오브제(Objet)의 개념과 환경디자인에의 적용가능성에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 기계문명의 발달로 인한 인간 소외 현상, 도시인구의 증가 등으로 미적가치, 정보가치를 상실한 우리의 도시환경에 대한 문제의식에서 출발한다. 우리가 살고 있는 ‘서울’은 한 나라의 수도이며 천혜의 자연자원을 가지고 있음에도 불구하고, 그것이 가진 가치를 진정 발휘하지 못하는 경향이 있다. 우리는 지금까지 경제적발전이라는 이름아래, 양적인 팽창만을 추구하면서 진정한 삶의 수준을 높일수 있는 질적향상은 외면되어 왔던 것이 사실이다. 이렇듯 도시공간의 미적형성에 대해서는 고려되지 않았던 무계획적 고층건물군은 도시기능의 집중과 자동차에 의한 혼란으로 도시생활의 비능률적이고 비인간적인 결과를 초래하였으며 따라서 광범위한 도시기능의 재조정, 도시 환경의 개선을 위한 환경디자인적 요소가 더욱 강하게 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 조경, 건축, 도시설계 등의 제분야에서는 외부공간을 대상으로 다루면서 이의 질적 수준을 높이는 노력이 필요하다. 그러나 여기서 강조하고 싶은 것은 회부공간 혹은 조경이 환경의 질을 크게 좌우한다는 점이다. 우리가 현대의 도시를 콘크리트숲이라 매도하고 아스팔트 속에 섬같이 서있는 건물을 외면하는 것은 질에 대한 인간본질적인 욕구의 표현이다. 따라서 외부공간은 건물단위이든 건물군 또는 도시의 어떤 부분이든 질을 높이는 적극적인 수단이며 목적이 된다. 본 연구는 도시환경의 미적, 질적수준 향상의 필요성을 바탕으로, 현대미술에 있어서 오브제의 특성을 파악하고 이것을 훌륭하게 환경과 조화를 이루게하여 도시환경에 있어서 환경의 예술화, 예술의 환경화를 꾀하기 위해 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행하였다. １. 현대미술의 특성중 하나인 오브제(objet)를 이해하기 위해 현대미술의 전체적 흐름과 시대적 배경, 전개과정을 살펴보았다. ２. 오브제의 조형적 요소와 특성, 디자인에의 적용가능성을 분석함으로써 환경디자인에 있어서 오브제 적용방법의 기준과 방법을 제시하였다. ３. ‘확대된 장’으로서의 설치미술과 다원주의적인 현대건축을 비교, 분석함으로서 새로운 환경 디자인을 위한 가능성을 모색한다. ４. 본 연구에서 다루어야 하는 도심 오픈 스페이스의 정의와 기능을 알아보고, 서울에서는 어떠한 도심 오픈 스페이스가 적용가능한지를 파악한다. ５. 앞서 논의되었던 이론을 환경디자인에 적용시켜 현대미술과 건축의 조화로운 만남을 꾀한다. 예술의 일상에서 유리되지 않고 대중의 참여와 반응속에서 보다 예술적인 환경이 되도록 디자인을 제시한다. ; This research initiates from a critical mind on our urban environment due to human alienation as a product of mechanical civilization, and the loss of esthetic, informational value caused by the increase in population. In spite of the fact that ‘Seoul’, the city where we now reside in, is the capital of our nation and is gifted with abundant natural resources, the value of it is seldom demonstrated to the full. It is needless to say that we have been focusing on pursuing quantative expansion under the name if economic development, rather than qualitative expansion which can truly heighten the standard of living. Likewise, unplanned multi-story buildings which were inconsiderate of aesthetic management of city space, resulted in unproductive and inhumane urban life that brought about centralization of urban functions and automobiles. Therefore, in order to readjust to wide-ranged urban functions and to improve urban environmental design is at the moment being highly requested. In the fields such as landscape architecture, architecture and city-planning, it is necessary for one to be able to deal with ‘out-door space’, along with raising the quality of living at the same time. However, it is worth mentioning that out-door space in landscape architecture is easily influenced by the quality of the environment. Denouncing modern cites as ‘concrete forests’ and averting the building that stand as islands in the forests, is actually the expression of basic human desire. Accordingly, out-door space can be a positive means and purpose of raising the standard whether it may be building unit, building group or of any area in the city. Having the basis on realizing the necessity of improving, urban environment, this research follow the procedures in order to conceptualize ‘object’ in terms of modern art, and to successfully coordinate this concept into our environment so as to link environment and art closer together. １. In order to understand ‘object’ which is one of the characteristics of modern art, overall flow of modern art, periodic background and general process is presented ２. Presenting the method and standard for applying ‘object’ in terms of environmental design by analysing the formative element of ‘object’ along with its characteristics and the possibility of applying it to design itself ３. Grope for the possibility of new environmental design by comparing and analyzing installation art as and ‘extended field’ with pluralistic modern architecture ４. Understanding the definition and function of urban open space as used in this research, and acknowledging the different urban open space applicable in Seoul ５. Attempt to coordinate modern art with architecture by applying the theories mentioned above to environmental design, and to present design so as it can be seen not in isolation but in participation and reaction of people
