아동이 지각한 부모의 역기능적 의사소통과 아동의 스트레스 및 사회적 적응

Abstract

이 연구는 아동이 지각한 역기능적 의사소통 및 스트레스와 사회적 적응과의 관계를 파악하고 역기능적 의사소통이 아동의 스트레스와 사회적 적응에 미치는 영향력이 어떠한지 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 서울시에 소재한 초등학교 4학년, 6학년 아동으로 남학생 182명, 여학생 177명, 총 359명이었다. 아동이 지각한 역기능적 의사소통을 측정하기 위하여 Satir의 이론 중 역기능적인 의사소통의 유형을 주축으로 한국적 상황을 감안, 종합하여 제작한 김경화(1989)의 측정도구를 사용하였다. 아동의 스트레스를 측정하기 위하여 한미현(1996)이 개발한 측정도구를 수정하여 사용하였으며, 사회적 적응을 측정하기 위하여 윤서영(1999)의 측정도구를 사용하였다. 자료의 분석을 위하여 각 측정도구의 신뢰도를 검증하고, 각 변수들에 성별과 연령에 따른 차이가 있는지를 알아보기 위하여 t-검증을 실시하였다. 각 변수들간의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 역기능적 의사소통, 스트레스, 사회적 적응에 대한 상관분석을 실시하였고, 역기능적 의사소통이 스트레스와 사회적 적응에 미치는 영향력을 알아보기 위하여 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 역기능적 의사소통은 성별에 따른 유의한 차이를 보였고, 연령에 따른 유의한 차이는 없었다. 스트레스와 사회적 적응은 성별, 연령 모두 유의한 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 역기능적 의사소통과 아동의 스트레스 및 사회적 적응 각 변수들간에 상호 관련성이 나타났다. 역기능적 의사소통과 아동의 스트레스는 정적상관을 보였다. 역기능적 의사소통을 높게 지각하는 아동은 스트레스를 많이 받는다. 또한 역기능적 의사소통과 사회적 적응은 부적상관을 보였다. 아동이 역기능적 의사소통을 높게 지각할수록 사회적 적응에 어려움을 겪는다. 아동의 스트레스와 사회적 적응은 부적관계에 있어, 스트레스를 많이 받는 아동은 사회적 적응을 잘 하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 아동이 지각한 역기능적 의사소통은 아동의 스트레스와 사회적 적응에 부정적인 영향을 미치며, 특히 비난형 의사소통이 아동의 스트레스와 사회적 적응을 잘 예측하는 변수로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과에서 아동이 지각한 역기능적 의사소통이 아동의 스트레스와 사회적 적응에 부정적인 영향을 미치므로, 가정 내에서 부모-자녀간에 이루어지는 역기능적 의사소통유형을 지양해야 할 필요가 있다는 점과 아동의 스트레스와 사회적 적응에 부모의 역할이 크다는 점을 밝혀냈다는 데 의의를 가진다. 이후 부모-자녀간에 역기능적 의사소통을 지양하고 건전한 의사소통이 이루어지도록 유도하는데 기여할 것을 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships and the effects between parent's dysfunctional communication style, their child's stress and social adjustment. The subjects are 359 students of 11-to 13-year-old children in Seoul. Statistical analyses of the data are Pearson's correlation analysis, t-test, multiple Regression and stepwise Regression. Cronbach' s alpha was computer for the reliability of the scales. The major results of this study are as follows: First, there are significantly differences in parent's dysfunctional communication style according to sex of child. However, there are no significantly differences in parent's dysfunctional communication style according to age of child. There are no significantly differences in stress and social adjustment according to sex and age of child. Second, there are correlations among the parent's dysfunctional communication style, child's stress and social adjustment. Parent's dysfunctional communication style is positively related to child's stress and negatively related to child's social adjustment. Child's stress is negatively related to child's social adjustment. Lastly, the results of multiple regression indicate that parents dysfunctional communication style level is negatively affect to child's stress and social adjustment. Blaming communication style is the most important variable in predicting child's stress and social adjustment. The results of this study imply that parent play an important role to child's stress and social adjustment. Also, this study has a significant meaning in that it can improve understanding and help parent's communication with their child and positive effect.
