지층의 이미지를 통한 직물 표현 연구

Abstract

Today human materially has been convenient and abundant life thanks to natural scientific intelligence and surprising development of technology. But even in the abundance of these material civilization, human was struck by the problem threatened their survival. Material civilization regarded nature as a target of conquest, developed resource of the earth using scientific technology and damaged greatly environment. People think that nature is different but again make them think over it owing to recognition of the pollution of environment. Thus today the problem of man has became seriously to seek for the comprise between human and nature for a long time. These could be solved the problem with the improvement of system and correspondence of technology. They are increased more the interest of nature than before and came out material or form based on nature. As the life of human could never get out of the nature so that nature has been stayed with human for a long time, human also feel consensus and order in the harmony of nature and then mentally peaceful. The layer among the features of nature especially seems to be close to human. The form of layer piled up seems like growth of human. The feature of layer leveled is that one side rises high, turn out contrary each other in continuous crustal activity, the other curves like a bow and make a crack in pressure pushed both sides. Therefore, this studied the concept and form of layer through different references, observed the general image expression of layer and visual expression and then works presented texture in relation and meaning of the feature of human. Weaving is the history of mankind and has been with us. Its use provide the image of various forms and unique curiosity coming from color, pattern, visual and tactile sense. Works that make of visual image of layer is classified each form as four types and tried to show the procedure of human's life. Color used a variety of color of rock and add to quality of material. Also form express different feeling each other of four layers as textile, using plain fabrics, twill, doubled fabrics, and so on. This study is trial of experimental texture expression from different subjects, gets out of the general theme used frequently and created works using the image of layer of the theme of nature. Also the weaving expression of the image of layer contribute environmentally, friendly-humanly to the improvement of tender feeling of human.;오늘날 인류는 자연과학적 지식과 기술의 경이적인 발달에 힘입어 물질적으로 편리하고 풍족한 삶을 누릴 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 물질 문명의 풍요 속에서도 인류는 그 생존을 위협하는 문제들에 부딪치고 있다. 물질문명은 경제적, 군사적 욕구충족을 위하여 자연을 정복의 대상으로 삼았고 과학기술을 도구로 삼아 지구의 자원을 개발하고 환경을 크게 훼손시켰다. 그리고 물질문명의 풍요 속에서 인간은 자연을 별개의 것으로 생각했으나, 최근 세계적으로 환경오염에 따른 심각성을 깨달으면서 자연을 다시 생각하게 만들었다. 그래서 오늘날 자연 보호는 전 인류의 문제로 여기게 되었고, 긴 안목으로 인간과 자연의 화해 문제를 심각하게 모색하기에 이르렀다. 이것은 제도 개선이나 물질계의 기술적 대응만으로 문제가 해결 될 수 있다고 본다. 그러므로 많은 분야에서 자연에 대한 관심은 높아만 가고 관심의 표현인 자연을 주제로 하는 소재나 형태 등이 등장하게 되었다. 인간의 생활에 있어서는 자연을 벗어나서는 결코 생활할 수 없기에 자연은 오랜 시간동안 인간과 함께 해왔으며, 인간은 자연과의 조화 속에서 질서와 교감을 느끼며 비로소 심리적 안정과 편안함을 느낀다. 특히 자연의 모습들 중에서 지층은 인간과 밀접한 모습을 보인다. 층층이 쌓여진 형태는 인간의 성장을 보여주는 듯하다. 수평으로 쌓인 지층의 모습은 거듭되는 지각운동으로 한쪽이 솟아오르기도 하고 서로 어긋나기도 하며 또는 양쪽으로 미는 압력으로 인해 활처럼 휘어지기도 하고 갈라진 틈이 생기기도 한다. 이에 본 연구는 지층의 개념과 형태에 대해 각종문헌을 통하여 연구하고 그에 따른 지층의 이미지에 대한 개념적 이미지표현과 시각적 이미지표현에 대해 살펴보고 이러한 문헌적 연구를 토대로 작품에 있어서는 지층의 형태에서 인간의 모습과의 연관성과 의미를 투영하여 직물로서 표현하였다. 직물은 인간과 시간을 함께 하여 온 인간의 역사이다. 직물에서 우리는 색과 무늬, 시각적, 촉각적 질감에서 오는 독특한 흥미를 발견하게 된다. 논자는 직물을 제작함에 있어서 지층의 시각적 이미지를 이용하였다. 지층의 형태별로 네 가지로 분류하고 그에 따른 색채와 조직을 달리 제작하여 인간의 삶의 과정을 표현하였다. 지층의 암석의 다양한 색상들을 이용하였고 소재에 따른 텍스츄어를 더하였으며, 조직은 평직, 능직, 이중직 등을 이용하여 서로 다른 느낌의 네 가지의 지층의 형태를 직물로 표현하였다. 본 연구는 자연의 주제 가운데 지층의 이미지를 이용하여 작품으로 구체화시키는 작업으로 기존의 반복적으로 사용되는 주제에서 벗어나 다양한 주제로부터의 실험적인 직물표현의 시도이며 또한 지층의 이미지를 이용한 직물의 표현은 친환경적, 친인간적으로 인간의 정서생활의 향상에 기여하여 자연과 인간이 서로 조화를 이룰 수 잇는 환경을 되찾는 데 그 목적이 있다.
