연속적 시지각 경험을 기초로 한 경관분석과 환경디자인 적용에 관한 연구 : 고속도로 휴게공간 사례를 중심으로

Abstract

현대물리학의 발전으로 모든 학문 분야에서 환경을 유기체와의 상호보완적 관계로 인식하고 유기체와 환경을 서로 분리할 수 없는 전체, 즉 전일적이고 시스템적 사고로 전환되고 있다. 이러한 시대적 패러다임의 변화로 우리는 환경디자인을 하기위해 인간, 자연, 물적환경, 인공물 등 이러한 요소들을 전일적 사고에 의해 통합적 접근과 시스템적 접근방법을 취해야 한다. 그러므로 환경디자인은 다양한 요소들이 상호의존적 관계속에서 내적 조화로 통합을 이루면서 인간의 활동과 자연환경을 도와줄 수 있는 하나의 질서체계로 계획되어져야 한다. 자연 및 물적환경의 요소들에 의해 근경, 중경, 원경의 형태로 인간에게 지각하는 경관은 환경의 물리적 측면으로 주로 시각에 의해 인간과 환경 사이의 관계를 나타낸다. 경관을 구성하는 제 요소들은 각각의 관계 속에서 끊임없이 변화하고 인간의 움직임 속에서 항상 유동적으로 지각되며 인간은 이러한 경관 속의 모든 시각적 요소를 지각하면서 생활하게 된다. 그러나 근대건축적 조형사고가 이끌어 온 오늘의 시각적 상황의 결과 경관의 각기 구성요소가 저마다 나름대로 독자적인 구성원리를 지니고 있으나 때에 따라 전체적으로 조화롭지 못하며 환경디자인에 있어 연속적으로 체험되는 전체적인 지각의 중요성은 다분히 소홀하게 취급되어온 경향이다. 따라서 본 연구는 인간의 지각체계 중 특히 시지각을 통해 주변환경과 상호교감하는 관계를 바탕으로 인간이 환경내에서 움직임 속에 경험되는 시지각적 연속성을 이론적 준거의 틀로 하여 인간 삶의 질적인 측면에서 다양한 욕구를 수용하고 외부환경과 건축환경이 유기적으로 통합할 수 있는 방법으로서 경관을 분석하고 환경디자인에 반영하는 디자인 접근방법을 취하였다. 본 연구는 문헌 고찰을 통한 이론 연구와 구체적 디자인 적용에 관한 제시하는 방법으로 진행되었다. 1. 환경과 시지각 개념을 살펴보고 환경디자인에 있어 여러 가지 지각이론의 고찰을 통해 학문적 준거의 틀을 마련하고 연속성의 개념과 다학문적 접근을 통해 시지각 이론 측면에서의 연속성 개념을 살펴보았다. 2. 경관의 일반적 개념과 특성을 고찰하고 이동체험에 의한 연속적 경관의 중요성을 이해하도록 하였다. 3. 도로경관의 연속성과 건축환경에서 움직임 속에서 경험되는 연속적 시지각을 바탕으로 디자인 해결방안을 위한 이론적 근거를 마련하였다. 4. 앞서 고찰한 이론적 근거를 바탕으로 대상공간인 고속도로 휴게공간의 일반적 특성을 알아보고 사례와 더불어 살펴보았다. 5. 디자인 적용기준에 의해 도출된 형태언어 및 개념을 대상지에 적용함으로써 실제 디자인에의 적용가능성을 확인하였다. 6. 디자인 프로세스를 거쳐 제시된 대안이 본 연구의 논지에 부합하는가를 보기위해 이를 디자인 적용기준에 의해 다시 검토하고 평가하고 그 기대효과를 밝혔다. 이러한 연구의 결과 인간의 이동체험에 의한 시지각적 연속성이 부여된 환경은 인간의 행위를 유발하고 방향을 제시할 수도 있으며 공간에 미적 경험과 특질을 부여하는 디자인 접근방법은 직관이 아닌 과학적이고 합리적이며 경험적인 환경디자인 방법론으로써 타당함을 갖게 되는 것이다. 이러한 접근 방법을 통해 건축 환경이 자연 생태계속에서 질서와 연속성을 가지며 시각적으로 전체와 부분의 통일성을 갖게 한다. 또한 인간이 주행중에 지각하는 자연 경관의 흐름을 대상공간에 적용하여 연속적인 경관을 부여함으로써 보다 쾌적한 휴게 공간을 창출하고 자연환경과 건축 환경이 하나의 총체적이고 연속적인 시각으로 경험될 수 있음을 알 수 있으며 환경디자인을 접근할 때 인간과 환경을 상호 보완적인 관계로 인식하고 통합적인 접근방법을 통해 창조된 환경이 내적 조화와 통합을 이루며 인간에게 연속된 시지각 경험을 갖게하는 하나의 질서체계로 형성되며 그 질서를 바탕으로 부분과 전체가 상호 유기적인 역학관계로 구성되며 관찰자가 이동함으로써 인지되는 질서가 리듬감있는 연속성으로 나타남을 알 수 있다. 끝으로 본 연구는 미래의 바람직한 환경창출을 위한 창조적인 환경 디자인 접근 방법으로서 그 의의를 갖도록 하겠다. ; Due to the development of modern physics, environment and organic bodies are regarded as an indivisible whole, or an holistic system in every fields. Through this change of paradigm, environmental design should take an integrated and systematic approach which combines human beings, nature, physical environment and artificial objects. Therefore environmental design should be planned as an orderly system of mutual-dependent elements which helps human activities and nature through internal coherence and integrity. Landscape which is perceived in the forms of vista builds a relationship of mankind and nature usually by visual perception. All the elements of landscape are constantly changing through their interactions and human beings perceives every visual elements in the landscape. But modern architecture led us to this situation that each elements are unique but sometimes not harmonious. And the importance of whole perception that is experienced sequentially has been left out of focus. Based on the relationship of human and environment built up by the visual perception, this study takes an approach that analyze the environment as a holistic and integrated system and applies it to environmental design. This study was progressed as follows; 1. I studied the concept of environment and visual perception, then I dealt with the concept of sequence in the view point of visual perception theory. 2. I investigated the general concept and characteristics of landscape, and explained the importance of the sequential landscape perceived during moving. 3. I set conformity for my design project based on the sequence of the highway landscape and the sequential visual perception experienced during moving. 4. Based on those conformities, I studied the characteristics of the subject of this study, the highway service area. 5. I conformed the applicability of the theory to real design by applying the concepts to the highway service area. 6. I suggested an alternative through designing process and I check if it agreed to the thesis of this study. Lastly, I evaluated the alternative and listed the expectable effects. The result of this study proves that landscape with sequential visual perception motivates man s activity. And the approach of design with artistic experience and characteristics is a very scientific, reasonable and heuristic environmental design methodology. With this approach, the architectural environment gets order, consistence and unity in natural surrounding. I kept the flow of the natural landscape that man perceives during driving when I designed my subject, so that I could create a more convenient space which is a combination of nature and architecture. The significance of this study is a scientific and creative approach of environmental design for desirable future environment.
