선의 구성을 통한 도자 표현 연구

Abstract

예술이란 작가 내면에 존재하는 자신의 세계를 조형적 디자인 과정과 같은 시각이나 청각 등을 통해서 보여주는 것이다. 내면의 세계는 가시적으로 보여지는 세계보다 더 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 이처럼 창조는 자연의 모방이 아니고 고뇌를 거쳐서 빚어지는 것이기 때문에 19세기 독일의 화가 프리드리히(Caper David Friedrich)는 "미술이 자연과 인간 사이의 중재자로서 행위 한다."고 말한 바 있다. 작가는 내면세계를 표출하고자 할 때, 표현의 언어로서 조형요소들을 사용하게 된다. 이 때에 쓰여지는 조형요소들은 표현자의 독특한 구성력에 의해 결합, 조절, 변형되기도 하는 데, 작가의 내면적 의도는 이 과정을 통하여 객관화된 결과물로 나타난다고 할 수 있다. 즉 표현의 과정에 있어서 조형요소들은 객관화하는 언어적 성격을 가지고 있는 것이다. 이러한 맥락에서 조형적 행위는 여러 가지 방법으로 다양하게 예술가들에 의해 표현되고 있다. 선은 예술 행위에 있어 가장 기초적으로 사용되는 조형 연어이다. 선은 모든 예술 행위의 기초이며, 다양한 방법을 통해 예술가들의 심적 예술 세계를 표출 할 수 있는 표현 수단이 된다. 이렇듯 예술의 조형 요소에 있어서 가장 중요한 비중을 차지하고 있는 선은 그 예술적 사용에 있어서 무한한 가능성과 잠재력을 지니고 있으며 대부분의 사람들이 즉시 인식하고 이해할 수 있는 표현성을 지니고 있다. 또한 선은 표현을 위한 매우 풍부한 수단으로서 최소한의 노력으로 모든 정서나 분위기를 나타내 줄 수 있는 의미를 지니고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 무한한 다양성과 표현력을 지닌 직선과 곡선을 결합하여 외형을 나타내는 평면적인 의미로서의 선이 아닌 3차원적으로 해석한 조형언어로서의 선을 도자 예술적 관점에서 다양하게 모색해 보고자 한다. 이론적 배경으로는 작품의 모티브(motive)가 된 고대 그리스 복식에 나타난 주름에 대해 알아보고, 선의 개념과 종류 및 특성을 정의한다. 본 작업연구는 부드럽게 드리워지는 옷의 주름을 토대로하여 옷에서 보이는 주름이 가진 흐름을 입체화된 선으로 재해석하여 도자로 표현하는 것이다. 이는 주름에서 나타난 선이 만들어 낸 구성을 3차원으로 이끌어내는 작업으로 각각의 선에 굵기와 각도와 기울기를 부여해 입체화시키는 과정을 도자 조형에 적용하여 작품 제작의 근거로 삼는다. 입체감을 가진 선들을 각기 다르게 배열하여 다른 선들과 충돌하면서 단절되고 흡수되고 소멸되면서 생성되는 새로운 형상을 표출한다. 선이 가진 특성을 효과적으로 표현하기 위하여 직선과 곡선을 복합적으로 사용하였으며 각 선들이 구성됨으로써 생겨나는 변화와 통일감이 조화를 이루도록 의도하였다. 작품제작 방법에 있어서는 입체화된 각진 선의 세밀한 표현을 위해 석고형을 이용한 이장주입성형과 더블 캐스팅(double casting)성형방법을 주로 사용하였다. 태토로는 백색도와 강도가 강한 수퍼-본(super bone)소지를 사용하고, 시유는 각각의 형태적 특색에 맞게 일부만 투명유를 사용하는데, 초벌 소성 없이 이장주입성형하고 충분히 건조시켜 분무 시유한 후, 0.5㎥ 도염식 가스가마에서 최고 온도 1280℃로 12시간 동안 환원소성 하였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 제작과정을 통해 도자 예술을 표현해 내는 데 있어서 선의 입체적 표현 효과에 의한 도자 예술의 조형미를 얻을 수 있었고 이러한 선의 입체화를 도자 조형으로 표현해내기 위해서는 계획과 많은 시행착오를 거쳐야 그 효과를 얻을 수 있음도 알 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구자는 선이 가지는 자율성과 무한한 잠재적 표현력을 도자를 통하여 조형화함으로써 보다 광범위한 도자예술의 표현 가능성을 제시하여 인간의 기본적인 예술 감각에 호소할 수 있는 조형예술을 추구하고자 한다.;In Art, artist's inner life is expressed through one's sense of sights, visions or hearing which is similar as the formative arts and the designing process. One's inner life has more important meaning than one's life viewed from the outer angle. Once the German painter Caper David Friedrich said the "Art is performing as an arbitrator between the nature and the human being". Creating is not meant to copy the nature but you do achieve it through the afflictions and the overcome hardships. The artists are using many different form elements to express their own inner life. These elements are forming, regulating, controlling and modifying by the artists' characteristic ability to make a formation. Through this process you can see the objective result of the expression of the artists'inner meaning. Those form elements has an characteristic ability to be an objective in the process of expression. Many artists using many different way and methods to express their form language. The line is a basic element to express in the field of art activity. And it has the possibility to be expressed for the artist's inner world in many different ways. The lines has very important roll among those elements in the expression of art. This study has focused on the research about the three-dimensional lines in the field of the ceramic art. In this study, it is aimed to define the meaning of the line and to continue to study about the forms combined with lines. To create my works for this study, combined many lines to cross each other in regular or irregular order and in different angles or spaces. When those lines meet each other and make another new lines and it creates itself a new shape. To make it more effective, the straight lines and curved lines are combined each other and tried to make a harmony, variety and artistic readiness. To making the clay forms, the slip casting and the double casting methods are used to achieve the best results to keep the sharp lines. The number 10th work has been made by the technique using pinching, rolling and pressing because of the size and purpose. The slip casting clay was made by Kaolin, Quartz and Feldspar to achieve the maximum whiteness and strength. The transparent glaze has been used partly and it has been reduction fired until 1280 grades in a gas kiln ( 0.5 ㎥ ) and completed after 12 hours. Through this study and working process, good artistic result has been achieved to make an ceramic form combined with lines. The need of the continuos endeavor, the trial and error to establish an artistic character to express the 3 dimensional combination of lines. Through my study to create the ceramic forms, it has been a significance meaning to try to find the possibilities to express my artistic forms and specially focused on the expression using lines to my ceramic forms.
