생활공간의 표현

Abstract

일상적 생활 공간에서 만나는 여러 가지 사물의 현실적 형상과 그것이 놓여진 환경 안에서 다양하게 변화하고 순환하는 자연의 유기적인 이미지를 발견해 낼 수 있다. 햇살에 반사되어 유리창에 비친 안 밖의 여러 풍경들은 하나의 장면으로 겹쳐져 보이고, 해가 뜨고 지는 상황에 따라 시시각각 달라지는 그림자에 의해 사물의 공간들이 변화된다. 도심 속에서 바람에 흔들리는 나뭇가지에 의해 건물이나 아파트의 형태는 변형되어 보이고, 물에 비치는 도시의 밤 풍경은 복잡하고 다양한 형태를 만들어 내기도 한다. 이러한 자연의 유기적 현상에 대해 반응하고 관계하는 각각의 사물은 변형되어 새로운 이미지를 창조하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 도시나 생활공간 속에 내재되어 있는 기하학적 질서에 대한 관심과 자연에서 보여지는 생명현상의 유기적 이미지를 융합하는 문제를 주된 조형상의 추구점으로 한다. 이렇게 발견 되는 이미지의 추구에 있어서 자연의 추상적 이미지와 기물의 기존하는 이미지를 선택 재결합하여 서정적인 환경공간을 형성하는 것에 의미가 있다. 일상 생활 환경 속의 건축물들, 기계나 가구 등 사물의 이미지와 生成, 消滅하고 變化하는 자연의 이미지를 결합하여 하나의 장면으로 재구성하고 다시 공간을 점유하는 새로운 기물로 표현하는 것이다. 결과적으로 생활 공간의 크고 작은 가구들, 문, 창문 또는 창문의 창살 등의 형태는 자연 현상들과 어우러져 변화되고 중첩되어 새로운 이미지로 재결합하게 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 자연 현상에 반응하여 변형되는 사물의 표현으로서 일상적인 사물의 기하학적 형상과 자연적 이미지를 결합하여 서정적인 생활 공간을 표현하는 데 있다. 본 연구의 기본 도구는 문헌조사와 작품표현 및 작품분석을 병행하였다. 표현 대상은 인간을 둘러싸고 있는 실제 환경으로써 사물, 오브제등의 인공적인 공간과 자연의 결합이다. 표현 방법은 사물의 구조적인 기하구성과 자연의 서정적 이미지를 직관적으로 변형하고 조합시키는 방법으로 목판과 여러 가지 오브제를 결합하여 생활 공간의 자연적 이미지를 획득하도록 한다. 이를 바탕으로 제작한 작품 7점의 결과는 다음과 같다. 재료에 있어서는 자연의 생명력을 지닌 따뜻한 소재인 원목과 인공물로서 오브제를 차용하여 일상의 기능을 제거시켜 결합한다. 시적인 체험을 통해 일상에 대한 인식을 새롭게 하여 감동을 일으키는 새로운 대상으로 바라보게 하는 것이다. 형태는 자연에서 다양하게 나타나는 유기적인 이미지의 풍경을 재구성하여 기하학적으로 구축된 사물의 형태로 표현한다. 이는 사물에 대한 인식을 정감적으로 다가서게 한다. 나무 판재의 표면이 거칠게 남겨진 면과 연마되어 정리된 면이 동시에 보여지도록 하였으며 오브제도 같은 방법으로 자연스러움과 인공적인 성격이 함께 드러나도록 표현하였다. 이와 같이 재료와 형태의 요소들을 각각의 내용에 따라 결합시킴으로서 생활환경에 대한 표현으로 사물과 자연의 복합적인 이미지를 나타낸다. 그 결과 일상에 대한 사유로서 평범한 사물과의 교감을 통해 서정적인 감흥을 이끌어 낸다. 생활 환경의 일상적으로 스쳐버리기 쉬운 주변을 돌아보고 관심을 가짐으로서 그 안에 감추어져 있는 자연의 질서와 경이로움을 함께 발견하게 되는 것이다.;In the forms that various objects take up in everyday life and in the environment in which the objects inhabit, a set of observant eyes can discover images that are vigorous and organic. The shades that change shape from sunrise to sundown can alter one' s perception of the same object and the area where the object is, just as the branches that extend out of a lanky tree nearby to a building can completely alter the look of the building. Many dissimilar images reflect upon the windows and overlap over one another to exhibit one beautiful image; so do the various images of a city' s night view reflected on a river that runs across the city. By combination of vibrant and lively images, the bodies of objects can transform into a completely new, yet startling images. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the geometrical order exhibited in a common city or in usual daily life and to integrate what is found with the organic images revealed in the natural world. In achieving such a feat, the main concern is the selection of genuinely natural images and appropriate artificial images, and the creation of an image via inventive and creative fusion of images from two seemingly unrelated worlds. By blending the images of commonplace buildings, machineries, and furniture, and the images from Mother Nature, a completely original and unique object can arise. As a result, furniture, doors, or windows can be fashioned into images that incorporate and reiterate the images in the nature to fabricate entirely different and new images. One of the goals of this thesis is successfully uniting the geometrical images from man-made world and natural images from nature together to create a general living area that is elegant, stylish, and practical. The thesis utilizes literature research, production presentation, and production analysis. The target of production presentation is to effectively create a fresh atmosphere by merging objects or objets from ordinary life environment and images from nature. To successfully carry out the production, the structural and geometrical organization of man-made objects and the untreated images of nature were transformed and reiterated to construct compatible objects to daily life. In order to give a breath of life to the production, wooden tray and numerous objets were employed and used to reveal natural images. The following is the result of seven pieces produced by following the procedure. The natural warmth revealed by wood expresses the natural appearance, and the objets were employed for exhibition of the artificial, man-made look. The goal is to change the public' s view and opinion about the daily images, from mundane and dull objects to exciting and appealing items, through visual experiences. To further influence and to reach the public' s attention, the shape of the images were developed through recreating organic images found in nature, and exhibiting them as geometrically stable and structured objects. The rough side and polished side of the wooden trays were shown at the same time, as well as the objets, to contrast the natural and unnatural characteristics of the pieces. By incorporating the materials and the characteristics of images together, intricate images are created, with a unique regard to environment. Consequently, unusual interest in the wonders of the nature will be drawn out of the viewers, along with the renewed attention to the images, once perceived as tedious and unexciting, in daily lives.
