Does paper industry die for good?

Abstract

사람들은 한국증시가 미국의 증시와 같이 각 회사의 경영투명성과 즉각적인 관련 정보들이 주가에 반영되지 않는다고 한다. 하지만, 변화하고 있는 한국증시는 점점 기업자체의 가치와 전망을 위주로 주식가격이 변화하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 수많은 산업 중에서도 인터넷 비즈니스의 발전으로 인해 전망이 불투명하다고들 하는 제지 산업을 분석해보기로 한다. 또한, 더욱 명확한 주가비교를 위해 제지품을 생산하는 한창제지라는 업체의 주가를 동종상품 생산업체들과 비교하여 과연 이 업체의 주가가 저평가 되었는지, 고평가 되었는지에 대해 또한 알아본다. 각 경영지표와 주가지표 및 외부 경제 요인들을 종합적으로 검토한 결과, 과연 한창제지는 저평가 되어있으나, 전반적인 한국경제의 펀더멘탈이 취약한 관계로 주식을 살만큼 강하지 않다고 하는 결론이 나왔다.;People often say that the Korean stock market does not reflect the financial performance of firms unlike the U.S.markets. Here is a industry which most people think that it is fading old fashioned manufacturing industry: pulp and paper. I will examine the disregarded pulp & paper industry in Korea and then further to analyze 'white paper market in paper industry' alone. Further, I will look at the stock performance of a certain paper company, Hanchang, and compare it with other firms producing the same products namely, white paper or paperboard products. In analyzing Hanchang, various sorts of ratios will be used to objectively determine the company' position. Also, other external material variables like oil prices and foreign exchange rates will be considered. I explore the trend in movement of the priced Hanchang stock along with the changes in oil prices and foreign exchanges rates. In conclusion, combining all the data I searched and results from all kinds of ratio compared with competitive companies, I decided Hanchang Paper company is undervalued and worthy of investment in long term view. The pulp & paper industry is not such a promising industry sector as e-business but fluctuations in the industry are smoother so it can be good to diversify for defensive investors' portfolio.
