생명력의 근원으로서의 대지(大地)표현

Abstract

자연은 모든 예술의 근원으로 인간은 끊임없이 움직이며 변화하는 자연을 주관적으로 재해석하여 표현해왔다. 대지는 자연의 일부인 동시에 자연물의 생성과 소멸의 공간이다. 이처럼 대지는 자연물의 존재성을 내포한 모성애적 본능을 함축한 것으로 자연의 근원적 생명력을 의미한다. 본 연구는 자연의 생명력의 근원인 대지를 자수 작품의 구체적 표현대상으로 삼아, 이를 연구자의 주관적 시각으로 재해석하여 자수표현을 통한 표현대상의 창의적인 접근방식의 변화를 연구하는데 목적을 두고 작품을 제작하여 분석하였다. 이론적 배경으로는 첫째, 대지의 의미를 알아보고 다양한 의미를 통하여 재해석된 대지를 연구, 분석하여 생명력의 근원으로서 대지가 가지는 상징적 의미를 찾아보고자 한다. 둘째, 대지가 가지는 상징적 의미 중 인간의 생명적 존재를 상징하는 모성으로서의 대지의 의미를 자연의 생명력과 생명의 근원으로서의 대지의 모습을 통하여 살펴보았다. 셋째, 현대미술과 섬유예술에서 주관적 조형언어로 재창조하여 대지의 이미지를 표현한 작가들의 작품들을 비교, 분석하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 생명의 근원을 상징하는 모성애를 표현한 대지의 표현을 중심으로 색채의 변화와 중첩된 곡선의 흐름을 통해 주관적 의도로 재해석하였다. 작품의 표현재료는 대지의 질감을 효과적으로 표현 할 수 있는 표면에 불규칙한 짜임이 있는 캔버스지, 여러 가지 색상의 견사, 재봉사를 사용하여 대지의 생명력을 표현하고자 하였다. 자수기법으로는 대지의 질감표현을 위해서 평수, 쌀알수, 징금수, 매듭수, 점수를 응용하였고 바탕화면 위에 기계자수를 사용하였다. 또한 대지의 공간을 입체적으로 표현하기 위하여 견사의 다양한 굵기와 꼬임의 변화를 준 깔깔사를 부분적으로 사용하여 생명력의 근원인 대지를 생동감 있게 표현하고자 하였다. 대지의 근원적 생명력을 표현한 자수 작품을 제작하고 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 바탕화면 위에 여러 가지 색상의 재봉사로 곡선을 중첩시켜 기계자수를 사용함으로써 생명력의 근원인 대지의 공간적인 깊이감이 보다 풍부하게 느껴지도록 수의 밀도조절과 색감의 차이를 통하여 표현할 수 있었다. 둘째, 여러 종류의 색상과 굵기로 구성 된 견사를 사용하여 평수, 쌀알수, 징금수, 매듭수, 점수를 응용한 자수기법과 과장, 생략, 응집, 분산의 화면구성 및 푼사의 꼬임, 굵기의 변화를 준 깔깔사를 사용하여 수를 놓아줌으로써 대지의 생명의 순환과 생동감을 효과적으로 나타낼 수 있었다. 셋째, 본 연구자의 주관적인 경험과 심상을 통해 재창조된 상징적 의미는 생명의 근원을 상징하는 모성적 관점에서 대지의 생명력을 표현할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 연구를 바탕으로 생명력의 근원인 대지를 자수로 표현함으로써 본 연구자의 주관적 심상에 의해 재해석된 표현대상의 창의적 접근방식이 지속적으로 확대 진행되어야 할 것이다.;Nature is the source of all arts, and humans have continuously re-interpreted the ever changing nature subjectively and expressed it. Earth is both the part of nature and at the same time, the space for natural lives to be born and to vanish. As it is, the nature is an implicit form of maternal affection of existence of natural lives and means force of life in all nature. This study have set earth which is the source of life force as an actual expression object of embroidery works, and by re-interpreting it from the researchers subjective point of view, have produced and analyzed the work from surveying in a creative point of view. Theoretical background is first, to look up upon the meanings of earth, and studying re-interpreted earth in a various point of view, and to look up for symbolic meanings of life which the earth provides. Second, from symbolic meanings which the earth holds, by observing the earth as a meaning of maternal affection, have indicated earth as a source of natural life force and the foundation of life itself. Third, by recreating it from modern arts and fabric arts point of view, have compared and analyzed the image of earth to other artists' works. In terms of work production, from the expression of earth which is the symbol of life source in a maternal affection, subjective interpretation upon change of colors and reiterated curves were performed. The expressing materials of the works are canvas of which the surface is uneven that can express solidness of the earth effectively, and various colored yarns to express life of earth. In case of embroidery method, to express solidness of earth, normal stitch, seed stitch, couching stitch, french nut stitch and used machinery stitch upon the temperament. Also, to express space of earth solidly, partial use of interwoven yarns were used to express the liveliness of earth which is the source of nature. Following conclusions were obtained from producing analyzing embroidery works which expresses source and life of earth. First, by using machinery stitch by reiterating curves and using various colored yarns, more abundant spacial depth was expressable from controling density and colors. Second, by using various colors and thickness yarns and embroidery methods such as normal stitch, seed stitch, couching stitch, french nut stitch, and interwoven yarns with various effects such as exaggeration, cohesion, dispersion and omission, an effective expression of earth itself was possible. Third, from subjective experience of the researcher, the symbolic meanings of the recreated area was able to express life of earth which stands for maternal affection. Based upon this study, a continuous and creative approach method from the subjective point of view of artists in expressing earth which is the source of all natural lives must be performed.
