시간성을 담은 일상적 행동 표현

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review 'overlapping' as a method to express the repetition of every-day life. Every-day life is a universal and important channel through which 'reality can be read' and 'the world can be understood'. In addition, if we want to 'know about some object', we need to approach its routine first of all. There is nobody that does not live an every-day life, and numerous elements forming us are contained in the repeated every-day life. The researcher has long been concerned about such an every-day life, and thus, this study attempts to know about an object through its every-day behaviors, being focused on the repeated every-day behaviors. For such a repetition characterizes the every-day life most importantly, and therefore, our life is formed into what it is. Then, we need to think about the methods for development of repeated and characteristic behaviors of objects. This study endeavors to learn about the attitudes towards objects through experiences by researching into the perspective used by the traditional paintings, and thereby, approach the objects with such an attitude. For we can precisely discover the repetitive and characteristic behaviors of an object only through experiences. Methodologically, the researcher selected 'overlapping' to contain the repeated every-day life on the canvas. 'Overlapping' is an effect produced when another unit is partially or wholly imposed on one unit. When the object overlapped is given transparency, we can express its movements existing in the flowing time simultaneously. Namely, we can contain time and movements within the canvas and render a feeling of continued movements. On the other hand, the researcher attempted to review the visual movements created by 'overlapping' as well as the visual functions to explore a way to maximize the visual movements. When an object remains in the visual sense, the audience will concentrate on the objects depicted by a painting and thus, will understand them. In other words, just as a painter knows about an object in a long time and through experiences, so the audience will remain in the objects, concentrating on them. Furthermore, the researcher attempted to understand how the movements were expressed statically and therethrough, such expressions were confirmed to be similar to researcher's work. In addition, in terms of methods, specific applications of 'overlapping' were discussed, while the methods of rendering a sense of depth and lingering effects were explored through omissions and hado. Lastly, the researcher reviewed how 'overlapping' expressed the repeated every-day life appropriately by analyzing researcher's work.;본 연구자는 본 연구를 통해 일상의 반복성을 표현하기 위한 방법으로 중첩에 대해 연구하였다. 일상은 ‘현실을 읽는 것’이고 ‘세계를 이해하는’ 보편적이며 중요한 통로이다. 또한 ‘어떠한 대상을 알기’ 위해서도 우선적으로 그 대상의 일상에 접근해야할 것이다. 어느 누구도 일상생활을 영위하지 않는 사람은 없고 우리를 둘러싸고 매일 되풀이되는 일상 안에 우리를 우리의 모습으로 만들어 주는 수많은 요소들이 담겨져 있기 때문이다. 이러한 일상의 특성에 관심을 갖게 되었고 본 연구에서도 대상의 일상적 행동을 통해 그 대상을 알아가려 한다. 또한 일상적 행동 중, 특히 반복되는 행동들에 초점을 맞추어 보았다. 왜냐하면 그 반복성이야말로 일상의 가장 큰 특징이며 반복으로 말미암아 우리의 삶이 지금의 모습으로 형성되기 때문이다. 그렇다면 대상의 반복적이고 특징적인 행동들을 발견하기 위한 방법에 대해 생각해 보아야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 우리 옛 그림의 산점투시의 방법을 연구함으로 경험을 통해 대상을 알아가는 태도를 배우게 되었고 이러한 태도로 대상에게 접근하고자 하였다. 경험을 통해서만 어떠한 대상의 반복적이고 특징적인 행동들을 정확히 발견해 낼 수 있기 때문이다. 방법적으로는 일상적 행동의 반복성을 화면에 담아내기 위해 중첩을 선택하였다. 중첩은 한 단위 위에 또 다른 단위가 부분적으로나 완전하게 겹쳐질 때 생기는 효과를 말한다. 또한 중첩 되는 대상에 투명성을 부여할 때 시간의 흐름 속에 존재하는 대상의 움직임을 동시에 표현할 수 있다. 즉 화면 안에 시간과 움직임을 담을 수 있게 되며 동작이 계속되는 듯한 느낌을 줄 수 있다. 그리고 중첩으로 인해 보는 이로 하여금 시각의 움직임을 야기 시킬 수 있는데 시각의 기능을 연구함으로 시각의 움직임을 극대화 시킬 수 있는 방법을 모색하였다. 시각을 머물게 함으로써 보는 이가 그림 속 대상에게 집중하게 되며 대상을 알 수 있도록 도울 수 있기 때문이다. 즉 그리는 사람이 오랜 시간과 경험을 통해 그 대상을 알아가듯 보는 이 또한 그림 속 대상에게 머물게 되며 집중하게 되는 것이다. 또한 미래파를 통해 정적인 수단으로 어떻게 움직임을 표현했는지 알아보았으며 그것을 통해 본 작업과의 유사점을 확인하였다. 아울러 방법적 연구에서는 중첩을 구체적으로 어떻게 적용했는지 설명하였으며 생략과 하도 이용을 통해 깊이감과 여운을 남기는 방법을 모색해 보았다. 마지막으로 본인의 작품 분석을 통하여 중첩이라는 표현 방법이 일상의 반복성을 적절히 표현했는지 살펴보았다.
