Anton Heiller의 tanz-toccata에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 20세기 오스트리아 음악가인 Anton Heiller(1923～1979)의 오르간 작품인 「Tanz - Toccata」를 살펴봄으로써 그의 오르간 음악을 이해 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 20세기 초 독일과 오스트리아에서는 프랑스 인상주의에 대한 반발로 A. Schonberg, A. Berg, A. Webern에 의해 개척된 표현주의 양식과 더불어 무조음악, 그리고 바로크 시대의 음악 형식에 현대 스타일을 접목시킨 신고전주의 양식이 나타나게 되었다. 이러한 상황 속에서 Heiller는 바로크의 상징주의, 12음계 소재를 다루는 기법, 음악에서의 긴장과 이완, 인상주의적인 색채감과 감각적인 화성의 표현 등 새로운 음악 경향들을 폭 넓게 받아들이면서도 어느 한 쪽으로도 치우칠 수 없는 그만의 독특한 음악 기법으로 오르간 작품을 내놓았다. 본 논문에서 분석한「Tanz - Toccata」는 그의 오르간 작품 중 가장 많이 연주되는 작품으로 제시부와 그 제시부의 조옮김(transposition)으로 교환과 확대로써 주요 부분을 이루는 재현부의 두부분으로 구성되어 있다. Heiller는 이 곡에서 짝수나 3박자 계통의 박자에 5, 7 리듬을 두면서 리듬의 분할, 변박등 매우 다양한 리듬을 선보이고 있으며 페달에서 나타나는 음들의 도약은 점묘주의 기법을 사용하였다. 그리고 잦은 반복과 모방으로 이루어진 이곡의 처음에서 보여지는 밀집화음(tone - cluster)은 오르간이라는 악기의 장점을 최대한으로 이용했으며 이곡에서 그는 화성을 사용함에 있어 음색을 내는 매우 중요한 아이디어로 만들어 독특한 색채감을 불어 넣고 있다. Heiller는 여러가지 음악양식들을 받아들이면서 그 만의 독자적인 양식을 확립하여 동시대의 오르가니스트에게 많은 영향을 주고 있으며 20세기 오르간 음악에 있어서 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. ; The purpose of the thesis is to study Anton Heiller(1923-1979), who was the 20th century musician from Austria, and to understand his organ music. Both Germans and Austrians were rebellious towards France s Impressionism at the beginning of the 20th century. As a result, Schoenberg, Berg, and Webern s style, which developed techniques of Expressionism, atonality, and Neo-Classicism, an adaptation in the modern style of Baroque forms of music, was much more popular. However, Heiller s work contained elements of twelve-tone technique, intensity and relaxation in music, rational expression of harmony, and the style of Baroque. Even though his work contained all these different styles and techniques, he was able to combine them and produced his own distinct style. “Tanz-Toccata”is one of the most often played organ compostions, and the work consists of two big sections which are related as exposition and recapitulation. Heiller makes copious use of five-unit and seven-unit rhythms which, however, are often found in the course of passages in duple or triple time. Additionally, with repetition and imitation the tone-cluster of the beginning of “Tanz-Toccata”is seen as taking full advantage of the organ, and the harmony is shown in very distinct style which was not seen in his previous works. The greatness of Heiller s work is that though he used various styles of music, he was able to combine them and developed a unique style which has influenced many Austrians and has played an important role in 20th century organ music.
