라벨(M. Ravel)의 'Valses Nobles et Sentimentales'에 대한 연구

Abstract

19세기 말과 20세기 초의 피아노 음악에서 중요한 위치를 차지했던 라벨(Maurice Joseph Ravel:1875-1937)은 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy: 1862-1918)와 함께 그만의 독특한 음악 어법과 개성을 지닌 작곡가이다. 그는 프랑스의 인상주의(Impressionism) 음악의 대표적 작곡가로서, 인상주의 음악은 인상파 화가들로부터는 색채와 색조에 대한 개념을, 상징주의(Symbolism) 시인들로부터는 시의 암시와 상징성을 받아들여 새로운 음악 형태로 발전시킨 것을 말한다. 이 논문에서는 라벨의 많은 작품 중에서도 주요 피아노 작품과 그 특징을 알아보고 피아노 음악에 나타난 그의 음악 어법을 형식, 선율, 화성, 리듬 별로 살펴본 후에, 우아하고 감상적인 왈츠를 분석하였다. 라벨의 음악 어법은 형식면에서 드뷔시의 애매모호한 윤곽과는 달리 뚜렷한 고전주의적 형태를 취하고 있다. 선율은 5음 음계Pentatonic scale), 온음 음계(Whole-tone scale)와 도리안 선법(Dorian mode), 에올리안 선법(Aeolian mode)을 다양하게 사용하였다. 화성은 기본적인 3화음 위에 7, 9, 11, 13 화음과 더불어 부가음을 사용하였고 병행 화음과 불협 화음을 많이 사용하였다. 리듬은 뚜렷하며 스페인 무곡 등의 영향이 크다. 우아하고 감상적인 왈츠(Valses Nobles et Sentimentales)에는 위의 음악 어법들이 다양하게 녹아 있으며 전통적 형식을 선호하는 라벨의 인상이 잘 나타난 작품으로 1911년에 작곡된 후에 관현악곡으로 편곡되었다. 이 곡은 7개의 왈츠(Waltz)와 1개의 에필로그(Epilogue)로 이루어져 있으며 각 곡의 마지막 음과 시작 음이 동일하게 되어 있어 매우 정교한 구성을 이루고 있어 모음곡이라기 보다는 하나의 악장처럼 통일감을 느끼게 한다. 슈베르트(Schubert:1797-1828)의 왈츠를 기본 모델로 하고 있으며 고전적인 구조와 리듬 위에 현대적인 선율과 화성을 사용함으로써 라벨다운 색채감과 화려함이 개성 있게 나타나 있다.;From the late 19C to the early 20C, Ravel had got a important position in piano music. He succeeded in Dubussy and made his own characteristic music style and individuality. Ravel was a one of impressive composers of France who accepted the conceptions of coloration and the tone of color from impressive painters and accepted the allusion and symbol of poem from the symbolism poets and developed their own new music style. This paper treats the piano pieces of Ravel and the characteristics of them and shows the formality, the scale, the harmony and the rhythms of Ravel's the expression of music in piano musics and analysis the 'Valses Nobles et sentimentales'. The formality takes the distinguished classical forms to the contrary with Dubussy. The pentatonic scale, whole-tone scale and church modes are used in various ways in melody. In harmony he set the basical triad under the 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th chord with additional tones, especially use the parallel chord and disonant chord. The rhythms are distinguished and affected by the spainish dancing music. 'Valses Nobles et sentimentales' contains the expressions of musics discribed above and presents the impressions of Ravel who prefers the forms of classical styles. 'Valses Nobles et sentimentales' has composed in 1911, written as a piece of the middle age of Ravel. Later Ravel has translated it into the piece for the Wind and stringed instruments. This one is consists of the 7 waltz and 1 epilogue. The sectors of ending of each chapter is same with the sectors of beginning and set the ingenuity forms. So it delivers the unity as a chapter not a suits. It takes the basic model of the waltz of Schubert(1797-1828) and has a classical structure and rhythm with modern scale and harmony and represents the tones of color and splendid of his own.
