회화에서 여성성과 장식성에 관한 연구

Abstract

미술작품은 창조적 주체인 작가가 만들어낸 독자적인 창조물이다. 미술가들은 성별에 따라 사회, 문화적 관계 속에서 고유한 시선을 만들어 내기도 하는데, 여성이 미술작품의 창조적 주체인 경우 남성과는 다른 여성의 모습, 여성성이 반영된다. 이에 따라 본인 자신이 속해 있는 성(性)인 여성적인 특성이 내재되고 있다고 보고, 특히 작업 전개 과정에서 그것이 어떻게 본인만의 독자적인 감각 안으로 흡수되어 외부로 표출되고 있는가에 관한 연구를 통하여, 본인의 작품표현의 근거와 조형적 특성을 밝히고자 한다. 본인의 논문에서의 여성성의 개념은 페미니즘의 입장에서 여성의 성 정체성과 관련해서 여성의 섹슈얼리티를 부각시키고 여성의 차이를 탐색하려는 개념이기 보다는 여성의 내재된 심리적 특성과 여성적 감수성을 본연적으로 또는 무의식적으로 표현하는 개념과 장식성 추구에 대한 고찰이라고 할 수 있다. 본인은 본인 작품에 나타난 장식성 , 특히 여성적인 측면을 드러내는 표현형식으로써 장식성에 접근하려한다. 장식성은 여성적인 감각을 표현하는 수단으로서 사용함과 더불어 시각적인 아름다움의 추구라는 맥락에서 조명하고자 한다. 본 논문의 Ⅱ장에서는 첫째로 회화에서의 여성성이 어떻게 표현되는지를 연구하였다. 회화작품을 통해 나타난 여성성을 분석함에 있어, 특히 여성고유의 특성을 암시하는 대상이 방법적으로 어떻게 전개되고 있는지를 중점적으로 연구하였다. 장식본능에 의한 꾸밈욕구를 가진 여성성의 심리적 요소와 색채를 표현하는데 있어 여성만의 감성이 나타나는 여성의 색채적 특성을 통해 여성성의 근거를 고찰해 보았다. 둘째로, 여성적 특징인 장식성을 작품의 표현형식으로서 살펴봄으로서 회화에서 보이는 장식성의 개념과 특징을 알아보고, 장식성이 어떻게 표현되었는지를 회화 작품을 통해 분석하였다. 본인은 작품 전개에서 여성의 모습을 직접적으로 형상화시키기 보다는 여성성과 장식성에 관한 요소들을 바탕으로, 여성의 감정이입 사물로서 꽃과 여성적 소재를 선택하여 여성성을 나타내었다. 여성성이 꽃의 부드럽고 유연한 곡선의 미로 형상화되며, 여성의 존재를 시각적으로 더욱 뚜렷이 인식시켜주는 역할을 하는 것이 여성적 소재이다. 즉 여성이 소유하고 있거나 주변에 자리하고 있는 여성적 소재를 통해 여성성을 표현하였다. 여성성을 상징하는 부드러운 선과 화려한 색채로 화면을 장식적으로 꾸며감으로서 화면의 장식성을 극대화시켰다. 본인은 본 연구를 통하여 여성성과 장식성에 대한 이론을 정립하고 여성으로서 ‘나’의 독자적인 감각을 통하여 여성과 장식이라는 밀접한 요소들을 회화 안에서 작품화 시키는 계기를 마련하였다. 본 연구는 ‘나’라는 개별적인 감성이 ‘여성’이라는 타고난 감성에 근거한다는 전제아래 본인의 여성특유의 미적표현과 감수성이 표현된 작업들을 정리하며 돌아보는 기회가 되었다. 동시에 이론적, 방법적 연구를 해봄으로서 더 폭넓은 시각으로 작품을 바라보고 앞으로 나아갈 작업의 방향을 모색해 보고자 한다.;A work of art is a unique object made by creative self which is artist. Artists develop unique perspective of their own, and this perspective sometimes is based on gender in social and cultural context. In female artist's painting is reflected feminine characteristic that is distinguished from that of male painter's. Likewise, assuming that feminity is a trait intrinsic in myself as a female, I tried to demonstrate the characteristics of my work in technical and formative aspect by looking through how this feminity is absorbed into my sensitivity and emanated in the process of creation. Feminity in my thesis should be distinguished from feminism that demonstrates female sexuality in line with identity of females in contrast with the other gender. My focus is on psychology and sensitivity intrinsic in women that are represented in itself or unconsciously and women's inclination to decoration. I focused on decorative aspect in my work as expression of feminity. Decoration is used as means to exhibit feminity, and is viewed as pursuit of beauty in this thesis. Second chapter of this thesis is dedicated first to feminity expressed in paintings. The analysis of feminity in paintings is focused on the methodology in which objects that suggest feminity are expressed. In expressing psychology and colours of women who by instinct have decorative aspiration, I concentrated on colours used by women that reveals sensitivity peculiar to women. Second, I explained decorative aspiration as technical expression of feminity, described its conceptual background and characteristics, and analyzed how it is placed in paintings. Rather than revealing directly feminine feature in the work, I suggested feminity with decorative elements, using flower and other feminie objects to project feminine sensitivity on. Feminity finds its shape in subline and supple lines of flower, and feminine objects that women normally possess or are surrounded with remind feminine presence more clearly. Supple lines and splendid colours that represent women give maximum effect to decorative aspect of the work. I had an opportunity to set a theory on feminity and its decorative aspect and to give shape to closely linked elements such as female and decoration through my own sensitivity as a woman. This thesis was also an opportunity to look back on my works that represent female touches and sensitivity under assumption that my sensitivity as an individual is based on the innate sensitivity called feminity. At the same time, I hope to find direction for future jobs through theoretic and methodological study that will allow me wider view on arts.
