나선의 이미지를 통한 도자조형 연구

Abstract

우주의 운동에서 원자의 활동에 이르기까지 자연의 모든 요소들은 끊임없이 살아 움직이며 영원한 상호관계의 흐름 속에 있다. 이것은 점차 강하게 또는 약하게 강조되는 동적인 나선의 연속된 흐름으로 상징 될 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 자연물과 자연의 유기적 체계 안에서 생명력이 잠재되어 있는 나선의 조형적 특징을 파악하여 자연의 생명 현상이 보여주는 생명력, 운동감, 무한성을 나선의 면과 선의 질서를 통해 도자조형으로 표현하는 것이다. 연구의 내용은 이론적 배경으로서 자연에 대해 풍부한 감정과 동적인 형태를 유발하는 나선의 형태적 특징과 조형예술에 나타난 나선을 문헌을 통하여 조사하고 나선의 이미지를 표현한 예술작품을 살펴보았다. 그리고 이를 토대로 파악된 특성에 근거하여 10점의 작품을 제작하였다. 조형과정에서는 자연의 유기적인 선에 의해 생기는 나선과 곡선의 반복적인 움직임으로 이루어지는 기하학적인 나선의 시각적 질서를 연구자 주관적 감성에 의해서 부분변형, 결합, 분해하여 재구성하였고 부드러운 느낌을 살리면서 동시에 생명력, 운동감, 무한성을 표현하고자 하였다. 작품의 제작은 형태의 특성에 맞도록 자기질 점토와 석기질 점토, 안료를 착색한 점토를 사용하여 코일링 성형과 판 성형, 물레성형, 석고틀을 이용한 가압성형 기법을 복합적으로 사용하여 형태를 만들고 자연스럽게 변형 시켜주었다. 유약은 여러 번의 실험을 통해 얻어낸 결과물 중 14가지를 이용하여 붓이나 스펀지를 이용하여 시유하거나 담금 기법 후 스프레이 건으로 분사해 주어 서로 유약이 겹치는 부분에서 색의 변화를 시도하였다. 소성은 1.5㎥ 가스가마에서 900℃를 마침온도로 8시간동안 1차 소성하고 1270℃의 마침온도에서 9시간동안 산화염 소성<작품 1,2,4,7,9,10>과 환원염 소성<작품3,5,6,8> 하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통하여 나선의 생명력과 운동감, 무한성을 표현하는 도자조형을 제작하고 조형예술 표현 요소로서의 나선이 갖는 다양하고 광범위한 무한 표현 가능성에 대해 알게 되었고 대상을 보는 조형적 시각을 갖게 되는 밑바탕이 되었다. 본 연구를 토대로 주변의 많은 자연의 소재들을 표면에 드러낸 가시적인 형태의 표현에서 나아가 그 안에 내재되어 있는 의미를 새롭게 인식하여 좀 더 자유로운 조형성의 표현으로 이끌어 갈 수 있기를 기대해 본다.;Everything in nature has a reciprocal relationship with one another, whether it is the cosmic movement or atomic operation. This can also be symbolic for the spiral which gradually accelerates and reduces in speed. The study concentrates on nature and organic mechanisms within it by endeavoring to include life in the spiral for a formative expression in ceramics. With the spiral this research has attempted to incorporate life, movement and infinite source of inspiration provided by the formative qualities of the spiral - planes and lines - by studying the discipline within this subject. Background research was conducted on the spiral form by studying the works of other artists using this particular subject as an art expression. With the researched materials the study focused on making 10 pieces of ceramic works. Different making skills in ceramics such as coiling, slab-building, press-molding and slip-casting have been repeatedly incorporated in relation to the required effect of the work. The same applies to the choice of clay bodies. They were selected with reference to formation ranging from porcelain to stoneware clays. Overall, the works project a natural transformation represented with the artist's expressive intention. Some of the works were made by using colored clay, where color stains were mixed into the clay body. The work was glazed with 14 different types, some have been brushed, sprayed and sponged. Different glazes were combined to create an interesting effect. The primary bisque firing was conducted in a 1.5㎥ gas kiln. The temperature for this reached 900℃ and the bisque firing prolonged for 8 hours. The glaze firings were conducted both in oxidation, <Works 1,2,4,7,9,10>, and also in reduction, <Works 3,5,6,8>, reaching a temperature of 1270℃. The glaze firing took approximately 9 hours. The study has shown that the movement and infinite inspirational source of the spiral has been most appropriate for making the ceramic expressions for this study. Through the study ceramic works attempted to present the diversity found in the spiral form. It is both important to make formative creation and also to include the inner psychology expressions of the person making the work. Consequently the work becomes more liberal and interesting.
