남녀별 노동이동 패턴에 대한 연구 : 경기침체기를 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문의 목적은 어떤 상황이 주어질 때 남녀간 노동이동 패턴에 어떠한 차이가 있는가를 보는 것이다. 특히 경기침체기에 해고를 당했다는 상황하에서의 남녀 노동이동패턴에 초점을 맞추었다. 이러한 분석을 위해서는 적어도 한 개인에 대해 2기간의 노동이동정보가 주어져야하므로 패널데이타를 이용하였다. 그리고 노동이동에 대한 연구는 취업, 실업, 비경제활동이라는 모든 노동이동현상을 동시에 고려할 때 제대로 파악되므로 3가지 선택에 대한 계량모형으로 multinomial logit 을 이용하였다. 위의 계량모형을 통해 노동이동패턴의 남녀차이를 분석하였는데 이때 관찰가능한 특성으로 학력과 경력, 결혼유무를 고려하였으며 전체적인 노동이동패턴의 차이 뿐만 아니라 산업별, 직종별, 종사상지위별, 학력별로 나누어 다시 분석하였다. 그 결과 남성이 취업할 확률은 여성보다 클 뿐 아니라 동시에 실업할 확률도 여성보다 크다는 결론을 내릴 수 있으며 이것은 여성이 비경제활동으로 이동할 확률이 크기 때문에 가능함을 알 수 있다. 각 특성별로 분석해 본 결과 가운데 흥미로운 사실은 고위공무원이나 전문직일수록 남녀차이가 크지 않다는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 대졸이상의 경우가 다른 학력에 비해 실업할 확률에 대한 남녀차이가 작다는 것을 발견할 수 있다. 이러한 실증분석의 결과는 3부문 선택에 대한 탐색이론으로 설명되어질 수 있다. ; This thesis examines gender differences in mobility patterns in an economic downturn. It focuses on how displaced workers behave differently between genders for the 1998.1～1998.9 period. The most straightforward way of investigating mobility patterns is to track each individual for multiple periods. On the basis of the Economically Active Population Survey from the National Statistical Office, we reconstruct monthly micro panel data using individuals time-invarient characteristics such as gender and birth date etc.. For the entire sample period, monthly average of identification rate is well over 97 percent. Since displaced workers have three choices, taking other jobs, being unemployed, and being out of the labor force, the multinomial logit model is applied to exploit the nature of multiple choices. The most important finding is that, after being displaced, women tend to choose the nonmarket sector while men either start seeking jobs or instantly find other jobs. This result is robust with respect to changing model specifications and/or splitting the sample by industry or by occupation. The current findings are consistent with traditional human-capital-based search theories.
