

Abstract

섬유라는 재료는 인류문명의 발달과 더불어 발전되어, 인간생활에 가장 밀착된 요소 중의 하나였다. 오늘날의 섬유재료는 생활필수품과 미적조형언어로써 현대 주거공간에서 실용적인 기능과 예술적인 역할을 다하고 있다. 섬유예술은 산업혁명으로 인한 대량생산으로 수많은 사람들로 하여금 다양한 상품을 저렴한 가격으로 구입할 수 있도록 해주었지만 그 대가로 우리는 똑같은 종류의 상품으로 가득찬 세상에 살고 있다. 이런 생활공간에 대한 인식의 변화로 인해 개성 있는 가정을 꾸미려는 노력이 일반화되면서 직물을 이용하여 실내공간을 연출할 수 있는 범위가 넓어지게 되었다. 따라서 현대주거공간에서 인테리어 장식재로서 Rug에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 섬유디자이너들의 새로운 분야로 개척되어지고 있다. 하지만 우리 나라의 Rug산업은 내수품이 저조한 상태이고 대부분 수입에 의존하고 있다. 이에 본 논에서는 한국적인 미의식과 조형성을 바탕으로 한 섬유디자인의 개발을 위하여 전통소재인 기와 이미지를 재구성하여 Rug직물 디자인에 도입함으로서 현대적인 감각의 한국적인 새로운 Rug 디자인의 개발 가능성을 모색하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위한 이론적 배경으로 문헌을 통해 Rug의 변천과정을 18C를 기준으로 전통Rug와 현대Rug로 구분하여 재조명해보고 아울러 Rug의 특성과 소재를 다루어 봄으로써 인테리어 장식 재로서의 효과를 증대시키고자 하였다. 또한 한국기와의 기원과 여러 가지 기와의 종류를 알아보고 한국기와의 변천을 시대적으로 분류하였으며 기와지붕이 갖는 형태에서의 아름다움을 형상화하여 한국 기와 이미지를 표현하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 한국의 자연의 미를 기와의 형태를 통해 창조적으로 재구성하여 현대 감각에 맞는 한국 이미지의 수직 Rug를 제작하였다. 소재는 주로 천연재료인 면사, 모사, 실크사와 마사를 이용하였으며 기와의 중첩된 이미지 표현을 위해 Monk s belt 기법에 의한 변형기법의 사용으로 조직의 짜임새와 조형적인 효과를 표현하고자 하였으며 색채는 음양오행적 우주관에 근거한 우리민족의 문화 속에 반영된 오색(五色)을 주된 색채로 사용하여 표현하였다. ; Being one of the first forms of art, textile, has been developed and so related to the human existence. Modern textile art plays a funtional role by providing necessary garment, but it also brings an artistic element to our lives by acting as a beautiful structural languege. In this industrial age, textile art allows poeple to buy various products at low prices because they are mass produced. The consequence of this convinience, however, is a norrow range of choices. As effort to put originality in interior decorating become common, people can expand the range of uses for interior decoration. This has prompted modern textile designers to pioneer new fields of products with many designers taking an increasing interest in rugs. The Korean rug industry, however, has not done well and depended on imports. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to explain the probability of creatin new rugs design by applying the beautiful artwork on Korean roof tiles to rugs and textiles. The theoretical background of this thesis is to re-illustrate the evolution of rugs by analyzing documents distinguishing between modern rugs and traditional rugs of the 18th century. In addition, the author of this paper will suggest the orign of many kinds of Korean roof tiles, classify and chronicle the changing trends, and create rugs which embody the beauty and image of Korean roof tiles. The author will produce vertical rugs that blend traditional Korean images with modern images, restructuring the Korean image of nature through the features of roof tiles. The author intends to demonstrate a structural effect by using the changing- method of the Monk s belt to show the folded image of roof tiles. The author also uses cotton, wool, silk, and yarn and 5 colors reflected in Korean culture from the Yin-Yang (the cosmic dual forces) view of the universe and Five Element (metal, wood, water, fire, earth).
