Hugo Wolf의 'Italienisches Liederbuch'에 관한 연구 분석

Abstract

볼프(Hugo Philipp Jakob Wolf 1860-1903)는 슈베르트(Franz Peter Schubert 1797-1828)와 슈만(Robert Schumann 1810-1856) 그리고 브람스(Johannes Brahms 1833-1897)가 이룩해 놓은 독일예술가곡의 전통을 이어받아 이를 더욱 더 발전시킨 후기 낭만파의 대표적 작곡가이다. 볼프는 열렬한 바그너(Wilhelm Richard Wagner 1813-1883)의 예찬론자로서 시와 음악을 혼연일체 시켜 종전의 낭만파와는 다른 문학과 음악의 융합을 강조하였다. 그는 후기낭만파 시인인 하이네(Heinrich Heine 1714-1787) 아이헨도르프(Joseph von Eichendorff 1788-1857) 괴테(Johann Wolfgang von Gothe 1749-1832), 뫼리케(Eduard Morike 1804-1875)의 시를 통하여 풍부한 상상력과 창작력으로 시와 음악과의 관계를 더욱 심오하게 다루어 독일예술가곡을 더욱 발전된 양식으로 진보시켰다. 그의 가곡은 250여곡에 이르며 각 곡은 풍부한 개성과 다양함으로 그 가치를 더하고 있다. 볼프의 연가곡집 「이탈리아 가곡집」(Italienisches Liederbuch)은 1890년부터 6년간에 걸쳐 작곡된 작품으로 총 46곡으로 되어 있다. 본 논문에서 연구한 제1곡 「Auch kleine Dinge」(비록 작은 것 일지라도),제10곡 「Du denkst mit einem Fadchen mich zu fangen」(당신은 나를 작은 실로 옭아매고), 제11곡 「Wie lange schon war immer meinVerlange」(얼마나 오랫동안 나는 바랬던가), 제15곡「Mein Liebster ist so Klein」(내 연인은 아주 작다오)제20곡「Mein Liebster singt am Haus」(내 연인이 집앞에서 노래하고 있네), 제43곡「Schweig′einmal still」(좀 입을 다물고 있는게 어때), 제46곡 「Ich hab in Penna einen Liebsten」(나의 연인은 ‘펜나’에 한 사람 살고 있죠) 는 모두 짧은 길이의 가요 형식(Song Form)으로 구성되는데 이것은 음악 양식적인 측면에서 이전의 전통을 따르는 형태로 나타난다. 그러나 리듬, 반음계, 비화성음과 변박의 사용에 있어서 혁신적인 모습을 보인다. 또한 가사의 내용에 맞추어 음악이 변화되는 형태로 나타나 볼프가 시, 즉, 가사에 중점을 두었음을 알 수 있다. ; Hugo Wolf(1860-1903) is often considered the legitimate successor of Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. He projected the tradition of German lied to a greater magnitude by creating the greatest masterpieces of German songs throughout the later Romantic era. As a fervent advocate of Wagner, Wolf s greatest merit of achievements lies in the inter-fusion of poetry and songs by predecessors from the earlier Romantic school. Wolf s choice of song texts from a source of Romantic poets such as Heine, Eichendorff, Goethe and Morike fostered a wealth of imagination and creation. A more profound counterpoint of musical strands was interwoven with poetic content to convey the evolution of a more mature genre of German lied. Wolf s significance in music history rests on the essence and variety of his songs about 250 in number. The purpose of this study is to analyze and investigate the musical characteristics and styles of works by Hugo Wolf. The author has focused on songs from repertoire of past performances from Wolf s books of 「Italian Lieder」namely Song No. 1 Auch kleine Dinge , Song No. 10 Du denkst mit einem Fadchen mich zu fangen , Song No. 11 Wie lange schon war immer meinVerlange , Song No. 15 Mein Liebster ist so Klein , Song No. 20 Mein Liebster singt am Haus , Song No. 43 Schweig′einmal still , Song No. 46 Ich hab in Penna einen Liebsten . In terms of musical format, Wolf s songs are composed in short song forms that follow the conventional style of his predecessors. The use of rhythm, chromatic Lines, discord and changing meter, however, Wolf s style is quite radical. Moreover, Wolf changes the melodic contour whenever the lyrics differ in meaning. It shows that Wolf pays particular attention to the text of his work.
