일상사물에 내재된 흔적 표현

Abstract

일상의 사물은 끊임없이 인간의 지각을 자극함으로 삶에 영향을 끼치고, 또 구성해가는 요소이다. 지각의 원천인 일상에 존재하는 사물은 인간의 삶에 흔적을 남기고, 그 사물에도 사용하는 사람의 흔적이 남는다. 본 논문에서는 현재인 동시에 과거가 되는, 눈에 보이지 않는 삶의 기억이나 추억을 흔적으로 명시하며, 일상 환경 속의 사물에 내재된 비가시적인 흔적을 형상화하는 과정을 통해 일상성의 가치를 표현하고자 한다. 따라서 일상에서 접하는 실재적인 매개물을 선택하고 그 사물에 심의를 투사하여 흔적을 표현한 작품의 이론적인 근거를 밝히고 표현 기법을 연구함으로 본인의 작품을 분석하고자 하였다. 작품에서 나타내고자 하는 것은 시각에 따라 변하는 대량생산된 사물의 외관이 아니라 사물을 지각하고 개념적으로 사유하여 얻어지는 사물의 영원한 본질이다. 진리를 담는 도구로써 재생산하기위해 그 사물의 형태를 빌려온 것이다. 이에 본 논문의 이론적 배경에서는 눈에 보이지 않는 형이상학적인 면에 대한 관심을 서술하고 흔적이 내재된 사물을 등장시킴으로 관람자의 기억이미지를 자극하는 흔적의 심리적인 힘에 대해 연구하였다. 본인의 작품에서 여백은 형태로 표현할 수 없는 향기나 온기와 같은 흔적이 내재되어 상상의 여지와 무한한 가능성의 여운을 담고 있는 공간으로 활용된다. 사물의 특성을 요약해서 함축적인 선묘로 표현하고, 지점토로 제작된 화면을 통해 가능하게 된 새기는 선묘로 인해 선의 존재감을 극대화한 점이 특징적이다. 기법적인 면에서는 지점토의 재료적 특성을 활용하여 풍부한 질감을 통한 여백의 회화적인 표현과 새김에 의한 독창적인 선묘를 가능하게 하였다. 또한 이중섭의 은지화에서 나타나는 기법과 도자기의 상감법을 참고하여 표현 기법을 연구하였다. 본 논문을 통해 동양 그림의 정신이 본인의 생각과 기법의 바탕이 된 것을 알았고, 이것을 현대적 미감으로 계승하고 발전 시켜야할 책임을 깨달았다. 또한 사소한 일상에 대한 주의를 환기하여 평범한 것에서 독특한 미감과 의미를 찾았으며, 일상의 소중한 가치를 기록하고 표현하기 위한 기법과 표현상의 문제점을 깨닫고 그 한계를 넘어 보다 발전적인 방향을 모색해야 하는 과제를 발견하였다.;Ordinary objects influences and forms ordinary life by constantly stimulating people's perception. Objects from the ordinary life are sources of perception. They leave trace in people's lives, and people leave their trace in these objects as well. In this thesis, traces are memories of life that are at once past and present; the value of the ordinary is described through the process of giving form to invisible traces that are immanent in ordinary objects. Therefore, in order to analyze my own work, I explained theoretical background of artists who chose objects from the ordinary life and expressed the traces by projecting their intentions in these objects. I wanted to express not the appearance of mass-produced objects but the eternal essence of the objects that is obtained through perception and conceptual thinking. The appearance of objects are just borrowed to be reproduced as media to carry the truth. Therefore, my interest in metaphysical aspect is described in the theoretical background of the thesis. Then, potential of psychological perception in recognizing life's trace through objects is explained. In this work, space has the potential to carry imagination and infinite possibilities because it contains traces such as fragrance and warmth that cannot be captured in forms. Characteristics of objects are summarized into lines, and these lines are carved on clay, maximizing the existence of lines. On technical side, clay was fully used as rich material for descriptive expression of space and original line drawing by carving. In addition, technique of Jung-Seob Lee in his silver paper drawing as well as inlaid techniques on ceramics were studied. As a result, this thesis shows that my ideas and techniques are grounded on the spirit of Asian painting, and is concluded with the responsibility to inherit this spirit and develop it for the contemporary art. It allowed me to discover original beauty and meaning out of ordinary items by bringing up attention to ordinary life. I also understood my mission to realize the limits and find future direction of techniques and expressions to record and describe the value of the ordinary life.
