자연의 이미지를 응용한 의상디자인 연구 : 석회동굴 퇴적물의 형상을 중심으로

Abstract

자연의 섭리 안에서 존재하는 인간은 자연의 끊임없는 변화와 조화 속에서 미의식을 갖고 예술이란 형식을 통하여 조형미를 표현하여 왔다. 예술에 있어 자연은 오래 전부터 다양한 소재로 이용되어 왔고, 자연의 완벽한 아름다움과 원초적인 생명력은 예술적 영감의 원천으로 예술가들에게 찬사와 모방의 대상이 되어왔다. 이러한 자연을 표현하는데 있어 인간의 조형의지는 단순히 자연을 모방하는데 그치는 것이 아닌 자연을 끊임없이 관찰, 탐구하면서 인간의지가 개입된 보다 성숙하고 우수한 미의식을 추구하는 것이다. 자연물 가운데 인간의 손이 덜 닿아 미지의 세계로 알려진 동굴은 정교한 자연의 섭리로 조성된 신비한 세계로, 천태만상의 경이로운 모습과 조화를 이루고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 동굴퇴적물의 다양한 형태에서 구조적인 특징과 선적 조형미를 발견하여 동굴퇴적물의 형태를 작품의 모티브로 사용하고자 하였다. 본 연구 목적은 동굴의 형태 중에서도 지형지물에 의한 2차 생성물의 다양한 형태를 독창적인 조형세계로 추구하였으며, 예술의상의 다양한 표현형식과 기법을 통해 새로운 재질감을 창출하여 의상 디자인의 표현영역을 확대하는데 있다. 연구 방법 및 범위는, 자연의 선에 나타난 선적 조형미를 근거로 선에 의한 조형원리의 형식을 문헌을 통하여 고찰하였고, 동굴의 종류와 특성에 관하여 문헌 및 사진자료를 표집하여 분석, 연구하였다. 또한, 동굴퇴적물의 형태를 모티브로 한 디자인 작품들을 수집하여 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 총 8벌의 작품을 제작하였으며, 동굴퇴적물 형태를 재구성하여 의상에 도입되는 과정에서 표현 기법과 방법을 통한 조형성을 개발하고자 하는 데 그 의의를 두고 있다. 이에 소재는 염색이 가능한 소재를 선택하여 그 재질에 따라 수직 실크, 거즈 등을 사용하였고 이미지 표현에 의한 기법으로는 염색, 테이핑, 퀼팅 등의 장식적 기법을 사용하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인간의 모든 예술의 모체인 자연이 무한한 형태의 아이디어를 제공함과 동시에 디자이너에게 있어 독창적인 조형의 세계를 이끌어줌을 알 수 있었으며, 자연의 선은 다양하고도 무한한 소재를 제공할 수 있는 조형성을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 동굴 퇴적물의 구조적인 형태 속에서 새로운 조형미를 발견하여 작품의 모티브로 사용함으로써, 조형원리에 근거한 선의 배열은 동굴퇴적물의 생명력과 생성의 이미지를 표현하는데 적절한 요소였다. 셋째, 작품에 사용한 테이핑, 염색 및 퀼팅 등 다양한 수공예적인 표현기법은 동굴퇴적물 형태의 자연미와 재질감이 풍부한 복식소재로 표현하기 위한 방법으로 적합하였다. 넷째, 염색기법을 통한 점이적인 다양한 색채는 동굴의 변화롭게 생성된 자연 이미지를 부각시킬 수 있었다. 이와 같이 예술의상의 소재와 기법의 다양화와 함께 의상의 조형적 표현 영역이 확대된다면 조형예술로서 의상의 표현성을 향상시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한 자연 형태의 조형성과 예술의상에 새로운 재질감 표현의 재창조에 중점을 두어 실용성과 예술성을 결합한 현대의상 디자인의 개발가능성을 보여주고자 하였다. ; Since its beginning man existing under the law of nature possessed aesthetic sense in the middle of endless changes and transformation of nature and expressed it in the form of art. Nature in art has been used as diverse source since long time ago and perfect beauty of nature and its primordial vitality were source of artistic inspiration and has been subject of admiration and imitation. In connection with describing such nature man s urge for aethestic expression did not stop at simple imitation of nature but was extended to continuous observation and research of nature in the quest of more mature and outstanding aesthetic sense encompassing human element in it. Caves known as a unknown world still remaining relatively free from encroachment of human beings are mysterious realm being created under intricate providence of nature and it maintains harmony with wonderous forms of multifariousness. Thus after discovering structural characteristics and aesthetic forms of various caves this writer came to possess urge for creative work. The purpose of this study is to draw out unique aesthetic aspect from secondary products being created by topographical configuration and nature of caves. And focus of emphasis in this study was in creating a value of new textural feel through diverse presentation and technique of artistic costume. As to scope and methology of study the principle of aesthetic forms of lines with reference to natural lines was studied from available literature and as to types and characteristics of caves were researched with available literature and analysis of pictorial data collected. Also design works based on motifs of caves were collected and analysed. Based on above totally 8 pieces of works have been completed and significance of the works is with attempt to develop aethestic forms through presentation technique and method via process of restructuring forms of caves and introducing it to clothes. Materials available dyeing are selected with an intention to create mystery of cave and its grandeur. Depending on materials hand-woven silk and gauze etc. were used and as for technique for expression of image decorative method including dyeing, taping and quilting are used. Conclusion reached through such research is as follows. First, by discovering new aesthetic forms form structure of cave sedimentation and using it as motif of work it was possible to leam that nature, the matrix of all arts, not only offers infinite ideas but also world of formative art of orginal creativity to designers. Second, in connection with presentation of cave forms arrangement of lines based on the principle of formative arts was proper elements for expression of life force of cave and image of its birth. For artistic clothes lines of nature possess aesthetic quality which can provide endless materials of diversity. And it was learned that versatility of technique through method of linear expression for artistic clothes lend itself to possibility for creating new feel of texture. Third, for expression of formative beauty of caves by materials which has rich feel of texture taping technique, dyeing and quilting etc. are used and it is discovered that above mentioned technique is proper for expressing cave forms through diverse handicraft technique. Fourth, diverse colors through dyeing technique vital natural image could be highlighted. If field of aesthetic expression of clothes is expanded concurrently with diversity in materials and technique of artistic clothes then creative capacity of clothes as formative art may be increased.
