종이조각기법을 응용한 패션일러스트레이션 연구 : 아르누보적 이미지를 중심으로

Abstract

과거의 패션일러스트레이션은 정확한 실제의 재현, 사실적 아름다움을 추구하는 작업에 불과하였지만, 오늘날에 이르러서는 패션에 대한 관심의 증대와 다양한 변화로 인해 하나의 창조활동으로, 예술성을 전달하고 패션의 이미지를 창출하는 표현예술분야로 발전하고 있다. 현대의 패션일러스트레이션은 그 예술적 가치가 높아짐에 따라 전통적 표현인 드로잉 기법 뿐만아니라, 새로운 재료의 선택과 시각적 효과를 높일 수 있는 특색있는 표현 방법의 개발을 통해 하나의 조형활동으로 예술적 범주를 넓혀가고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는, 패션일러스트레이션의 표현재료로서 종이를 선택해 종이가 지닌 다양한 창조적 가능성을 모색하고 종이조형의 다양한 기법들을 연구하여, 패션일러스트레이션의 패션 이미지 표현에 있어서 새로운 기법으로 제시하며 이를 응용해 패션일러스트레이션의 표현영역을 확대하는데 의의가 있다. 단순한 드로잉을 위한 바탕지로만 사용되던 종이를 새로운 표현재료로 활용하여 독창적이고 입체적인 표현 효과를 통해 패션일러스트레이션의 새로운 조형세계를 창출하며, 예술적 가치를 높히는데 그 목적을 둔다. 연구내용 및 방법은, 이론적 배경으로 패션일러스트레이션의 개념과 기능 및 활용을 분류 분석하였고 그 표현기법을 평면적 기법과 입체적 기법으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 또한 종이 조형의 개념과 유래에 대해 살펴보았고, 종이조형의 기법을 습식기법과 건식기법으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 작품 제작배경으로서 아르누보의 개념 및 아르누보 표현 양식과 특징적 모티브를 고찰하였고 이를 주제로 총 10점의 작품을 제작하였다. 작품의 모티브는 아르누보(Art Nouveau)양식에서 나타나는 백조·공작·나비의 이미지를 인체 혹은 특정부위 및 악세서리와 접목하여 감각적이고 상징적인 패션이미지를 표현하였다. 특히 부드럽고 흐르는 듯한 유기적인 곡선의 자연미와 자유롭고 생명감을 주는 아르누보(Art Nouveau) 양식을 통해 신비롭고 환상적인 초현실적인 조형세계를 표현하였다. 작품표현에 있어서 종이를 감거나 자르는 등 도구를 이용하여 조각의 효과를 주는 반입체적인 표현과 함께 섬세하고 장식적인 조형적 표현에 중점을 두어 인간의 손에 의해 만들어지는 수공예적인 아름다움을 표현하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일상생활 속에 드로잉을 위한 바탕지로만 사용되던 종이의 특성을 새롭게 발견할 수 있었으며 또한, 종이조형기법은 평면에서 입체까지, 인간의 손에 의해 만들어질 수 있는 섬세하고 정교한 표현까지도 가능하여, 패션일러스트레이션의 새로운 표현재료와 기법으로 그 가능성을 제시하였다. 둘째, 종이조각기법을 이용한 입체적 패션일러스트레이션은 빛에 의해 독특한 음영효과를 만들어냄으로써 더욱더 완결된 조형미와 입체적 표현을 가능하게 하였다. 셋째, 종이조형 기법을 이용한 패션일러스트레이션은 시각적 재질감과 함께 손으로 느낄 수 있는 촉각적 재질감을 동시에 표현함으로써 보는 이들에게 풍부한 재질적 감각을 전달하여, 패션일러스트레이션의 정서적이고 예술적인 면과 함께 장식적인 효과를 도모할 수 있었다. 이와같이 패션일러스트레이션의 표현기법 및 소재를 개발함에 있어서 고정된 관념을 벗어나 여러 가지 기존의, 또는 새로이 발달된 재료와 기법들을 새롭게 시도함으로써 실험정신과 자신만의 독특한 개성으로 표현영역 확대를 시도하여 패션일러스트레이션의 예술적 가치를 높혀갈 수 있도록 도전을 해 나가야할 것이다. ; In the past fashion illustration was nothing but precise reproduction of reality and pursuit of factual beauty but nowadays on account of expanded interest on fashion and diverse changes it progressed to function for conveying artistry as a creative activity and advanced to become an artistic field for expressing fashion image. As its artistic value is enhanced contemporary fashion illustration is expanding its artistic category as a formative art field not only by drawing technique which is a traditional expression but also by choice of new materials and through developing peculiar method of expression possible for heightening visual effect. Hence in this study the writer sought the creative possibility of papers as materials for expression for formative artistic and creative visual effect. And the significance of this study is with expanding field of expression of fashion illustration through developing new technique in expression of image for fashion illustration by applying such techniques. By using paper itself which is base material for simple drawing as new material for expression and by creating unique and cubic expression effect it is aimed to create new world of formative art and to heighten its artistic value. As for subject and methodology of study this writer classified and analysed concept, function and application of fashion illustration against theoretical background and analysis is performed by dividing methodology of expression into plain and cubic technique. Additionally concept and history of paper shapes were studied and its technique is divided into wet type and dry one and researched. In connection for work production main motif was art nouveau which is a new artistic form rejecting traditional form. As for work motif sensual and symbolic fashion image is expressed through grafting image of swan, peacock and butterfly appearing art nouveau form to human body, specific spot and accessories. Through Art Nouveau style which imparts particularly soft and flowing organic natural curve and liberal and vigorous image mysterious and fantastic surrealistic world is expressed. In the works this writer attempted to express beauty of handicraft works by stressing refined, decorative and formative artistic expression along with semi-cubic expression for creating an effect of sculpture by means of tools through either winding or cutting papers. The conclusion drawn from this study is as follows: First, discovery of new characteristics of papers being only used as basic material for drawing in daily living also, paper shaping technique is for expressing from plain to cubic forms which can be made by human hands even very intricate and refined expression is possible thus possibility of new material and technique for fashion illustration is presented. Second, since fashion illustration by means of papers is subjected to effect of illumination thus producing a unique shade effect and more perfect aesthetic beauty in consequence more cubic expression became possible. Third, fashion illustration by means of paper shaping technique transmits visual feel of texture and its tactile feel concurrently thus conveys sufficient feeling to spectators thus along with emotional and artistic aspect of fashion illustration it is possible to have common sensual effective. By freeing oneself from fixed idea and attempting new approaches for various existing conventional or newly presented materials and techniques challenge should by continued for heightening artistic value of fashion illustration by attempting to expand field of expression through spirit of experimentation and unique individuality in connection with developing technique for expression and materials for fashion illustration.
