조선조 자수주머니 문양을 응용한 의상디자인연구

Abstract

복식은 한 시대의 양식을 나타내는 문화적 산물로서 보호적이거나 실용적인 기능외에 인간의 미적 의지를 담고 있으며 시대에 따라 다양한 미의식이 반영되어 시대적 조형 의지를 보여준다. 특히 아름다움을 추구하려는 미의식은 역사의 시작과 더불어 발달한 것으로 복식에서는 형태나 소재, 문양 등으로 표현되어 왔는데, 중 문양은 인간의 정신세계와 물질세계를 미적으로 발현하여 가시적이며 직접적인 의미 표현 수단으로 장식적이면서 주술적인 역할을 해왔다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우리 민족의 전통생활용품 중 장식적이면서 상징적인 의미를 내포하고 있는 조선조 자수 주머니의 문양을 복식디자인에 응용하여 문양에 표현된 우리 민족의 정서를 알아보고 전통문양미를 현대적으로 표현하여 새로운 소재의 개발과 과거와 현재 그리고 미래로 이어지는 전통 계승의 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌 고찰을 통한 이론적 연구와 보존 유물의 실증적 자료를 통해 조선조 자수 주머니 문양의 특성을 분석하였고 이를 토대로 작품을 제작하였다. 이를 위해 우선 주머니의 역사적 기록들과 주머니의 종류를 형태, 신분, 소재, 장식, 용도에 따라 구분해 보았고 주머니에 표현된 문양의 종류를 살펴 문양의 상징적 의미와 조형성을 알아보았다. 그리고 전통 문양을 응용한 복식디자인의 사례를 들어 전통 문양의 다양한 표현방법을 알아보았다. 이상의 이론적 고찰을 통해 나타난 자수 주머니 문양을 복식에 도입하여 총 8벌의 실물 작품을 제작하였는데 작품제작에는 십장생문과 다양한 식물문, 자연문, 동물문 등이 복합적으로 충전되어 응용되었고 소재는 실크 소재를 사용하였고, 염색기법과 아플리케 기법을 통해 기본 문양을 표현하고 그 위에 비즈나 라인 장식을 이용한 장식작업을 통해 화려한 장식미와 문양의 강조 그리고 부조적 재질감을 연출하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 단순화되고 도식화된 조선시대 자수 주머니 문양은 복식에 적용하기 적합하였고, 화려하고 강렬한 색채는 염색, 자수, 비딩 등의 장식 기법에 의해 복식에 표현됨으로써 풍부한 표면의 장식 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 둘째, 문양 표현을 위한 여러 장식기법의 도입은 새로운 소재를 창출하여 소재자체가 옷을 만들기 위한 재료만이 아닌 새로운 디자인적 요소로서 복식디자인의 영감원이 될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다 셋째, 주술성과 상징성을 가진 문양들을 현대 복식에 도입함으로써 단순한 전통 문양의 재현이 아닌 우리 고유의 의식 속에 있는 염원을 현대적인 감각으로 복식에 표출할 수 있는 표현의 가능성을 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 결론을 바탕으로 전통문양의 현대 복식에 도입은 디자인 개발에 있어 독창성과 전통성을 부각시킬 수 있으며 전통 문양들의 주술적이고 상징적인 의미들은 문양이 외형적인 아름다움을 위한 디자인 요소에서 우리 민족의 정신세계도 반영함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 전통미의 현대화는 우리 민족의 독창미를 보여주는 것으로 세계 무대에서 차별화할 수 있는 것으로 전통에 대한 다각적이며 심도있는 연구와 현대화 할 수 있는 다양한 표현 방법이 지속적으로 연구되어야 할 것이다. ; Dress and its ornaments is same as clothes for the body and at the same time, cultural products presenting styles of an age. Therefore, it contains human aesthetic volition other than their protective and practical functions, and with aesthetic sense reflected in it differently for each age respectively, it shows formative volition or intention in the age it appears. Specially, aesthetic senses to pursue beauty have developed along with human history started, and they have been expressed in dress and its ornaments by means of forms, materials, patterns, etc., and patterns, in particular, manifested both the human, spiritual world and physical world beautifully, thereby taking their roles of ornamentation or decoration and charm. Therefore in this study, it is intended to apply the gorgeous, splendid patterns of one of those daily necessaries of the Korean people, the embroidery purse of the Chosun dynasty, to modern dress and its ornaments, thereby finding out the sentiment or emotion of our people expressed on the patterns, then expressing our traditional pattern beauty in a modern style, and finally suggesting the possibility to develop new subject matters and to inherit our traditions from the past to the present and future. For a method of this study, some characteristics of the embroidery purse patterns of the Chosun dynasty were theoretically reviewed through some documents, and those characteristics were analysed through some positive data; and based on that, some works were produced. For such a study, in the first place, history and kinds of the purses were classified, and with those patterns expressed on the purse being closely reviewed, some symbolic meanings and formativeness expressed on the pattern were understood. And with some cases of modern dress and its ornaments applied with embroidery patterns, a flow of modern senses of the embroidery patterns expressed on the traditional purse was closely reviewed. The embroidery purse patterns appeared throughout such a theoretical study on the patterns beauty were made up naturally to modern dress and its ornaments, and total 8 sets of actual works were produced. In this production, the patterns of 10 Long-Lived-Animal patterns, various plant patterns, natural patterns, animal patterns and so on were mixedly charged, and applied; for materials, various silk materials were used. And through dying technique and Aplerike technique, some basic patterns were expressed, and on that splendid, decorative beauty and the pattern s cubic effect were presented through decorative or ornamentation work in that Beads is utilized. Findings throughout this study are as follows: First, it appeared that the embroidery purse patterns of the Chosun dynasty which are simple and schematized fit into application with modern dress and its ornaments; they were expressed to dress and ornaments with some techniques of strong colors, dyes, embroidery, Beading, etc., and thereby handicraft effect could be achieved. Second, it could be identified that introduction of various decoration techniques for expression of patterns creates new subject matters; and materials themselves are not only materials but also new elements for design, arousing some inspirations of dress and its ornaments. Third, it could be seen that by introducing the patterns having charming nature and symbolism into modern dress and its ornaments, there is a possibility for our people s heart s desire, which exists in our characteristic consciousness or awareness, to be expressed in dress and its ornaments in modern senses, which is not reappearance of the simple, traditional patterns. Based on the findings above, it could be also understood that application of the traditional patterns to modern dress and its ornaments can emboss originality and traditionality in design development; and those charming and symbolic meanings of the traditional patterns even reflect the spiritual world of our people from the pattern s elements of design for external beauty. Also, the expressional technique for new ornamentation suggested a possibility to be re-evaluated as an excellent, subject matter. Thus, since modernization of traditional beauty can identify that it can bring us strong competitive power in the world through our original beauty, multilateral studies in depth on our tradition and on modernized design expression should be continued.
