성인 피아노 초보자를 위한 'Piano for pleasure'와 'pianolab' 비교 연구

Abstract

최근 피아노 교수법의 발달에 따라 음악에 대한 포괄적인 이해를 위한 접근을 시도로 반주법, 기능화성, 조옮김, 창작 활동 등을 통해 실용적인 기능 학습에 중점을 둔 성인용 피아노 교재들이 출판되기 시작하였다. 그러나 이러한 교재의 발달에도 불구하고 우리 나라에서는 아직까지 대부분의 성인학습자들이 아동용 교재를 사용하고 있다. 따라서 다양한 학습활동과 포괄적인 내용을 포함하고 있는 성인용 피아노 교재의 비교·분석을 통하여 각 교재의 특징을 살펴봄으로써 성인학습자들에게 적합한 교재 선택 및 앞으로 우리 나라의 교육 실정과 정서에 맞는 교재 개발에 도움을 주는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 먼저 이론적 배경에서는 성인학습자의 특성과 성인 피아노 교수법에 기초가 되는 성인 피아노 학습의 목표, 성인학습자의 특성에 따른 지도 방법, 그리고 성인 피아노 교재의 발달과정과 교재의 특성에 대하여 살펴보았다. 본문에서는 이 연구를 하는데 중점을 둔 분석자료로 최근 미국에서 출판되고 있는 성인 피아노 교재로 힐리(M. Hilley)와 올슨(L. Olson)(1998)의 공저로 제작된『Piano for Pleasure』와 린더만(C. Lindeman)(1996)의『PianoLab』을 선택하여 먼저 각 교재가 전반적으로 어떻게 구성되었는지를 살펴보았다. 그리고 포괄적인 학습내용을 살펴보기 위해 피아노 학습의 영역과 관련하여 레퍼토리, 이론, 테크닉, 독보, 조옮김, 선율의 화성화, 즉흥연주 등 크게 7가지 영역으로 나누어 각 교재에서 학습되고 있는 순서와 방법적인 측면에서 비교·분석하였다. 구체적으로 레퍼토리는 솔로곡과 앙상블곡을, 그리고 작곡가와 레퍼토리를 시대별로 분류하였으며, 음악의 장르별로, 민요와 노래를 나라별로, 그리고 음악의 형식, 조성, 박자를 분류해서 살펴보았다. 이론은 리듬과 음정, 화음, 조성과 조표, 음계, 사용된 음악용어 및 기호 등을 학습되고 있는 순서와 방법에 따라 살펴보았다. 그리고 테크닉 연습방법과 독보력 향상을 위한 접근 방법, 그리고 조옮김되고 있는 조성과 학습방법을 학습순서와 관련하여 살펴보았다. 또한 선율을 화성화하기 위해 사용된 화음의 종류와 반주의 형태를 살펴보았으며, 즉흥연주의 유형과 관련하여 즉흥연주의 학습순서와 접근하고 있는 방법에 따라 비교·분석하였다. 그리고 각 교재의 비교·분석을 통해 성인 피아노 교재의 특성에 따른 포괄적인 학습내용과 각 교재에 제시되고 있는 학습순서와 접근방법에 따른 분석결과를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 두 교재는 음악의 기초와 실질적인 건반 기술의 개발 및 연주력 향상이라는 포괄적인 피아노 교육에 부합하는 특징들이 상당히 많이 제시되고 있었다. 그러나 두 교재가 초보단계의 교재로 각 영역에 따라 학습의 비중 정도, 그리고 제시되고 있는 순서와 접근 방법이 공통적인 부분도 있었지만 대부분 다르게 접근하고 있었다. 무엇보다도 미국교재이기 때문에 미국적인 스타일의 음악을 이용한 학습이 상당히 많이 제시되고 있었다. 이러한 특징이 우리 나라 학습자들에게 그대로 적용될 수는 없지만, 우리 나라 실정에 맞는 교재를 개발하는데 새로운 아이디어와 일련의 방향을 제시해 줄 수는 있을 것이다. ; As piano teaching methods are improving, many piano texts for adults which are focused on functional keyboard skills have been published these days. This functional keyboard skills is performed with accompaniment style, function harmonization, transposition, and creative activity. which is an attempt to approach comprehensive understanding of music. In spite of the publishment of the texts improved in the teaching method, however, most of adult learners in Korea are using texts for children. The purpose of this thesis is to give help for development of texts appropriate to context of education and Korean emotion in the future and for choice of texts suitable to adult learners, this task will be reached by studying the peculiarities of texts from comparison and analysis of piano texts for adults which include various learning activities and comprehensive contents. Firstly, in the theoretical background, I examined characters of adult leaners, the goal of adult piano lesson that offer a clue for piano teaching methods, proper lesson methods to characters of adult leaners, and the peculiarities and development process of piano texts for adults. For this study, I used 『Piano for Pleasure』(1998) written by M. Hilly & L. Olson, and 『PianoLab』(1996) written by C. Lindeman, which are published in America recently, as major references for analysis, examining what each text consists of on the whole. Then I compared and analyzed each text in the respect of lesson courses and methods, which include divisions of repertory, theory, technique, music reading, transposition, harmonization, and improvisation, to reflect the comprehensive lesson contents. I classified repertory into solo and ensemble, compositor repertory according to generations, music genre, and folk songs according to countries, then arranged form, key, and meter of music. I also examined theories of rhythm, interval, chord, key, scale, music terms, and sign according to course and method in lesson. And an approach to develop the learning methods of technique and music reading ability, and learning methods for transposition and composition is considered in relation to lesson course. We get to know various types of harmony and styles of play used for harmonization of melodies by comparison and analysis according to lesson course of improvisation and approach to it. A result of analysis came out of the lesson course and the approach suggested in each text, and comprehensive lesson contents suitable to peculiarity of adult piano text by analyzation and comparison of each text. In conclusion, both texts used as major reference for this study give features relatively suitable to a comprehensive piano lesson such as base of music and development functional keyboard skills and improvement of play ability. While both texts have common approaches to the weight degree of lesson in divisions of texts, course, and approach for beginners, they use much approaches differently. This is due to American texts that suggest lesson much used American style music. Though these features can not be applied to Korean learners as they are, they may give a direction and an idea to develop texts coincident with Korean context.
