인간의 관계성을 조형화한 현대섬유표현연구

Abstract

과거 산업사회 이전의 인간은 가족, 마을공동체, 종교 등 단순하고 작은 테두리 안에서 적은 수의 타인과 관계를 맺었다. 이러한 전통적 결속은 자연스럽게 이루어지며 매우 탄탄하였으므로, 이 시대의 인간은 적은 관계 속에서도 모든 생활을 영위할 수 있었고 심리적 안정감이 있었다. 그러나 산업이 고도로 발전하면서 사회의 시스템이 조직화되고 분업화 될수록 인간은 사회를 이루는 개체로 변모하게 되었다. 따라서 필요에 의한 피상적인 관계가 증가한 반면, 끈끈하고 자연스러운 전통적 관계의 결속은 약화되었다. 타인과의 관계는 양적으로 증가했지만, 감정적 교류보다는 수단적인 성격을 가지므로 현대인들은 과거와 같은 심리적 안정감은 상실하게 되었다. 때문에 현대인들은 서로의 공통점 또는 공동의 관심사를 찾아 이를 준거로 조직을 만들고 소속됨으로써 안정감을 찾으려 한다. 이처럼 현대인들의 관계가 피상적이고 수단적인 것으로 보이나, 오히려 그렇기 때문에 타인과의 관계에서 유대감과 안정감을 찾으려 한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 필요에 의해서든 심리적 안정감을 위해서든 인간은 타인과의 관계를 끊임없이 만들어가는 한편, 이 관계를 지속하기 위해 노력한다는 점은 틀림없다. 예술은 인간 삶의 일부이며 인간 행위의 하나이므로 인간과 예술 사이에는 밀접한 상관관계가 존재할 수밖에 없다. 이러한 의미에서 ‘인간의 관계’는 예술가가 관심을 갖고 표현해 볼 가치가 있는 개념이라 여겨진다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 관계지향의 인간, 관계 속에서 온전할 수 있는 인간의 특성을 조형적으로 표현하는 것이다. 이미 여러 예술가들이 인간의 관계성을 조형화한 바 있으므로, 본 연구에서는 타학문의 여러 이론을 작품에 적용함으로써 새로운 이미지 창출을 도모하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 문헌조사를 통하여 타학문에서 밝힌 인간의 관계에 관한 이론들을 고찰하고, 또한 같은 주제를 조형화한 현대섬유예술 작품들을 살펴보면서 본 연구자의 작품과 비교하여 본다. 인간의 관계를 시각적으로 드러내는 매개체로 루프-록이라는 섬유부자재를 선택하였다. 본 연구자의 작품에서는 루프-록이 갖는 형태적인 요소 ‘연결성’이 관념적 사상인 ‘관계성’을 대변하므로 루프-록은 인간을 상징하게 된다. 루프-록을 연결해 나가면서 인간의 관계로 이루어진 조직 및 사회를 표현하여 인간의 관계, 관계 속의 인간을 시각적으로 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구자는 작품 7점을 제작하면서 루프-록의 여러 형태적 특성과 물성을 이용하여 인간의 관계성을 시각화하는데 주력하였다. 작품제작과정에 앞서 루프-록이 갖는 물성을 파악하며 여러 연결방식을 연구하고, 분산 염료를 이용한 염색실험을 진행한다. 엮는 방식에 있어서 기존의 섬유제작방법인 니팅과 새로운 기법인 행어-니팅을 이용하기도 한다. 루프-록과 다른 재료를 혼용하여 변화를 주고, 화이버 와셔를 사용한 일부 작품에는 작품제작을 위해 그린 ‘소시오그램’을 함께 제시하여 작품의 이해를 돕는다. 본 연구를 통하여 타학문의 연구내용을 고찰하는 동안 주제에 관한 새로운 시각을 가질 수 있었고 이는 제작방법에도 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이로써 다른 작가와 차별화되는 결과 또한 가능하였다. 인간의 관계성을 의미하는 소재로서 ‘연결’되는 특성을 가진 루프-록을 선택하였고 염색 및 여러 연결 방식을 통하여 작품을 제작하였다. 앞으로 루프-록의 또 다른 연결방식을 개발하는 것이 가능할 것으로 여겨진다. 한 소재 내에서 여러 표현 방법을 이끌어내고자 노력하는 한편, 형이상학적 개념의 조형적 표현을 위한 더 깊은 사고와 탐구의 의지가 필요할 것으로 보인다.;Before the society was industrialized, people formed relationship with small groups of people with simple and limited boundaries like family, community, religion in the past. These traditional unions were accomplished naturally and very solid, people in that time managed living within the smaller scale of relationship and they had psychological stability. But with highly developing industries, more systemized and specialized of system of the society, people were transformed into individuals who were of forming society. Therefore shallow relationships were on the rise and union of heartfelt and natural traditional relationships were weakened. Relationship among people increased in quantity, but because it has tendency of being a resource instead of emotional interchange, modern people lost psychological stabilities they had in the past. Therefore modern people are looking for common interest in each other and use these facts as base and by forming an organization and belong in that organization, they are trying to find stabilities. This might look as if relationships of modern people are shallow and way of resource but because of that they are trying to find connectedness and stabilities. It is clear that whether for the way of resource or for psychological stabilities, people form relationships endlessly and put effort to maintain them. Art is part of life of human and one of the human doings therefore it is evident that there is intimate relationship exist in between human and art. Such means it is a concept worth for artist to have interest in 'relationship of human' and express it. And object of this research is relationship intention of human, express the characteristics of human in model way who can be sound in relationships. Already many artist have modeled relationships of human, so various theories from other studies were applied to this research to promote new image creation. Therefore in this research through examining of literature, inquire theories announced by other studies, also observe modern textile art work modeled same subject and compare with my work. To carry out relationship of human visually fiber subsidiary material called Loop-lock was chosen. In my work structural element in loop-lock which is nature of 'link' speaks for abstract aspect of nature in 'relation', loop-lock represents human. By linking loop-lock, express the system accomplished by relation of human and society, and willing to visually present relation of human and human in the relation. While I was producing 7 pieces of work, I was emphasized in visualize linking nature of relation of human by utilizing various form of characteristics and property of matter of loop-lock. Prior to producing work process, understand property of matter and study various connection method and proceed dye experiment using disperse dye. In connection method, knitting which is existing textile producing method and hanger-knitting which is new technique are used. By combining loop-lock and other ingredients give diversity and in some of work used fiber washer 'sociogram' which was drawn for work producing will be presented along to help understand the work. Through this research while inquiring other studies I found new vision and it effect producing method and it became possible to result in differentiate from other artist as well. Loop-lock was chosen for subject for its characteristics on 'connection' which possesses meaning of relation of human and the work was produced by dyeing and various connecting method. It might be possible to develop new connecting method for loop lock in the future. Putting in effort to bring out various expressing method from one subject is in place but it needs will to explore and deeper thoughts to express modeling expression of metaphysical concept.
