유리채색 기법을 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구 : amalgam coating에 의한 mirror효과를 중심으로

Abstract

패션 일러스트레이션은 패션 메시지 전달이라는 특별한 목적성을 가지는 동시에 미적 표현에 의한 예술성에 가치를 두는 장르로서 그 의미가 깊다. 또한, 패션 일러스트레이션은 표현 기법과 재료의 다양함, 그리고 다각적 기능으로 영역의 확대가 이루어지면서 패션의 중요한 표현기능을 지니는 분야로 고도의 전문성을 띠며 발전하고 있다. 현대 예술의 흐름은 순수 미술과 실용 미술의 한계를 모호하게 하며, 그러한 장르의 구분 또한 무의미함을 보여준다. 패션 일러스트레이션은 실용적 기능성을 내표한 고도의 예술적 표현을 통해 순수미술의 표현 영역으로 확대되고 있다. 본 연구는 패션 일러스트레이션의 표현에 있어서 가장 큰 비중을 차지하는 재료사용의 범위를 넓혀 실생활과 밀접한 기능적이고 실용적 특성을 가진 유리를 소재로 선택하였다. 유리 채색기법인 Glass Painting(유리 회화)을 주 기법으로 접근하여 유리 채색 기법의 풍부한 표현성을 바탕으로 회화적인 측면을 강조하였다. 또한 Amalgam Coating(아말감 코팅)기법에 의한 Mirror효과를 통해 빛에 의해 나타나는 시작적인 반사 효과의 독특한 조형미와 재질적 특성을 표현하고자 하였다. 즉, 패션 이미지 전달 매개체로서의 Mirror효과의 기능성과 상징성, 유리 채색 기법의 풍부한 장식적 측면을 통해 패션 일러스트레이션의 예술적 표현 영역을 확대함에 그 목적을 둔다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로 패션 일러스트레이션의 개념과 기능 및 용도를 고찰하고 발생 초기부터 현대에 이르는 미술사조와의 관계를 통한 변천과정을 문헌을 통해 연구하였다. 표현 기법 측면에 있어서 유리에 대한 기본적 연구와 유리 채색 기법을 통한 다양한 표현방법을 알아보고, Glass Painting 효과와 함께 아말감 코팅이 주는 Mirror 효과에 대한 고찰을 하였다. 이를 토대로 다양한 Glass Painting효과와 Mirror의 빛에 의한 이미지를 표현을 중심으로 총 10점의 작품을 제작하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째: 유리 채색 기법 중 Glass Painting의 특성을 패션 일러스트레이션의 표현기법으로 응용하여 새로운 표현기법으로 발전시켰다. 일반 페인팅과는 달리 화면의 뒷면에서 채색되며 역순으로 덧칠되는 특징이 있고, 페인팅 앞 표면의 유리 소재는 광택과 코팅 효과를 주며 독특한 조형미를 표출시킨다. 둘째: 유리 표면의 아말감 코팅에 의해 빛 반사 작용을 유도하여 표면에 강한 시각 효과를 주고, 주위의 인물 또는 오브제, 환경이 표면에 반사되어 화면에 담기는 동시에 특히 감상자의 모습이 여백공간의 Mirror 효과에 의해 작품과 함께 연출되어 거울의 기능을 갖는 동시에, 입체적이고 이중적 이미지의 효과를 줄 수 있다. 셋째: Glass Painting의 다양한 표현기법을 평판 유리와 같은 매끄러운 표면에 응용할 경우 붓 자국에 의한 독특한 질감 효과가 연출될 수 있으며, 안료가 표면에 완전히 점착되지 않으므로 마르기 전에 덧칠할 경우 밀리거나 조직이 해체되는 등 다양한 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 또한 붓 이외의 여러 가지 도구사용으로 표면에 다양한 질감을 낼 수 있다. 넷째: 전통적인 기법을 활용했던 스테인드 글라스의 이미지를 독창적으로 표현하기 위해 실크스크린에 의한 전사기법을 도입했으며 이러한 기법의 응용은 기존 스테인드 글라스의 이미지를 현대적 감각으로 표현하는데 용이하며 적절하였다. 본 연구에서는 패션 일러스트레이션의 표현에 있어서 유리 채색 기법을 응용한 다양한 효과와 가능성을 기대해 볼 수 있었고 새로이 응용된 재료와 매체 사이의 혼합을 통해 새로운 조형 세계를 열 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 유리 채색 기법의 평면적인 표현이 가능하며, 부분적인 Mirror 효과의 사용, 아말감이외의 다양한 코팅 재료와 유리 소재의 응용으로 표현 영역을 확대할 수 있을 것이다. 이에 지속적인 관심과 연구가 필요하며, 표현 재료의 무한한 가능성을 제시하며 후속 연구를 기대한다. ; As the beginning of another millenium is imminent, fashion industry is becoming more popularize thanks to globalization. Fashion illustration has its specific goal of conveying fashion messages and is regarded as an art that contains art expression. In addition, it has gained achievements in method and utility Thus it has developed as an important fields of art. the general tendency of modern art is to blur the line between the fine arts and the practical art, which urges fashion illustration to develope as both practical and artistic. In fashion illustration, materials consist the most important part. in this study the process of glass painting is experimented. Glass painting is to color directly on glass, and an additional method of amalgam coating creates a mirror effect that emphasizes visual formativity, texture as well as utility. This paper first classifies and analyzes the concept, function, and usage of fashion illustration in order to provide a theoretical framework. then it examines the historical transformation of fashion illustration through bibliographic research As the method, it deals with basic understanding on glass and various method of glass art. Along with the applications of glass painting in other ways, this paper also considers the mirror effect and other effects produced by light. The result following these experiments are; First, the formativity of glass painting is new expression, when combined with fashion illustration, can contribute to enlarge the boundary of visual arts. Secondly, the formativity of light, volume, and the contingency of the background by the amalgam coating s mirror effect suggest infinite possibilities of imagination. They also exalt the artistic value and utility of fashion illustration. Thirdly, the applies use of various techniques of glass painting proves its important role in fashion illustration by re-interpreting glass painting in modern arts. Forth, even though glass painting has been majorly used for expression of stained glass, with the introduction of a new expressional method of print of silk screen. To sum up, this study provides various effect possibilities of glass painting in the realm of fashion illustration. It also proves that newly applies material can open a new world of formative arts. This lead to a conclusion that fashion illustration is a field full of endless trials and experiments which will eventually expand the boundary of it and heighten its quality.
