식물이미지를 통한 도자주전자의 조형연구

Abstract

예술가들이 창조하는 표현의 소재는 자연과 일상생활 속에서 쉽게 볼 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 일상적 경험의 사물들은 예술가의 심미적 가치에 의한 이미지 안에서 다시 만들어지고 변형되어져 새로운 미적 가치를 지닌 형상으로 태어나게 된다. 인간이 숨쉬고 살아가는 자연은 다양하고 넘치는 생명력으로 많은 예술가들의 영감의 원천이 되어왔다. 특히 일상생활에서 흔히 접할 수 있는 식물은 외부로 보이는 정적인 특성과는 다르게 수많은 종류와 형상들로, 어떠한 환경에든 걸맞게 자리잡는 끈질김으로 그 생명력을 과시한다. 이와는 대조적으로 일상생활에서 필요에 의해 제작되어진 주전자는 다소 엄격한 기능적 형태감각을 갖고 있으나 오늘날에 와서는 다양한 소재와 장식적 요소의 확대, 그리고 기능을 무시한 변형으로 최소한의 구조적 특성만을 갖춘 새로운 표현대상이 되고 있다. 주구, 동체, 뚜껑, 손잡이가 유기적으로 구성된 주전자의 구조적 특성 안에서 식물의 싹이 돋고 잎이 나고 꽃이 피고 열매를 맺기까지의 성장하는 이미지와 강한 생명력을, 기능이 배제된 도자조형물로 표현하고 조형성을 연구하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 열악한 환경에서도 적응하는 식물의 강인한 생명력과, 식물의 형태에서 느낄 수 있는 선과 면의 시각적 감각에 의미를 부여해서 나타나는 결과로서의 이미지에 대해 문헌을 통해 고찰해 보고 작가들에 의해 표현된 조형적 특성도 살펴본다. 또한 주전자의 개념 및 유래를 통하여 주전자가 어떻게 변천해왔는지 돌아보고 작품들을 통하여 조형적 변천과정과 다양한 조형성에 대해서도 알아본다. 이러한 이론적 배경에 기반을 두고 식물의 새싹, 줄기, 나뭇가지, 꽃, 잎, 열매 등을 관찰하여 유기적 곡선과 운동감과 질감, 식물의 열매에서 느낄 수 있는 양감과, 면적의 대비, 질감의 대비, 부분적인 강조를 통해 생성, 성장하는 이미지를 주전자가 갖고있는 형태적 특성에 부합시켜 표현한다. 태토는 유약의 효과를 고려하여 백토와 석기질점토를 혼합하거나 성형의 용이함을 위해 석기질점토를 사용하였다. 제작 방법으로는 자유로운 형태와 풍부한 양감을 나타내기 위해 코일링 기법을 주로 사용하였으며, 형태의 특징에 따라 물레 성형이나 판 성형, 모델링 기법을 사용 하였다. 1차 소성은 1.5m³가스가마에서 6시간동안 최고온도 850℃를 마침온도로 하였고 2차 소성은 1.5m³가스가마에서 10시간동안 최고온도 1,250℃를 마침온도로 산화소성 하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통해 식물의 유기적 형태를 예술적 오브제로서의 주전자 형태와 접목시켜 다양한 식물이미지를 도자조형으로 표현할 수 있었고, 식물의 형태를 주전자의 뚜껑, 손잡이, 주구, 동체의 구성에 도입하여 주전자의 각 요소간의 균형과 조화를 주관적 감성을 통한 조형물로 표현할 수 있었으며, 점토를 이용한 다양한 제작 과정을 통해 식물의 자연스러운 형태와 거기서 오는 이미지와 조형성을 효과적으로 나타낼 수 있었다. 이러한 결론을 바탕으로 식물뿐 아니라 자연의 다양한 생명의 이미지를 감성의 눈으로 감지하고 새로운 조형성을 부여함으로 더욱 창조적인 창작 활동의 영역을 넓혀가길 바란다. ; The forms that created by artists have been seen easily in every day life. However this object will be recreated and transformed by artist s aesthetic point of view to be a another object which have a new eye for the beautiful. Nature is close to men s everyday life. Also Nature has become an inspiration burst upon the artist with variety and overflowing liveliness. Specially among the Nature plants seem to be Very passive, but under the environment condition plants show us it s strong and sticky power at anytime. In comparison with plants, a Teapot made for people s need just had strict functional shape sense, now It has become new artistic presentation which made by variety matter. That s why these days a teapot has so many magnifying decorations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to make a ceramic shape of plant s strong liveness and growing image in teapot s charactor with spout, body, lid, handle and except function For this study, I have consideration of strong liveness of plants and image of growing like buds, leaves, flowers and fruits by literature. In other to do this I have researched on the works of other artists working with a similar theme. I have also studied a Teapot how to successed from old days to now by researching a concept and an origin teapot. To express birth and growing image of plants in shape of teapot, I have used curved liner inspired plants, movement and voluminous felt by plant s seed. I have mixed white clay and stony clay for good effect of glaze. Also I have used white clay for work s easiness. Most of the work was made using the coiling method for free style and rich volume. Also I have applied the modelling method and a spinning wheel modelling according to form s shape. The first firing was done in a 1.5㎥gas kiln at maximum temperature of 850℃ for 8 hours The second firing was also done in the same kiln for 10 hours at a maximum temperature of 1,250℃. All the work has been oxidized. Through this study, I make to express various plant s image by introduce plant s image link to shape of teapot which is subjective object. I have attempted to express image of plant s strong power and various shape in teapot with spout, body, lid, and handle, And make shapes through subjective sensitivity by balance and harmony of teapot s elements. And make use of clay, I can express natural plants shape and image effectively By doing this, I have realized that it s very important to notice various image of Nature by sensitive eyes and to attempt new modelling method. Also I hope I can be able to develop the ways of creative activity by doing this study.
