윤리적 특성교육이 중학생들의 과학과 관련된 태도와 학업성취도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

현대사회를 살아가는 우리들은 과학과 기술의 발달로 인한 삶의 질 향상, 경제적 풍요 등의 많은 혜택을 누리고 있다. 그러나 최근 들어 과학기술의 발달로 인해 야기되는 많은 윤리적 문제들이 사회적으로 부각되고 있으며 이로 인한 위기의식이 팽배해지고 있다. 이와 같은 사회분위기로 인해 과학교육 현장에서의 윤리적 특성교육에 대한 중요성 또한 그 어느 때 보다도 강조되고 있다. 이러한 맥락으로, 본 연구에서는 중학교 교육과정과 관련된 윤리적 특성 교육이 학생들의 과학과 관련된 태도 및 학업성취도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 조사하고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 서울시의 한 남녀혼성 중학교 2학년 학생 132명이었으며 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 2개 집단을 구성하였다. 통제집단은 교과내용 위주로 수업을 실시하였으며, 실험집단은 교육과정과 관련된 윤리적 주제들을 선정하여 윤리적 특성 교육을 함께 실시하였다. 학생들의 과학과 관련된 태도와 학업성취도의 수준을 알아보기 위해 수업 실시 전에 사전 검사를 실시하였으며 한 학기 동안의 수업 실시 후 과학과 관련된 태도와 학업성취도에 대한 사후검사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 윤리적 특성 교육은 과학과 관련된 태도에 있어서 과학수업에 대한 흥미를 증진시키고 과학교과의 유용성과 실용성에 대한 인식을 높이는 데 효과적이었으며(p<.05), 과학과 관련된 윤리적 문제들에 대한 태도 변화가 긍정적으로 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 학업성취도를 향상시키는데 있어서는 윤리적 특성 교육의 효과가 통계적으로 유의미하게 검증되지는 않았다 본 연구 결과를 통해 윤리적 특성 교육이 학생들의 과학에 대한 긍정적 인식 변화와 윤리적 가치판단 능력을 배양시키는데 필요하다는 것을 확인하였다. ; The developments of science and technology improve the quality of life and lead to an affluent economic society. However, recently, these abrupt developments has been brought about many problems in morality and a critical situation in our society. In this way, the educating ethical characteristics of science has become more prominent in the field of science education. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the educating ethical characteristics of science related to middle school science curriculum to examine the students attitude toward science and science achievement. In this study, the subjects were 132 second grade students of middle school in Seoul, who were divided into two groups having no statistically difference. The general education based on curriculum was executed in the control group and the educating ethical characteristics of science selected in terms of ethnic subjects was performed in the experimental group. The pre-tests were performed for the accomplishment and attitude toward science before this study. After one term of instructing, the post-test were performed. The results of this study showed that the educating ethical characteristics of science positively influenced on the students attitude toward science and the positive recognition of science education. And the students in experimental group showed the positive attitude for the ethnic problem related to the science and technology. However, it was not obviously revealed that the educating ethical characteristics of science improved the achievements of studying by statistical method. Therefore the results of this study suggest that the educating ethical characteristics of science are needed for increasing the positive recognition toward science and the ability of the determination in an ethnic problems related to science and technology.
