청소년의 인터넷중독에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 먼저 연구 1에서 청소년의 인터넷 사용 및 중독에 대한 실태조사를 실시하였고, 연구 2에서 인터넷중독과 관련된 심리사회적 요인을 알아보기위해 자아관련변인, 부모의 양육태도, 사회적 지지간의 관계를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 서울 및 경기지역 중, 고, 대학에 재학중인 청소년 701명을 대상으로 각급 학교와 시립 청소년시설, pc방 등에서 설문을 실시하였다. 인터넷중독여부를 측정하기위해 Young(1996)의 20문항 척도를 사용하였고 청소년이 지각한 부모의 양육행동을 파악하기위하여 허묘연(1999)의 43문항 부모양육행동척도를 사용하였다. 사회적 지지를 알아보기위해 윤혜정(1993)이 4개 하위영역(정보적, 정서적, 물질적, 평가적 지지) 25문항으로 구성, 보완한 검사를 부모와 교사, 친구로부터의 지지에 대해 각각 응답하도록 하였다. 인터넷과 관련된 개인적 효능감과 대인관계적 효능감 등 가상공간에서의 자기효능감을 재는 척도는 Henry와 Stone(1997), Paulhus와 Delroy(1983)가 각각 개발한 것을 송원영(1999)이 수정한 20문항의 척도를, 충동조절력과 만족지연 등 자기통제력을 재는 척도는 Gottfredson과 Hirschi (1990)가 사용한 자기통제력척도와 김현숙(1998)의 자기통제평정척도를 참고로 남현미(1999)가 재구성한 것을 사용하였으며, 자아존중감을 측정하기 위해 Rosenberg(1965)의 Self Esteem Scale을 사용하였다. 연구 1의 결과 인터넷중독으로 분류된 청소년의 비율은 36.5%였으며, 연구 2의 결과 인터넷중독점수가 높을수록 가상공간에서의 효능감은 높았으나 자아존중감과 통제력은 낮았다. 또한 인터넷중독점수가 높을수록 사회적 지지는 낮았고, 부모의 양육행동 중 방치, 과잉기대 등의 점수가 높았다. 이는 전반적 자아존중감이 낮고 가상세계에서 자기효능감이 높은 청소년은 현실보다 안전한 가상세계에서만 자아를 찾고자 하는데, 현실세계에서의 진지한 자아탐색과의 조화없이 가상세계에서 제공하는 순간적인 만족만을 추구하는 경우 자신의 정체성을 탐색하는데 실패하고 인터넷중독에 빠지게된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 회귀분석 결과 설명력은 37%였고, 부모의 방치 , 가상공간에서의 효능감, 자기통제력, 부모의 과잉기대 , 자기존중감, 사회적 지지 등의 순으로 인터넷중독에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 자아(self)관련 변인은 인터넷중독을 설명하는 모형에 모두 포함되었다. 남학생이 여학생보다 유의미하게 인터넷중독점수가 높았으며 학년이 올라가면서 인터넷중독 점수는 낮아졌다. 자신이 인터넷을 잘하며 가상공간에서 자기가 원하는 결과를 얻을 수 있을 것이라고 생각하는 가상공간의 자기효능감 이 모든 집단에서 인터넷중독을 결정하는 중요한 요인으로 포함되었으며, 또한 부모의 방치 는 대학생집단에서는 인터넷중독에 그다지 영향을 주지 못했으나 중고등학생집단에서는 가장 설명력이 높은 변인으로 모형에 포함됨으로써 인터넷을 잘하는 청소년을 중독으로부터 예방,치료하기 위해서는 부모의 적절한 관심과 개입이 매우 중요함을 나타내었다. ; This study is composed of 2 parts ; part 1 is a survey on internet use and addiction of adolescents, and part 2 is to investigate relations among personal traits(self esteem, self efficacy in cyberspace, self control) and psycho-social factors(parenting behaviors perceived by adolescents and social support from parent, teacher and friend) influencing of self that determines internet addiction. The survey has administered by students of middle schools, high schools, and universities in Seoul and Kyung-gi province, in the schools, public youth centers or in commercial internet booth(so called PC-bang) for about 40 minutes. Scale for internet addiction, parenting behavior inventory perceived by adolescent, social support scale on 4 subareas(informative, affective, financial and evaluative) from parent, teacher and friend, scale of self efficacy in cyberspace, scale of self esteem and scale of self control were used. The result of part 1 survey, proportion of internet addiction is 36.5%. In detail results of part 2, internet addicted adolescents reported much more parent s neglect and less social support than non-addictive adolescents. Especially, the internet addiction is more related with neglect, overexpectation, intrusiveness of their parents. And the higher score of internet addiction, the less self esteem and self control and the higher self efficacy in cyberspace. It means adolescents who have lower self esteem and higher self-efficacy in cyberspace prefer cyberspace, and if they don t effort to find their self identity in real world, instead of finding immediate satisfaction in cyberspace, they fall into internet addiction. The regression result with 37% power is that the effects are significant ; parent s neglect, self-efficacy in cyberspace, self control, parent s overexpectation, self esteem, support from friends in order. Boys had a significantly higher degree of internet addction than girls. And the older individual, the lower degree of internet addiction. Especially, parents neglect are very important factors determining middle school and high school students internet addiction, so the proper parenting -autonomy and monitoring- is very important in preventing and treatment on internet addiction.
