IMF 이후 중, 고등학생들의 경제의식에 관한 조사연구

Abstract

무한경쟁 시대에 IMF 경제 위기에 처한 한국 경제를 이끌어갈 인재 양성을 위해서 청소년들의 경제의식 구조가 국가 경제 발전 상황에 따라 어떻게 변화되어 왔는가를 조사·연구하는 일은 매우 중요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 IMF 이전과 이후의 청소년들의 경제의식 실태를 비교·분석하고 다양한 문제점을 조사함으로써 청소년들에게 올바르고 건전한 생활양식과 근검 절약 할 수 있는 생활 습관을 기르게 하며 경제문제 전반에 대한 인식을 새롭게 정립하고자 하였다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌연구와 설문조사 방법을 병행하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 국민경제의식 과거에 비해 한국 경제에 대해 부정적으로 보는 시각이 많았다. 경제위기의 책임주체가 위기극복의 책임을 다하지 못함으로써 위기 극복의 책임이 근로자와 일반 국민들의 몫으로 돌려지고 있었다. 2. 국제경제의식 경제협력에 대해서는 올바른 인식이 정립되어 있지 못하였다. 경제협력이 필요하다고 응답하고는 있으나, 수입 자유화에 대해서는 부정적으로 보고 있었으며, 해외투자는 긍정적이나 해외 저축에 대해서는 부정적이었다. 3. 저축과 절약의식 과거와는 달이 구매한 물건에 대해 싫증을 덜 느끼고 있었고, 물자절약 운동에 참여할 의사를 밝힘으로써 저축·절약에 대한 의식이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 4. 소비의식 용돈이 감소하였음에도 불구하고 대부분 만족하고 있었고, 과거와는 달리 충동구매가 아니라 신중하게 제품을 구매함으로써 IMF 이후 자신들의 경제적 상황에 맞는 소비패턴이 이루어지고 있었다. 5. 직업의식 예전과 같이 능력과 적성을 중요시하였고, ‘직업에는 귀천이 없다’는 의견에 생각과 행동이 일치되고 있음을 보여줌으로써 대체적으로 건전한 직업의식을 가지고 있었다. 6. 생산과 노동에 관한 의식 경제적 자신감, 사회적 성취감에 있어서는 긍정적 반응을 보이고 있었으나, 근로자의 태도와 대우에 있어서는 모순되는 의견을 보이고 있었다. 이상의 결과를 요약해보면 경제의식에 있어서 대체로 긍정적인 의식을 가지고 있었다. 그러나 부정적인 측면의 의식도 내면화되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 바람직한 경제의식을 함양시키기 위해서는 중·고등학교에서 체계적인 경제교육의 개발이 이루어져야 한다. 또한 일상생활에서 접하는 경제현상 및 문제에 대해 합리적, 논리적으로 해결할 수 있는 경제적 사고방식의 습득 측면으로 경제교육의 개념 및 목적을 설정하여야 한다. 즉 실생활 위주의 소비자 교육내용을 강화하여 합리적인 가치판단과 경제적 사고방식을 고취시킴으로써 보다 윤택한 경제생활을 할 수 있도록 하는 것에 경제교육의 목표를 두어야 할 것이다. ; Despite a strong rebound, Korea s economy has only just bottomed out and will have a difficult time. In these unlimited, competitive circumstances, it is necessary to survey students changes of consciousness in accordance with the change of the national economic situation. This is because the younger generation needs to understand Korean economics in future-oriented aspects. Therefore, I investigated and analyzed various problems about the youth s economic consciousness. After surveying 633 students in middle and high schools in the Seoul Metropolis and Kyonggi province, I have compared the students′economic consciousness with the previous survey materials about "before and after IMF era". The contents of this thesis are as follows : 1. About domestic economy The negative points of view about Korean economy are more prevalent than the past. As the former government failed to control economic crisis, it is a burden to common people and workers. 2. About international economy There is no proper understanding about economic cooperation. They recognize economic cooperation, and they have a negative point of view about free trade. They have a positive point of view about foreign investment, but they have a negative idea about foreign saving. 3. About saving and austerity They felt less dislike things which were purchased than the past. They expressed a positive opinion about participating austerity movements. 4. About consumption Although pin money decreased, most students are satisfied. Instead of impulse buying, they purchased things cautiously. After IMF era, they purchased properly according to their economic circumstances. 5. About job They value ability and aptitude. There is a proverb, "Beggars can t be chooser". They agree with that proverb. They have a wholesome opinions about jobs. 6. About production and labor They show a positive attitude about economic confidence and social achievement, but they show a negative attitude about pay. This thesis concludes that most students have a positive opinion about economic consciousness, and they have a negative opinion about economic situation. In order to inspire desirable economic consciousness, we should develop the systematic economic consciousness. We can emphasize the way to solve economic phenomena logically and reasonably. Also we should inspire reasonable value decisions and economic consciousness in the social affairs division. By doing so, we can encourage a rich economic life.
