동굴 종유석 형태를 응용한 의상디자인 연구 : 셔링 기법을 중심으로

Abstract

Born in nature, human beings become to recognize beauty presented in nature, and give birth to art by linking the expression of the recognition to their imagination. Clothing, which was merely fixed to the body using material gained from nature, is now developing into a new type of are expressed on the body, including designer s thought and claim with various materials. Hereby this study has a purpose to develop a new expression way of modeling clothes and its value and expand expression area through the development of clothes with cubic material and the motive of stalactite in the cave to make a unique modeling world of new art by subjectively observing and transforming the beauty of nature. The method of this study is to theoretically examine the kind, form, and organic structure of stalactite in the cave, and collect and analyze materials on the shirring skill to perspectively express it on the flat textile. To gain various material effects based on this purpose and theoretical background, I use various materials such as cotton, silk, polyester, and made 8 works including one-piece dress, two piece dress, overall, and coat with perspective composition of curved shirring and straightened one, and dyeing skill with empty sense. Results gained from this study are as follows. First, by studying nature, the vase of human life, I find that it is the foundation of human artistic consciousness and art activities. Second, not just expressing the exterior shape, design work with the material of nature is recreated into a new type of nature depending on artist s modeling will power. Third, I feel the infinite vitality of nature in examining the shape of stalactite, and the form of its unit is a suitable material for 3-dimensional art textile. Fourth, similar color by dyeing, change by complementary color effectively made the cubic space sense of textile. Fifth, by simple sewing skill without cutting or overlapping cloths on the basic material, cubic material is presented. Sixth, using various materials with various characteristics in structuring material, I gain various material effects and maximize the expression of design. This study only deals with clothes design made up of 3 dimensional motive applying the modeling character of stalactite to shirring skill. Since clothed are historical product carrying human desire, design transformation and development on a level with the material of nature through various skills is expected to continuously make. ; 자연에서 잉태된 인간은 자연에서 표출된 미를 인식하게 되고 이를 표현하는 과정에서 인간의 상상력을 결부시켜 결국 예술을 탄생시켰다. 의상은 과거 자연에서 얻어지는 소재만을 이용하여 신체에 맞추는 것에 불과하던 것이 이제는 다양한 소재에 디자이너의 표현의식과 주장을 담아 신체 위에 표현하는 새로운 예술의 형태로 발전되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 자연의 미 중 곡선미와 조형성 그리고 가장 자연적인 형태를 가지고 있는 종유석을 테마로 하여 주관적으로 관찰하고 변형함으로써 평면 원단 자체에 입체감을 부여한 재질을 소재로 한 의상개발을 통해 예술의상의 새로운 표현방법과 가치를 개발하여 그 표현영역을 확대하는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 방법은 동굴 내에 생기는 지형지물인 종유석의 종류와 형태, 그 유기적 구조에 대해 이론적으로 고찰하고 이를 평면의 원단 위에 입체감 있게 표현하기 위해 셔링 기법에 대한 자료들을 수집, 분석함으로써 진행하였다. 이러한 목적과 이론적 배경을 근거로 하여 다양한 질감 효과를 얻기 위하여 면, 실크, 폴리에스터 등 다양한 소재를 사용하였으며 곡선 셔링 기법과 직선 셔링 기법으로 입체감을 구성하고, 염색기법으로 공간감을 부여한 원피스 드레스, 투피스 드레스, 오버롤, 코트 등 총 8작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻은 이론적 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인간의 생의 원천인 자연을 연구함으로써 자연이 인간의 미의식의 근원이자 모든 예술활동의 모태임을 알 수 있었으며 오늘날의 인간과 생태계의 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 자연은 더욱 연구되어야하고 보존되어야 할 가치가 있다. 둘째, 자연을 소재로 한 디자인 작품은 단순한 외적 모양을 표방하는데 그치는 것이 아니라 예술가의 조형의지에 따라 변형된 새로운 자연의 형태로 재창조된다. 이러한 이론적 결과를 바탕으로 한 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 종유석의 형태를 연구하는데 있어서 자연의 무한한 생명력을 느낄 수 있었으며, 이를 변형, 단순화함으로 종유석의 단위 형태는 입체감을 가진 예술적 직물로 표현할 수 있는 적합한 모티브로 사용할 수 있다. 둘째, 염색에 의한 유사색, 혹은 보색의 점이변화는 직물의 입체적 성격을 효과적으로 조성할 수 있다. 셋째, 평면 원단 위에 자르거나 덧붙이지 않고 셔링을 이용한 단순한 재봉기법만으로 입체적 질감을 나타낼 수 있다. 넷째, 소재 구성에 있어서 다양한 재질과 특성을 가진 소재들을 이용하여 각각 다른 질감 효과를 얻을 수 있으며 디자인의 표현을 극대화 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 자연의 일원인 종유석의 조형미를 셔링 기법을 응용하여 형성된 3차원적 모티브를 재 조합하여 구성된 의상디자인에 대하여서만 다루었다. 의상은 반복적으로 인간의 욕구를 성실히 이행하는 역사적 산물이므로 앞으로도 다양한 기법을 통하여 자연을 소재로 한 새로운 차원의 직물 표현 방법과 인간을 주제로 한 디자인 형태의 변형 및 개발이 끊임없이 이루어 질 것으로 기대된다.
