부부갈등 및 부모에 대한 애착과 청소년의 또래관계간의 관계

Abstract

본 연구는 부부갈등 및 부모에 대한 애착이 청소년의 또래관계와 어떠한 관계가 있는지와 부부갈등이 부모에 대한 애착과 어떠한 관련이 있는지를 살펴보고, 나아가 부부갈등과 청소년의 또래관계에서 부모에 대한 애착이 매개적 역할을 하는지를 탐색해 보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 D시에 위치한 2개 중학교 2학년에 재학중인 284명의 남녀 학생들(남: 138명)이다. 부부갈등은 Grych와 동료들(1992)의 부-모간 갈등에 대한 아동의 지각 척도(The Children s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale, CPIC)를, 그리고 부모에 대한 애착과 또래에 대한 애착은 Armsden과 그의 동료들(1991)의 부모 및 또래에 대한 애착척도 개정본(Revised Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, IPPA-R)을 번안하여 사용하였다. 우정관계의 질은 이은해와 고윤주(1999)의 척도를 청소년용으로 수정한 정선혜(2000)의 척도를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부부갈등은 친구에 대한 긍정적 감정 및 친구의 기능과 부적으로 유의하게 관련되어, 부부갈등이 높을수록 친구에 대한 긍정적 감정은 낮아지고, 친구의 기능을 부정적으로 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에, 부부갈등은 친구에 대한 부정적 감정과는 정적으로 유의한 상관관계를 나타내어, 부부갈등이 높을수록 친구에 대한 부정적 감정도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 부부갈등과 또래에 대한 애착은 부적으로 유의한 상관을 보여, 부부갈등이 높을수록 또래에 대한 애착이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 아버지에 대한 애착과 어머니에 대한 애착은 친구에 대한 긍정적 감정 및 친구의 기능과 정적으로 유의한 관계를 나타내었다. 반면에, 친구에 대한 부정적인 감정에 대해서는 어머니에 대한 애착만이 부적으로 유의한 관계가 있었고, 아버지에 대한 애착은 유의한 관련을 보이지 않았다. 즉, 부모에 대한 애착이 안정적일수록 친구에 대하여 긍정적인 감정을 많이 가지게 되고, 친구가 사회·정서적 지원을 해준다고 지각하며, 어머니에 대한 애착이 안정적일수록 친구에 대한 부정적인 감정을 덜 가지게 되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 부모에 대한 애착은 또래에 대한 애착과 유의한 관계를 나타내어, 부모에 대한 애착이 높을수록 또래에 대한 애착도 높았다. 셋째, 부부갈등은 아버지에 대한 애착 및 어머니에 대한 애착과 부적으로 유의한 관계가 있었다. 즉, 부부갈등이 높을수록 부모에 대한 애착은 낮게 나타났다. 마지막으로, 아버지에 대한 애착과 어머니에 대한 애착은 부부갈등과 친구에 대한 긍정적 감정 및 친구의 기능간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타나, 부부갈등은 부모에 대한 애착을 통해 친구에 대한 긍정적 감정과 친구의 기능에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 부부갈등과 또래애착간의 관계에서, 아버지에 대한 애착은 완전 매개적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타나, 부부갈등은 아버지에 대한 애착을 통해 또래애착에 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한, 어머니에 대한 애착은 양자간에 부분 매개적 역할을 함으로써, 부부갈등은 또래애착에 직접적인 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라, 어머니에 대한 애착을 통해 간접적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이러한 결과는 부부갈등 자체보다는 부부갈등으로 인해 형성된 부모에 대한 애착이 또래관계에 있어 보다 더 중요한 요인임을 시사한다. ; The purpose of this study was to examine the relations of marital conflict and attachment to peer relationships in adolescents. The mediating role of attachment was also explored in the relations between marital conflict and peer relationships. The subjects of this study consisted of 284 8th graders(138 boys) in D city. The data were collected through questionnaires. The present study used four questionnaires based on Children s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale by Grych, Seid, & Fincham(1992), Revised Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment(IPPA-R) by Armsden et al.(1991), and Friendship Quality by Jung(2000). The main results of the study were as follows: First, marital conflict was related with positive feelings for their friends, friendship functions, negative feelings for their friends, and peer relationships. Adolescents who perceived higher marital conflict reported lower positive feelings for their friends, and lower peer attachment, and perceived friendship functions negatively. But adolescents who perceived higher marital conflict reported higher negative feelings for their friends. Second, while attachment to fathers and mothers was related with positive feelings for their friends, friendship functions, and peer attachment, attachment to mothers was related with negative feelings for their friends. Adolescents who showed higher their attachment to parents reported higher positive feelings for their friends, higher peer attachment and perceived friendship functions affirmatively. But Adolescents who showed higher their attachment to their mother reported lower negative feelings for their friends. Third, marital conflict was related with attachment to fathers and mothers. Adolescents who perceived higher marital conflict showed lower their attachment. Finally, attachment to fathers and mothers mediated in the relations between marital conflict and peer relationships, indicating that marital conflict had an indirect effect on peer relationships. It is suggested that attachment to fathers and mothers derived from marital conflict played more important role in determining peer relationships in adolescents than marital conflict itself.
