다이어트의 주관적 해석으로서 섬유조형연구

Abstract

예술작품은 감각과 상상력을 통해 창조되는 작가의 자기표현이다. 그것이 표현하는 내용은 예술가의 느낌을 표현한 것이기 때문에 상상적이고 주관적이며, 그가 속한 시간과 공간 속에 영향을 받는다. 예술가에게 있어 체험은 작업의 중요한 동기가 된다. 즉, 일상에서 불분명하게 경험되는 자연의 미, 인체의 미, 아름다운 색의 형태 등에 대한 강렬한 인상은 예술가의 감각과 표현하고자 하는 의도와 더불어 작품으로 표현 된다. 그러므로 새로운 시각으로 일상의 사물을 바라볼 때 예술가는 예기치 못한 경이로움을 마주하게 되며, 그것을 통하여 사물의 이면을 예술로 승화시킬 수 있는 것이다. 그리고 현대 미술은 조형개념의 다변화에 따라서 새로운 재료와 기법으로 작가의 내면적 자아표현의 길을 자유롭게 하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 오늘날의 미술은 더욱 더 주관주의로 발전했으며 작가의 주관적인 감정과 의도 표현을 중요시 하는 경향을 보인다. 그렇다하여 지나친 주관주의에 치우쳐 감상자를 무시한 작가만의 세계에 한정되는 예술을 말하는 것은 아니다. 주관주의는 작가의 개성을 중요시하는 만큼 ‘나(자신)’를 표현하는데 있어 뒷받침 되는 사조라 본다. 또한, 섬유예술은 다른 시각미술과는 달리 실험정신으로서 효과적으로 재료를 다루어야 하는 복합적인 요소가 강하다. 섬유예술은 섬유라는 재료뿐만 아니라 그 예술적 표현을 위해 온갖 부수적인 재료들을 사용하고 있는 창작활동이라 하겠는데, 이는 그것이 이미 매체의 특성에 따라 기술형식의 범주를 넘어선 인간의 상상력이 지니는 미적 능력과 결부된 창의성의 범주에서 이루어지고 있음을 말해준다. 조형세계가 시대적 요청에 의해 현대적 시각으로 바뀐 이상 현대적 표현방식으로 인한 생산과정과 가치체계의 이해는 필수적이며, 나아가 조형의 확대와 소재의 다양한 표현 방법의 확장에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 일상적 삶의 체험 속에서 얻어지는 경험적 이미지를 섬유소재를 조형화함으로써 새로운 느낌과 이미지로 환기시키고자 하는데 있다. 작품 주제로는 요즘 사회의 트랜드(Trend)로 각광받는 ‘다이어트’에 주목하게 되었다. 본 연구자는 보편적으로 정의된 개념들, 객관적인 사실들에 대한 주관적인 해석과, 그에 따른 이미지의 형상화 과정을 통해 본 연구자의 의도를 함축적이며 상징적으로 표현하고자 한다. 작품제작은 다이어트 일기와 프로그램을 토대로 7일간의 이야기를 풀어내고자 한다. 그 방법으로서 현실의 재현이 아닌 상상력을 통하여 주관적 이미지를 형상화하는데 초점을 두었으며 본 연구자의 체험을 기반으로 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구는 사회적 문제점을 해결하려는 것이 아니라 문제점을 작업의 주제로 삼고, 본 연구자의 자유로운 생각을 작품에 표현하여, 섬유예술에 있어서 관심과 사회문제를 새롭게 환기시키는데 의의(意義)를 두었다. 본 연구자는 이번 연구에서 섬유조형으로써의 표현에 다이어트라는 주관적 이미지를 표현함으로써 표현의 가능성을 모색해 보고자 하였다.;Art works are artist's self-expressions created with their senses and imaginations. The contents expressed are equated with artists' feeling, so they are imaginative and subjective, being affected by time and space they belong to. To artists, experiences are important motives for their works. Namely, intensive impressions about beautiful nature and human body as well as beautiful color tones experienced vaguely in every-day life are combined with artists' senses to be produced into art works according to their intentions. Artists will face unexpected wonders whenever they watch every-day objects from a new viewpoint, and thus, proceed to sublime the objects into arts. Modern fine art tends to express internal egos freely by using new materials and techniques as concepts of form are diversified. Today' fine art has developed into more subjective arts, emphasizing artists' subjective emotions and intentions. However, the fine art community is not dominated by those artists who are too biased towards their subjectivity, neglecting the audience. Subjectivism puts emphasis on artists' personality, so it may well be a current supporting expressions of 'ego'. On the other hand, textile arts are characterized by the complexity involving effective handling of materials with an experimental spirit, unlike other visual arts. Textile arts may be a creative activity requiring not only the material 'textile' but also various auxiliary materials for artistic expressions, and therefore, textile art works are produced depending on characteristics of media within the category of creativity associated with human imagination and aesthetics just beyond the category of technical forms. As the world of forms has changed into an visual one according to the request of our time, it is essential to understand the production processes and value system of modern expressions, and furthermore, understand the expanding forms and diversifying expressions. The purpose of this study was to express the images experienced in the ordinary life into forms by using the material 'textile' and thereby, evoke new feeling and images. The theme of works was set as 'diet' being highlighted as a social trend. For this purpose, the researcher wanted to express the universal concepts and the subjective interpretations of objective facts into connotative and symbolic forms by formalizing the images. The work was designed to unfold a 7-day-long story based on diet diary and program, and to this end, emphasis was put on formalization of the subject images through imagination, not reproduction of reality as well as researcher's personal experiences. This study may well be significant in that it did not solve some social problems but set them as theme of work and thereby, expressed researcher's liberal thoughts to evoke a social concern about the textile arts. In particular, the researcher explored the possibility of expressions by means of the subjective image 'diet' for textile forms.
