섬유조형 표현에 의한 자아 정체성 연구

Abstract

' 나는 누구인가?', '나는 무엇이 되고 싶은가?' 등의 자아 정체성(自我正體性)과 관련된 물음에 대한 답을 찾는 일은 인간에게 주어진 매우 중요한 삶의 과제이다. 자아 정체성을 형성한다는 것은, 생물적·동물적 존재로서의 인간이 자신을 타인과 구별되는 존재로 파악하고, 자기 자신을 자신이 속한 가정, 사회, 국가의 한 구성원으로서 인식하는 것이다. 그리고 더 나아가 그 구성원에게 부여되는 사회적·도덕적 책임을 수용하여, 자신의 존재 가치와 생존의 의미를 발견하는 것을 뜻한다. 이렇게 자아 정체성을 확립함으로써, 개인은 자신의 과거, 현재, 미래를 안정되게 통합하며, 타인과의 친밀성을 추구하는 가운데 자신의 가치와 목표를 이루기 위해 헌신하려는 태도를 갖게 된다. 본 연구자 역시 자신의 정체성을 찾기 위해 많은 노력을 하고 있으며, 이번 연구를 통해 자기 자신을 성찰하는 시간을 갖고, 자아 정체성의 회복으로 내적 성숙과 미래에 대한 진지함을 모색하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 에릭슨(Erikson, E.)의 자아 정체성 이론을 문헌을 통해 고찰하고, 자아 정체성 형성의 접근 방법으로 듀이(Dewey, John.)의 반성적 사고과정을 살펴본다. 그리고 반성적 사고과정의 구체적인 방법으로 일기를 도입한다. 일상적 기록에 의한 반성적 사고의 표현은 인간의 외적인 행동과 내적인 정신작용에 영향을 미치며 이는 자아 정체성 형성에 영향을 주는 적합한 접근 방법임을 입증한다. 또한 자아 정체성을 나타내는 본인만의 언어화, 의미화된 표현을 살펴본다. 여기서 언어화와 의미화는 시, 공간을 하나의 이미지로 바꾸어 나타내는 것을 말하고 나아가 개념화, 추상화되면서 조형적인 미를 보여 준다. 첫째, '사람' 형태의 이미지를 언어적 도구로 사용한다. '사람' 형태의 이미지들은 자아 형성에 영향을 주는 수많은 '타인' 들을 의미한다. 둘째, '입는 다' 의 사전적 의미를 분석하고 의미화 한다. 자아를 구축하기 위해서는 끊임없는 '정체성의 옷'을 갈아입어야 한다는 의미를 드러내고자 한다. 이와 같이 주관적인 심리를 객관적인 형태로 전환시키는 조형예술 표현을 통해 자신에 대한 성찰과 자아 정체성에 대한 구체적인 접근을 시도한다. 본 연구자가 제작한 작품 8점은 일기를 통한 과거의 기억, 현재의 경험, 미래의 기대를 '입는 것'에 의해서 표현하여 자아 성찰과 정체성 형성의 기회를 마련하고자 하였다. 타인과의 상호 관계를 의미하는 '사람' 형태의 이미지들의 가장자리를 향으로 태움으로서, 태우는 시간동안에 자기수양의 과정을 거쳐 타인과의 관계를 재정립하는 내적 성찰의 시간을 갖고자 하였다. 본 연구는 자아 성찰의 과정을 섬유예술의 조형 활동으로 표현하고자 하였고 또한 본 연구과정을 통해 개인적인 성찰과정을 거쳐 자아 정체성을 확립하고자 하였다.;Truthfully, it is a lifework for every human being to seek after "the self." This work presents fiber art inspired byself-examination, mental discipline, and planning the future by characterizing "self-existence." Living a life all by yourself, you would face the chance to answer your own question: Who am I? Every moment in your life, you build up the character of your "self." The character of self is how you feel about yourselfand how much you mean to other people. The fundamental notion is that men are formed as an independently living animal. However, each human being is also a member of the society where he or she is attached to.In addition, each member has rights and duties to her society. Ultimately, a man's worth is determined by his or her interaction with the society. Thus, to build up the character of self actually stands for finding a reason to live. A well-established character of self-existence not only helps an individual face up to the future but also reflect on the past and the present. This work has Erickson's theory of human development under consideration, includes John Dew's instrumentalism and utilizes a personal diary as a practical method to materialize fiber expression. Furthermore, expression which identifies personal character is carefully examined: Language and Image. First, the image of human represents "other people" who have an effect on self-examination. Second, emphasized on lexical meaning, the word "to wear" is analyzed and applied to make work pieces. The formative arts enable to change subjective matter into objective "shape."This work approaches self-examination and self-characterization. The 8 work pieces presented here is a metaphor of the past, present and future. Each different clothes refers to innermost feeling and real intention. What is more, human-shaped pieces of paper express the socio-cultural relationship with other community members. Scorching the edge of human-shaped paper is one of the most important procedures since burning metaphorically represents self-examination.
